(I still think there's a hell of a lot of possible Rainbow Dash subtext, but even with her, it's just unconfirmed fan speculation.)

EDIT: The Pilot (both parts) is generally acknowledged as the weakest two episodes of the series, and for good reason, even though both episodes have their moments (and both are important in terms of setting up the dynamics.) Honestly, if you had asked Pip Boy I would have guided you to start off with an episode like Dragonshy.

EDIT 2: It's weird looking back on how much I absolutely hated the title sequence the first time I saw it. Because by now I've gotten so used to it that I rather enjoy it, to be quite honest.
All the other songs in episodes are quite better, to be sure, but the intro now just gives me the warm and fuzzy feelings of "FUCK YES IT'S ANOTHER PONY EPISODE"

I was a die hard pony fan long before Friendship is Magic ever came out!

I even had the movies as a child, and some of them were nightmare fuel (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ct7csPFEKR8).

One was all like "I'm gonna wish myself across this stream!"

and I was all like "Hosnap! Mare, don't chu do that! You're gonna get transported to my little pony hell and get imprisoned by the bad guys and turned into evil demon horses to pull the bad guy's chariot!, and blondie mchuman pants won't be able to save you because I'm going to get too scared and stop the tape before the movie ends!"

And that was just the TV special. The actual movie was a softcore gray/purple goo scenario called the Smooze! IT ATE THE DAMN RAINBOW.

I've generally found when introducing the show to friends that that title sequence is always a stumbling block for them. I mean, a giant pink hot air balloon above the clouds with a unicorn and baby dragon inside, with the classic MLP intro. My friends always either start laughing or give me a really really unhappy look. Often both.

The entire point of MLP was for girls to rely upon girls and girl pony toys while all the boys played with their Transformers.

It was a mutual exclusion kind of thing, with only a few instances when boy and girl could be seen playing side by side, and pony rode upon Optimus Prime's trailer.

Question, are the episodes supposed to be watched in a different order than their episode numbers? Early on it was mentioned somewhere as being summer, then followed a winter episode, but then suddenly it's back to autumn again, so it seems that ep should have been in the middle. And you would have thought Twilight would have known about Pinkys predictions after a year of knowing her, yet 15 episodes in she only just finds out about that.

Maybe its just because I haven't watched the right episodes (Just the 2 part opener & some other one), but I haven't been all that enchanted. Love the art stye, but the show doesn't thrill me.

I do like still frames & occasional animated gifs are neat, but as far as the show goes, I'm not really into it. I think that they were made in a different order than aired, but search me for what it should have been. Another small detail would be that you can see the Parasprites devouring the dresses that Rarity makes several episodes later.

Rumor has it that Faust originally wanted to make this a more plot-based show, but the producers wanted people to be able to watch in any order, so it was just the pilot episodes with that attitude, and the rest are now these contained friendship moral stories.

Not that I'm complaining at all because they're still awesome.

I promised myself I'd avoid this craze. Yet I've now seen a total of one whole episode and about 10-15 minutes of two or three other episodes. Yaaaaay crappy internet.

I'm not exactly addicted to this, but I do like the show from what I've seen. The detail in the use of audio is surprisingly good, which is unusual in a cartoon. Kudos to the show's creators for that. The animation style is fun. The writing's pretty good, and the show has some truly clever moments mixed in with the usual cartoon cliches. New Spike is about 500% better than what I remember of his last incarnation. And the show has a definite edge over it's nineties predecessor, as I have yet to see an episode in which the girl ponies try to decide whether they want to grow up to be a teacher or a supermodel. Good lord I can't believe I just wrote a post comparing three decades worth of a cartoon aimed at selling plastic ponies to little girls. I think I've just hit a new low.


Also Applejack is now my favorite and I don't know why.

Generally speaking, this is why I tend to recommend newcomers not start with the Pilot episodes.

More specifically, the second half of the Pilot (Episode 2) is widely regarded as the worst in the series so far.

(Note that I actually personally disagree with this assessment and Episode 2 really didn't bother me as much with its corniness, I'm just reciting the general Brony positions on the episodes.)

But no, I'm pretty sure I'd recommend any newcomer start with an episode like Dragonshy, or possibly Swarm of the Century. Maybe even A Dog and Pony Show. (Those three are my favorite episodes that actually involve all the main cast.)

But if you give up after Pilot Part 2 just because Hasbro forced the writers to include some corniness to appeal to the target demographic, you're missin' out, man. You are missing out.

This leads me to believe that if I were to take My Little Pony's Cotton Candy Apocalypse I could only do it in moderation. Rainbow Dash is the first one to come to mind, because she's the brashest and most physical of the ponies, obviously the aggressor. But she tends to rush in and just as often as schooling the competition, manages to get her ass handed to her due to her hastiness. Applejack is a bit better at thinking her actions through, but still would be a bit too easily swayed by her emotions. Pinkie could very easily make it far in a fight simpy by confounding the enemy and her mastery of the element of surprise by being completely random. Though Rarity has shown she's got tactical prowess, her resistance to getting her hooves dirty would hold her back too much. Fluttershy would only win if she could same everybody for being so very awful. So my money's on Twilight, who not only has brains for tactical skill but magical prowess to make up for her physical needsWHYTHEFUCKAMIWRITINGTHISWHATISMYLIFE

I hate to say it, but Dash can only do that when like, she absolutely has to no matter what and can't pull it off consistently. And in a fight, sure she'd be first in and could do damage, but I don't see her lasting for long. Really, it's between Fluttershy and Twilight, almost every major enemy that has required actual combat to defeat has been beaten by either of these 2 (Nightmare Moon, Manticore, Ursa Minor, Dragon, Cockatrice, Hydra). We all know you do NOT mess with Fluttershy and Twilight is packing some serious magical firepower, so it could go either way.

Watched the first episode. Got about eight minutes into the second before I lost interest and started rewatching Spectacular Spider-Man. Frankly, it seemed like the sort of clichéd bull I could find on Nick Jr. Is it supposed to get better?

...But frankly, if you're choosing between My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and Spectacular Spider-Man, you are choosing between the two best kids' cartoons of the 21st century, so I certainly won't complain regarding your taste.

Arrogance, talent, and hard work are all integrally related to Rarity. Rarity encompasses the artist, and she actually does it well. As has been said, the secret to being a good writer is the opposite of being a good person: you have to believe that you have something of unparalleled importance to say, and you must not stop saying it until everyone listens.

Pinkie Pie shows her inherent superiority in all things musical through her reliance on minimal orchestral instruments to artificially augment her stellar voice. Rarity and the other ponies require full symphonies to mask the humdrum boring nature of their lyrics and their plain vocal inferiority. Pinkie, by contrast, performs directly from the heart, and her lyrical wizardry results with catchy tunes that will stay with you far longer, and then at one point you'll catch yourself silently humming her melodies while preparing questions to a Supreme Court Justice.
