So. Ghost Trick. I hadn't heard anything about it until you people brought it up in the Funny Pictures thread. Out of curiosity I looked it up on Metacritic, where it was often compared to the Ace Attourney games in regards to storyline and humor. I am intrigued.
So what's your opinion on Ghost Trick? Is it worth trying? How long is it? I could theoretically get it for like $4 thanks to a gift card I got for Christmas. Should I go for it?

For $4? DEFINITELY get it. I'm maybe an hour or 2 in and it's great. Good sense of humor, a good mystery, and pretty hilarious characters (The detective... He dances...)
Haven't finished it, but for that cheap you'd be getting a bargain. GET IT!!
It is fantastic. There's a couple of really stupid plot twists, but it's Capcom what do you expect? Besides those plot twists the writing is actually pretty excellent, as is the gameplay and visual presentation. I highly recommend it.

It's pretty good so far, from what I've played. I haven't seen any stupid plot twists yet, but I have seen some plot twists coming that haven't happened yet, so maybe I'm just seeing them before they happen so they don't LOOK stupid?
I beat the game two days ago, and I cannot recommend it enough--anyone I know who has a DS has been getting encouraged to give it a try. It is really well written, the spritework is really great, and it's a lot of fun to play. I don't think any of the plot twists were too weird; maybe if you weren't expecting some of the strange supernatural stuff that happens later in the game, but come on. It's a game about ghosts.
I'd say the biggest drawback to this game would be the fact that the replayability is near to zilch. The best part, though, is going back to look for the subtle little hints they put in about Sissel's true identity, which I've been really enjoying.
Also, Missile brings a whole new level to Good Dog Best Friend.
The stupid plot twists are GHOST POWERS FROM A METEOR and Ray is actually a time traveled alternate universe Missile!!!
The first is mid-game, the second is very, very, very end-game, to keep anyone from spoiling themselves.
I do agree on both points, really, they did make me scratch my head. I'll always find the old trope of MAGICAL METEOR FROM OUTER SPAAAAACE to be pretty silly, but like I said: game about ghosts. Also, this takes place in the same universe as the Ace Attorney games, according to the creators. We should be glad that things are as sane as they are.
Also the second point was a little hard to follow, but I didn't care because GOOD DOG BEST FRIEND ;_____;
It's more that meteors just doesn't really work for an explanation of ghost powers. Meteors are non-supernatural. Ghosts are supernatural. It's like saying someone can see ghosts because they were exposed to nuclear radiation, it's stupid and doesn't work. I would have gladly accepted plenty of explanations, so long as they were supernatural explanations. Hell, I would have preferred BY BELIEVING IN YOURSELF REALLY HARD to meteors.

If I had a DS and I could get this game for $4, I'd totally do so after playing the demo on Gamepad Dojo. Like, no thought required. I'd go out and buy it. Go buy it, Mauve.

Actually (spoilered but not really important to the plot)There is plenty of types of cosmic radiation that haven't been tested and usually have a rather high or low EM factor. If ghost in this game are Electro Magnetic entities (which would explain telephone movement and why they dissipate during the day) it could be logical to state that the radiative energies could resonate with the ghosts EM spectrum allowing for increased ability. however this is purely theoretical

$4?! Where the hell did you people buy it?
I mean I only had to pay 30 bucks and that was a great deal for such an excellent game, but come on.
And I saw a lot of the plot twists coming yes but they were still EXCELLENTLY handled.
My favourite thing about the game is at various times, it seems to have the old Phoenix Wright problem of "stupid things happening for plot/game convenience", but later it turns out that THEY ARE NOT STUPID AT ALL. Everything is explained except for why Yomiel can suddenly manipulate inanimate objects in the submarine... I thought he could only possess organic things? If so, why can he turn into a pile of rubble with a grabby claw that saves Lynne?

END GAME SPOILERS: They don't actually dissipate in the morning. Also, Missile can't use the telephone movement system. So yeah.

It's $29.99 where I'm planning to buy it. I have a $25 gift card. So.... $5 technically.

Okay nevermind then, if it's that much then my priority is shifted back to Mass Effect 2 for PS3.

Thank you for mentioning this. I want this game, but I will wait until it is cheaper to pick it up. The rest of the money on the gift card I have will go towards Pokemon White.

Ended up buying Ghost Trick and a used copy of Ico at full price elsewhere. So much for saving money.
But AAAAAHHHHSOAWESOME! i stayed up till 1:30 a.m. playing Gost Trick for five hours straight.
The thing that really pissed me off was, after playing until 4:30 in the morning, I knew I was getting extremely close to the end and was struggling to get the timing right for one of those godforsaken puzzles, but I was almost there and
then the game froze on me. And it had been a hefty chunk of time since the last savepoint.
I think I've seen on the webs that I'm not the only person to have a problem similar to this, so there's another little mark on what is otherwise an amazing game.

I know this was posted a while ago, but it was never actually answered so I'll do that now. He could always maipulate inanimate objects, too. Remember him knocking the gun out of Cabanela's hand with the lamp?

Then why did he ask Sissel to do his own inanimate manipulations? There was plenty of room (and time, since transportation is instantaneous) for Yomiel to launch the egg, then skip back to save the girl.
Still an outstanding game, though.

He wasn't originally there to help. If he wanted to, he could have just manipulated his body from the start, dropped the gun, and turned himself in. When he finally did decide to help, Sissel refused to travel back in time again so Lynne wouldn't have even an alternate-timeline memory of dying there.

know this is abit old but I bought the game friday and just finished last night. Wanted to finish so I wouldn't spoiler myself.
Really I dont know why they even bother saying it takes place in the same universe as Ace Attorney games, I noticed no crossing in plot, characters, or location. Not like that bit of knowledge matters. Even the way supernatural things work are so different the rules of the setting dont even come into play. Well except maybe the following
On source of the power. Something is only supernatural because it lacks a scientific explaination. Remember items in ace attorney games with supernatural qualities, whose to say it isn't from materials like what the meteor is made of
There was one big thing that seemed contrived to me. That the fiance, cat, and his alias were all Sissel. I get it from a gameplay standpoint. Players would not be happy if the name they've been using for the whole game was the wrong one. Still its just abit too, unlikely.
And one thing I still dont get why is kitty Sissel unaging?

Sequels.

Maybe they'll link them in sequels.

Okay I agree here. Why would he use his GIRLFRIEND'S name as his alias? I understand naming your cat after your girlfriend, but not YOURSELF.
And one thing I still dont get why is kitty Sissel unaging?
I suspect they'll look into that in sequels.

Yes but how else will they make the AA fans nerdgasm at possibilities?

The meteor bit went straight through Jowd's leg and into the kitten.

wait, so then kitty is dead? but we've seen with missile that upon death you start off with the same powers, and his were object manipulation. He couldn't manipulate his corpse
Yeah. Sissel has never been able to manipulate corpses. Only objects, and corpses are not simple 'objects', like Lamp!Missile said. Possessing bodies, living or dead, was Yomiel's thing. After fate was rewritten, we didn't see Kitty!Sissel do anything, because he had no reason to. It's fair to assume he still CAN though. Sequel bait.

He's not manipulating his corpse; I think he's just.... undead. The meteor shard constantly heals the body, so he's dead, but unable to "die" I guess. Or maybe having the shard just gives him the ability to manipulate his own corpse? I dunno. The game is awesome either way.

dont know if I want to see a sequel, I mean hate to have this be it for such interesting mechanics, but the story is so well tied up, it would feel cheap
On another note, let's look aw why Capcom is a bunch of sneaky bastards:
Sissel saved, through direct possession and Fate Rewinding:
1.Lynne
2.Missile
3.Random Cop
4.Jowd
5.Park Guy
6.Detective Justice
7.Cabanella
8.Inspector
9.Yomiel
Yeah, that's right. Sissel saved nine lives.
It's the little things that I love about this game.

I can't help but wonder if Detective Justice is related to Apollo Justice in any way.
Y'know, like Trucy is.
EDIT: THAT IS NOT HIS NAME I'M JUST AN IDIOT

....Detective Justice? Who was that? The detective in the newsboy cap who slammed a van into the restaurant? Or are you talking about the Justce Minister?
Justice Minister, right. Hush, when half the characters don't even have specified names, I'm allowed to get confused about what to call them.

Have I actually played and beat this game? The answer is yes. I've said this on Twitter, but Missile is nothing but a GIGANTIC HAM in a puppy-shape.
Anyways, I agree with the plot points of MAGIC METEORS and Spo-I mean, MISSILE-Prime being pretty dumb, but the whole bit with Yomiel is Sissel but aren't I Sissel so who is he what am I BLUHHH was confusing for a bit. I mean, it was finally explained, and I've noticed all the foreshadowing for this so it makes sense, but the whole thing still gave me a vibe of complete and utter whafuck at first.
Oh, and I might as well leave this(Crazy-ass spoilers of a sort, though, so I wouldn't click it until you beat the game): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHEfWsrUbLE
Yes, I will actually attempt to do this right now.

I kind of wanted to see Yomiel just shrug and walk out.

I recently beat it, freakin loved it despite having the whole "Sissel is a cat" thing spoiled going in.
Yeah some of the other twists were dumb ( I thought the one I had spoilt was fine, because going in knowing I picked up on all the crazy foreshadowing which was a lot of fun in itself) but I'm a sucker for happy endings so it all worked out for me.
One character I really liked was the minister's wife, she was hilarious and just when you thought she was such a bitch and started to get fed up with her, you found out she had a pretty damned awesome reason for putting the minister through hell like that.
On unaging Kitten Sissel, he's the same as Yomiel now, unaging immortal undead thing cause he's got a meteor shard buried in him. But he's a cat with a loving family so it's pretty cool. And yeah sequel bait. It's CAPCOM what do you expect how many games have they made which didn't get a sequel?
