This is one of those blockbuster movies that really need something to make them great. Somehow, it just lacks... It.

I can't quite put my finger on it, but taking a chance with a "Groundhog Day" concept and putting a movie around figuring out everyone in a train turns into a really slow affair. I kind of saw this on a whim having wanted to see Sucker Punch but turned off with a lack of story.

This one is decent but it's quite predictable to my older senses. No, the bomb wasn't the predictable part, the killer was. Sure, you have some false leads but I was like, yep, it's that guy right there as everything began repeating more than Majora's Mask.

It's rather unfortunate also... I can't say that this movie really has a lot of bad points in the story, except the horror of the program involved. The implications of the power of this program that Captain Colter is in, may be truly the implicit horror here.

All in all, this is a C rated movie. It's watchable, but it's really a rental, not a keeper.

I disagree, this movie was fucking awesome. I agree that it's a little predictable (I guessed it, then un-guessed, then re-guessed who the bomber was) but it doesn't matter because it pulled off the twists so outstandingly.

I had a lot of fun with it when I saw it tonight. It was behind Inception, but above The Matrix in terms of pseudo-alternate-world stories.

I haven't seen it yet, but the trailers made it seem like it was essentially just Quantum Leap: the movie.

Is that accurate?

One part Inception, one part Quantum Leap, one part Groundhog Day, and one part Next with Nick Cage.

The problem with time movies, the pacing just seems off. There's little in humor here and the ending just seems tacked on, which kind of cheapens the movie. You'll know exactly where it should have ended when you see it.

See... That's where I disagree.

The handjob of explaining all of that kinda threw me out of the loop. It's like, if you're a fan of QL, you'll love what we've done. But ironically, I'm too young for QL, but have enough experience to understand everything else about this movie. Maybe it was the lack of symbolism, which Inception did well? Maybe it was just the whole thought of Bill Murray suddenly coming up as a passenger?

I dunno, I didn't feel the urgency of an imminent threat. If Colter's past could have been explained a little better instead of the obvious reveal, I might have liked it more. But this just tended to make me go "Wait, WTF?!" instead of "... Holy.."

Yeah, I'm meta right now... I was surprised to learn about Colter on the train but thinking about it now, it's pretty damn clever (I just think a better way should have been found to foreshadow the ending)

I dunno, my problem was that, for a film that was only around a hour and a half, it lagged in the middle. A film that short shouldn't lag.

Nothing in this movie moved me.
It was predictable from the start.
I wouldn't really recommend it to folks.

Actually, another problem was that everything in there had been done before: Groundhog day, Minority Report, Twelve Monkeys, Lost, The Matrix. Not that's a bad thing, but there was too much that was the same, and not enough difference. Me and my girlfriend literally sat through the whole movie saying, 'that bit was like this other movie'

I wouldn't really say it was terrible by any measure though, just it felt like a solid idea that just needed more time in development.
