According to this, at least. (http://insidetv.ew.com/2011/02/17/firefly-returns/)

What does that mean for us Firefly fans?

Apparently, not much beyond the show reshowing on cable, along with "new extras", and a physicists explaining physics at the end of each episode.

So...yay? Nay? Or just "The Science Channel? What?"

What's Firefly?

Oh, Seil.

It was a cool show about cowboys in space fighting this evil empire, and also fighting these mutant guys. They even made a movie. In theaters and everything.

GTFO! Leave all your respect points at the door.

OT; Not much to say really. I don't get this channel and it's only showing the series over again, which I, (and I'd hope to god all of you as well) already have on dvd. When my friend first showed me this we thought it meant there was a new series being made, but then all my hopes were crushed when we realised we were wrong. It was a sad day.

Careful, you're kinda describing this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oXHhnT1tHNM). Not to say that it's not an apt description, but...well here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LrAS20mNZUE).

So it's actual space cowboys...well, not the Clint Eastwood ones...

As happy as I am about the series being picked up again (Firefly is honestly my favorite TV series in history), I'm not sure I'd be in favor of new episodes being made.

Mostly because Joss Whedon has gone on record saying that on the off chance it DOES get picked up for more episodes, the Serenity movie remains canon. Which means Book and Wash can only be seen in flashbacks.

Also, Summer Glau is fuckin' 29 years old, you guys. I don't know if she can really pull off the sad, tortured teen anymore.

What I WOULD support is either 1) a reboot or 2) a new series set in the same universe. I heard about this news on facebook accompanied by a short interview with Nathan Fillion, where after being asked if he would play Mal again, he said "Yes. Yes."

Go watch The Cape. She like literally hasn't changed at all. It's creepy.

So, do they own all of the rights? Or just the rights to play it?

Magus

I don't think they'd own the creative rights.

River could just be 29 years old in new episodes. Like in the Firefly universe time has passed and she's also learned to control her powers and stuff.

That would take a lot out of the series though. Some of the most interesting bits were with River. But that is mostly because she was a scared and seemingly crazy teenager instead of an ass kicking machine.

I think we've all seen her act weird long enough, there's no need to make the character static. I'd like to see the characters continue to develop if they ever start it up again. Like her brother would have to deal with the fact that he doesn't have to babysit her, for example, so he'd have to figure something else out for himself to do with his life besides be River's protector.

Seriously go watch what little of the Sarah Connor Chronicles that made it onto TV. Then go watch The Cape. The poor girl has been type cast so bad.

Maybe she is like Keanu Reeves and devoid of emotion/acting talent, so there is a reason for it?

(BTW I think I saw like 2 seasons of Sarah Connor Chronicles on TV, was this a fraction of the actual show or what?)

No I just get the feeling that they had more episodes completed or nearly completed when it suddenly vanished into the nether world of canceled TV shows.

Also the 4400, the first few times she appeared in that she was pretty crazy, but now also had crazy mind control powers too!

... Yeah why is she always the crazy, overpowered type?
