For some reason, they're on different networks and one of them isn't Comedy Central, but whatever:

Tonight "Onion Sportsdome" premieres on Comedy Central at 10:30 pm eastern time.

Friday, January 21 "The Onion News Network" premieres on IFC at 10:00 pm eastern time.

I have no idea why both aren't on Comedy Central back to back but they're on at different times and days so I guess they can both be watched. I'm kind of annoyed at the IFC thing though because I don't get that on my satellite channel package permanently (it is being previewed this month but will probably disappear in February). But then again it'll probably turn out to be almost precisely like the video section of The Onion site so...

I'm not sure what these will bring to the table that the website doesn't already provide, since they already do the videos online. Plus it will probably be toned down for television versus the internet (for example, there will never be a segment entitled "Senator introduces anti-skullfucking bill" on TV), but I'm going to check these out anyway to see if they're good or not. The Comedy Central one at least should manage to be fairly uncensored for the most part.

I don't know. Comedy Central has been able to do some ridiculous things. As long as the onion Crosses the Line Twice it's going to get the bad things though. (for instance The episode of south park where they break the world record for saying shit and having a Shit counter at the bottom of the screen to do it.)

The Onion... on TV??
Mood: extremely cautious optimism.

their online video segments are pretty ace, I imagine this will just be like.... several of those in succession? although IDK if that actually holds up over an entire half hour so presumably they'll mix it up a bit.

Your fear of censorship isn't that bad, if I recall, IFC is very lax on their censorship, so a lot of stuff the Onion would do could probably make it onto that show. I think that's why the News Network went to IFC and the milder SportsDome went to Comedy Central.

I watched some of the Sportsdome. Some of it was pretty hilarious, but the whole "Who Would You Kill" thing was just drawn out and awkward.
