Haha this episode was brilliant. Evil pyscho Fluttershy, depressed AND overloaded hyper Pinkie, Dash being awesome and wrecking the place, the Cinderella story tropes being subverted at every turn, Celestias "Run!"

Excellent ending to the season, the only downside being that it is the ending of the season and now we have to wait 6 months for more pony.:(

I've known about this for a while now, was wondering when the news would finally break. Now before people go all gloom and doom, I'd like to point out that she is still doing a lot of what she did in season 1. She's still heavily involved in the pre-production of season 2 (story and scripts), she'll just be less involved in the post-production. This really won't have any impact on the production.

So I'm much less worried now. Still hoping for the best, but my fears of Hasbro going into Super Meddling mode are mostly gone. Only mostly, mind you, this is Hasbro we're talking about.

Something has happened. Something that I never believed would happen. After adamantly refusing to watch any of this pony nonsense and managing to stay true to that for so long, I have been betrayed... by myself. In a moment of weakness and boredom part of me thought "Maybe I should give the ponies a shot. I ignored Homestuck for a bit when the forum was apeshit for that, but that turned out to be pretty awesome."

So I watched the pilot episodes.

And then I remembered someone saying the pilot wasn't as good as the rest of the show, so I watched two more episodes.

Now here I am seven episodes in and still wanting to watch more. And I don't know why!!!

Well, okay, I do know why. It's the best kids cartoon show I've seen in a long long time. I've long since given up hope on the kids cartoon industry, but MLP is a spark in the dark. That's the best way I can describe it right now.

So yeah, with all that out of the way just two things that need to be said (well, probably repeated at this point since I'm sure all of you have heard/said this before).

1) Pinkie Pie is hilarious
2) Fluttershy is adorable and is the best pony.

EDIT: Back on the subject of ponies, the finale was awesome, Pinkie Pie is still the best pony but Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy are both up there on my list, and Rarity's actually managed to grow on me. I'd say Applejack is now my "least favorite" main pony (I should prepare for Osterbaum to be pissed), but she is still very awesome. Just somewhat...predictable? Boring at times?

Spike has actually become my second favorite character after Pinkie Pie, though, his moments in the episode with him and the owl were incredible.

So, Flare showed me a pic today that had my mind squeeling and than I belted out a sample scene to a possible X-over Ponyfic just now from the pic alone. Flare can show the pic if she wants but I will let you all read the scene I put together and let you all decide if I got a larger story to go here.

Lina had just about had it with the pink, seemingly happy pony who had the attention span; and apparent brains of Gourry as well as Amelia's sometimes annoying zeal for life is good. Even Xellos was looking a bit angry with Pinkie Pie and they haven't even been in this strange world of Equestria a half hour by her reckoning. "So Lina! Your a Unicorn! What magic can you do? Huh huh?" Bouncing in her face and around her. Lina growled with a smile and said, "How about this?" Aiming the horn at Pinkie Pie, she yelled out "FIREBALL!" The orange orb launching itself at high speed at the pink pony and than exploding. She didn't even care it was near the barn or anything that was on Applejack's Family Farm. All she cared about was silencing the annoying pink menace. Lina's own friends ducked for cover at that moment while Twilight Sparkle and her group just stared openly and were sent backwards by the blast that also took out half of the barn wall.

Twilight Sparkle was the first to clear her throat and sight and see the damage. "Whoa! What the heck!" Lina was smiling and looking proud as she nodded. "So my magic does work here. GOOD!" Twilight would of admonished the strange pony if the target of that attack hadn't made her presence known...from behind Lina herself. "WOW! That's awesome! Do it again! Do it again!" Pinkie Pie stood there, completely unharmed and still happy and unaware she got attacked. "How about we play Dodgeball with that Fireball! Dodgeball Party!" Pinkie Pie said bouncing around Lina and her group.

Xellos frowned at this and said, "That Pinkie Pie is so..." but stopped cause he couldn't think of any word to fit there. Rainbow Dash just smiled and said, "Random? Yeah." Than the Roguish Priest looked towards Lina and would of laughed if doing so didn't mean his death at her hands. She stood there, looking at Pinkie Pie with her jaw open as Sylphiel just had on her worried expression about what Lina would do next. "How? What? Why?" That Lina had her her snapped face and started to cast again, "Darkness beyond twilight and crimson blood that flows...!" This made Gourry, Amelia, Zelgaddis, Sylphiel and Filia do a hogpile Lina, or would it be ponypile here he had to wonder? Either way, it worked to stop her as she was now angry at her friends. "Let me go! I need to do something to her!"

Xellos walked up to Pinkie Pie and said, "You know...I think we will be good friends." His eyes closed as he put on his smile and Pinkie Pie just danced and said, "Yay! I made a new friend!" As she started hopping around Xellos as she was apparently prone to doing. Than she bounced away saying something about, "Party for new ponies! Everypony invited!"

So, let me know what you guys think. If you think it is good and has potential, I will belt out a larger story from this scene itself that might be multiple chapters. Already got a title worked up but it's not very creative but works...My Little Slayers. ^_^

I've already been drawing for two hours now. For some reason, spending eight hours on one picture wasn't enough for me, so now I'm doing a three panel comic. I haven't even started on panel two yet.

EDIT: Nearly 14 hours in, and I've spent four hours drawing so far. So far I've more or less finished panel one and panel two is getting there. Have yet to really start on panel three, and I'm taking a break to let my right hand rest.

I've been thinking about specifically, I use what's apparently called a "scribe grip",, and I believe that may be the primary reason for my wrist pains. Should I just tough it out for the entirety of June and take more breaks here and there to relax my wrist, or switch to another grip sooner than that?

Day Four has begun (http://www.equestriadaily.com/2011/05/newbie-artist-training-grounds-day-4.html), and Day Three's submissions are up.

I think I'm starting to notice some level of improvement on my part, if only in the form of how long it takes me to draw these things. My submission for Day Two was incredibly simple, but it took me about eight hours to finish. Day Three (#171 (http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk269/BattaTheBeast/NonBrawl%20Stuff/TheGreatAndPowerfulPinkamenaRarity_DragonRage.png) ), however, took only seven hours despite being a three panel comic with loads more detail.

Things I've learned from this:
-Do a rough sketch of the entire pony before moving on to finishing details. Rarity's mane ended up behind the Trixie Cape because I finished the latter before even touching the former.
-Don't forget to draw the ears.
-The 3DS' camera is terrible for taking pictures of hand-drawn things. Not only does it take pictures at an absurdly low quality (640x480 fuzzy JPGs), but it actually lies to you about the borders of what you're snapping.

Basically, when I took that picture, I was trying to get the whole three panel comic into frame without any of the stuff around the comic. It turns out though that the 3DS' camera actually takes pictures of a much larger area (about 1/2" or so on every side), meaning if I'd gotten closer I wouldn't have had to crop anything out or sacrifice as much of the image's quality as I did.

I think I may have bitten off more than I can chew with Day Five (http://www.equestriadaily.com/2011/05/newbie-artist-training-grounds-day-5.html). Drawing your favorite pony with wings breaking the sound barrier.

So I decided to do another three panel comic, this time featuring as opposed to Fluttershy, they're tied for my favorite these days driving the Blue Falcon.

The only problem is, panel two is supposed to be a shot of Rarity in the cockpit, which is... harder than I anticipated. I have no idea where to begin with it. Should it be front-view, shoulder-view, or side-view? Should I just make it completely inside the cockpit, or should I draw it from an outside perspective? And so on.

EDIT: Scrapped the first picture, stuck with a two panel comic instead. Finished early, but it feels really lazy. The first panel looks completely unfinished, and due to everything being really small and zoomed out in the second panel, there's a distinct blurriness and lack of detail to it.

EDIT: Decided to not submit it. Figured I was missing the real point of the exercise, which was drawing a pegasi, and also I feel like crap today and don't want to draw something again.

I'd say give it a shot, but it's already 5:30 on the west coast, so unless you can put it together in under 6 1/2 hours you probably wouldn't be able to submit it in time.

So instead I'll say give it a shot and don't worry about submitting it. The event's primarily about improving yourself as an artist, and you don't really need to submit your pictures to the site for that.

Anyhow, I ended up doing Rainbow Dash as Mighty Casey (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casey_at_the_bat). It's over 120 years old, it totally counts. I was going to do Pinkie Pie as Pandora, but for some reason felt compelled not to. In hindsight I blame my drawing that might not be the right word between the characters of Casey and Rainbow Dash.

What was that about? The terrible movie from my childhood? The live action Super Mario Brothers movie. Only worth seeing in a group of people who care more about having fun watching the movie with each other than they care about watching the movie, really. It has its funny moments (most of them involving Dennis Hopper), but is otherwise exactly what I've come to expect from Hollywood adaptations of video game franchises.

To be fair, though, I -did- like the movie as a kid. I don't know why.

As for the good movie, it's Young Frankenstein. It's an affectionate parody of old horror movies, starring Gene Wilder as the grandson of Doctor Frankenstein. After a series of unlikely events, he ends up repeating his grandfather's famous experiment. I'd say hilarity ensues afterwords, but really, the movie is funny right from the start.

This is if you want to do it in GIMP, I don't know about other editors.

When you open up the file, add an alpha channel and then use the continuous color select tool to select and remove the white background. Do this with each layer of the image. Then use "save as" and when you go into the animation options, set the frames to "replace" instead of "stack".

I think Bridle Gossip works better. Got my brother to watch it, by showing him the Fluttershy singing evil enchantress clip. That clip converts so many people.
