And found it a decently enjoyable experience (http://www.gamepad-dojo.com/?p=3472)

It's not a mindblowing handheld, but it's a good one, and a noticeable improvement over the DS. The AR is fun, and makes you look like a complete fucking idiot, just as God intended. No must-have titles yet, but there are some that are worth at least checking out. Super Street Fighter IV 3D will, alongside Dead or Alive Dimensions, completely fuck handheld fighting games forever, I think. If you were getting the 3DS at launch and had to choose between the games that were available at this event, though I know there are more launch titles than those, I'd probably go with Asphalt 3D, assuming you can enjoy a fairly straight-forward racing game.

This has been bugging me for a while about the SSFIV thing: how are you supposed to perform special attacks with the touch screen when both of your hands are presumably occupied with the buttons?

*shrug* It's not that hard since it's just a quick tap. Even taking into account moving your fingers to use the touch screen and then moving them back, I'd say it's as fast as actually doing the button combinations for the moves, especially for people inexperienced with fighting games. I'm no fighting game expert, though, so I can't really say how it compares in terms of speed for people who are really aces at fighting games.

Oh wait, do you use your fingers/thumb to touch? That would make it a lot faster than using the stylus, but might grime up the screen.

Not if you tap with your fingernail.

Looking at some other 3DS launch titles, I'm thinking the games I'll probably get at launch are Super Monkey Ball 3D and Rayman 3D.

Seems like there should be a new Zelda or Mario involved to make me interested. Then again I guess the original DS debuted with just an updated Mario 64 game, so I guess Ocarina of Time 3DS is supposed to sell it to me.

Also I can't afford to buy it, if I were going to spend 250 bucks I might as well actually get a new next-gen console finally.

There is a new Zelda for it in the works I think, and definitely a new Mario in the works for it.

Launch titles: on average pretty much all-around shitballs; if you want fully fledged AAA goodness, wait a while.

SO HAS EVER IT BEEN

SO SHALL EVER IT BE

Yeah real garbage launch titles, cancelled my preorder but I may just cave anyways, since I will have to stare at the things thirty hours a week.

Can Pokemon be the launch title?

I am expecting this to go like the DS and I won't be able to find one for 2 years unless I pre-order it now

I wouldn't buy one for at least a year. Nintendo's almost fetish for releasing updates of their hand-held a year after launch that are better in every way make me hesitant to be a first adopter.

Besides I like to give the whole process time to fix complaints (IE the original DS's massive size), bugs in the manufacturing process (IE that batch of PS2 that all had disk read errors), and overall bad workmanship (IE PSP 1000)

Also, launch games tend to kinda suck.

I liked the large size of the DS, so much so that I can't play my Lite without that set of Nerf Armor I bought.

I like that the entire GBA cartridge fits inside the old brick, but the DS Lite's backlight is entirely superior.

Think you can't afford the 3DS at 250 USD?

The damn thing costs 5995 MXN here, about 500 USD

Also, does anyone know why has the US dollar has been losing value against the mexican peso? Is the situation the same with other currencies?

Sure has been! It's barely equal to our monopoly money now!

I made a paypal purchase today and the Canuck Buck is actually STRONGER than the USD.

But game companies love to gouge the shit out of everyone who isn't in Japan or USA so that obviously makes no difference whatsoever.

several reasons

A. Money is based on economic strength in the country.
The US right now is "recovering" from a recession.
B. US Is becoming less of a Manufacturing country. With china outpriceing and outproducing us the more country's are switching to Chinese vs American goods. this also plays into A
