When I saw the first half of the topic name in the board previews, I thought this would be a Katamari thread.
I am only slightly disappointed.

I don't doubt it will be a good game... it annoys me to hell and back that this Batman would NEVER be able to pass as Bruce Wayne... dude has more Muscle than goddamn Bane from the comics... i never liked that they keep using Batman's cape as a "Super Scientific Glider" but i can take it. The Superman-esque Ground pound on the other hand.. that one is hard to get.
All and all, the game seems to take everything the first one proposed to do right and exapands on it. So i'm actually looking forward to it

On topic: Pretty damn excited for this game. And I'm glad the Riddler is going to have a larger role too.

I hope the same people who ported Arkham Asylum to the PC port this one, since that was, aside from having to go through Games for Windows Live, a really good game. The PC controls were excellent. If it is as good a port as the last, it will be a no-brainer for me to buy it, I loved the first.

Wait, Arkham Asylum was a ported to the PC? Dead serious here, I thought it was originally made for the PC and then ported to the consoles.

Seil i think he is asking if Arkham Asylum went PC-to-Console or Console-to-Pc
As far as i know, any Multiplatform design is made PC-to-Console. it's easier.

Want. So. Bad.
BTW Bells the ground-pound is probably some kind of seismic-power glove thingy, similar to Shriek from Batman Beyond, for instance. It's not really outside the realm of Batman-edness.

well... he did plastered Plastic explosives on his Glove in the first game... So, yeah, it's not really beyond the realm of what it's already out there

By the way You can now use that in combat buy plastering people mid fight and detonating them later.
all gadgets actually have a functional combat move

Not only do we have a good Batman game, but we also have a damn good follow up game coming out.
Wow, the world is going to hell in a hand basket.

Oh, well that's a good point, I don't actually know. I'm just at the point where I automatically assume everything was originally made for consoles, and then ported to PC. With a few exceptions, anyway.

The game comes out in nine days and I just pre-ordered my copy today so I think that warrants resurrecting this thread. Holy shit, I'm looking forward to a game like I haven't in a while. I'm pretty sure the last game I bought was Red Dead Redemption and that was based solely on my love for Westerns and my trust in Rockstar.
I played Arkham Asylum almost as an afterthought when I rented it from my local Hollywood Video before it went out of business and I loved the game. I made sure to return it to the store and buy a copy. Aside from the mostly terrible bossfights and some frustrating design choices (why is Batman built like a brick shithouse?), I thought the game was solid and definitely the best one I'd played in a long time. And now Arkham City is coming out with everything I loved and so much more!
You can even play as Tim Drake (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NaozRVqSS5Q) if that catches your fancy. What is there not to be excited about?

The one thing I'm concerned about is how they addressed the 'detective mode' issue but this looks reeeeealy good.

Using detective mode removes most of the HUD elements, namely the compass, so you can't navigate the city with it on.
Goddamn this game is out sooner than I thought.

Apparently they were concerned that some players spent the entire length of Arkham Asylum with detective mode on.
Why they didn't take this information and go "oh, well, why don't we just fore-go two different vision modes altogether and integrate detective mode into normal mode?" and instead just made detective mode inconvenient to use, I dunno.
Obviously the game is awesome looking either way.
Roommate has a preorder, already paid off too. He's gonna pick it up next week.
...dammit I need to finish Assassin's Creed II and get my hands on Brotherhood before I miss Revelations' launch.

I might try it a bit tonight. I've been playing Arkham Asylum a bit on the PC and remembering how fantastic it is. Only got my hands on early 360 copy, but might give it a whirl instead of holding out for my actual PC copy.

Semi-spoilers:
It got trashed in Arkham Asylum when Batman plunged it into the lake. With Bane in tow.

I have a total of 11 Catwoman download codes up for grabs if peeps are only renting/buying used, 5 Xbox and 6 PS3. Fire me a PM. Figured I should mention it.
Roommate picked up his copy the same night I picked up AC: Brotherhood.
We're going to be fighting over the Xbox for a few weeks...

Holy shit I love this game. I didn't realize i played it for 12 hours nor did i realize that i needed sleep. Man I loved it this game is better then asylum in almost every way! It still had the "Open world problem" as I like to call it where you can get lost or stuff but nearly everything about the game is great otherwise. Every boss was similar and different stretching across the various modes in different ways. The best one was Freeze. I had fun it was challenging and it both fit the character to a T.

Joker dying, presumably.
Of course, knowing him, that won't stick.
And even if it does stick, there's always Harley's child. You DID find the pregnancy test next to her old costume in the steel mill, didn't you?

I am not even close to getting all of the easter eggs but wow that one is kinda scary.
...It might have something to do with not wanting things to jump out and scare me, because honestly the shark messed me up for a few while.
EDIT: Also even with like a bunch of villains doing something spoliery at the end, I didn't find it really surprisingly dark. Not more so than the entire premise of the game, certainly not more dark than, say, 'Return of the Joker' in the Batman Beyond canon.
FakeEDIT: Oh man I think the next Rockstar steady 'Batman' game should totally be based on 'Batman Beyond' and if you disagree you're stupid.

Actually... the DeeDee twins in Batman Beyond are granddaughters of Harley Quinn... (sorry if that was a spoiler for you. Your own damned fault though. You should have watched Batman Beyond in the first place.)
I don't see why we can't have a prequel to Batman Beyond going on, seeing as Harley's practically confirmed to be pregnant with Joker's child.
Have Harley's child (male or female) go up against Bruce who's just invented the Beyond suit. Or at least an earlier version.

How so? I just beat it and I'm not sure what you're referring to.
Masses of people being murdered, a dead love interest, a final showdown in the movie theater where Bruce Wayne would experience his last moment of happiness, the Joker dying in spite of you trying to save him making your attempts to be moral totally worthless, and the Joker singing "Only You" over the credits.
Oh, Rocksteady needs to get the license to Daredevil. Combine Arkham City with Ace Attorney and provide a bigger open world, you've got one of the best games ever.
