So a customer today, buying a Western Telegraph, made mention of the popularity of two bears in the UK - Pooh (http://cdn5.mattters.com/photos/photos/1947573/fat_pooh_bear-12687.jpg) and Paddington (http://scienceblogs.com/isisthescientist/2009/08/public_enemy_1_-_paddington_be.php). Now, I cannae find any reports of full on Hundred Acre Wood/Paddington Station gang wars, but most people tend to sway one way or the other. Oh, and in case you don't know:

Paddington Bear is an immigrant from Darkest Peru. His Aunt Lucy had sent him to London with a suitcase and a note saying "Please look after this bear." Paddington Bear loves marmalade and has impeccable manners, always addressing people as Mr. or Mrs. But when he is annoyed with someone, he gives the person one of his "hard stares." He is taken in by the Brown family where he has a series of adventures including learning to take a hot bath, getting in trouble with an inspector, and getting lost at a department store. While he gets into occasional trouble, this bear always has a sincere desire to make things right.

Winnie-the-Pooh as you would know is really a stuffed toy teddy bear that belonged to Christopher Robin Milne. The original toy bear belonging to Christopher Robin is on display at Donnell Library Center Central Children's Room in New York City. Winnie the Pooh got his name from Winnipeg, a bear that Christopher & his father Mr. Milne often saw the London Zoo, while ‘Pooh’ was a swan they met while on a vacation.

Now, the bears have their (http://www.icons.org.uk/theicons/collection/winnie-the-pooh/features/ten-things) histories, (http://www.paddingtonbeer.nl/padinfo.htm) but as Highlander has taught me, "There can be only one." (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kq4SqgxIKM0&t=1m31s) And in this case we're talking about fictionalized G-rated bears from the United Kingdom in a thread would probably be best in the Versus thread.

I would have to go with Winnie the Pooh, although in reality I am more of a Tigger fan.
