So yeah, seems we have a decent little cult of Magic players that have crawled out from under the woodwork. Maybe we can get a discussion thread going?

How long have you been playing? Got a favorite deck? I've been putting together some theme decks over the last few days. I've got some pretty funny ones:

Creatures:
3 Loam Lion (Scar)
3 Mtenda Lion (Simba)
3 Bird of Baradise (Zazu)
4 Karoo Meerkat (Timon)
4 Warthog (Pumba)
3 Gibbering Hyenas (Banzai, Shenzi, and Ed)
4 Stampeding Wildebeests (The stampede!)

Spells:
4 Ajani’s Mantra (Mufasa)
4 Journey to Nowhere (Simba's exile)
4 Retribution of the Meek ("Uh-oh, you called him a pig." )
3 Wellspring (The waterhole!)

Land:
4 Savannah
4 Brushland
4 Windswept Heath
4 Plains (Remember to find the Mirage expansion art)
4 Forest (Same here.)
1 Elephant Graveyard (Hyena home)

Creatures:
3 Folk of An-Havva (Townsfolk)
3 Plaguemaw Beast (Beast)
3 Eternal Witness (Belle)
3 Trophy Hunter (Gaston)
4 Wall of Blossoms (Castle grounds or Beast’s Flower)
4 Overgrown Battlement (Castle grounds)

Spells:
4 Rancor (Angry Beast!)
4 Shape of the Wiitigo (Transformation)
4 Calming Verse (Belle’s song)

Artifacts:
4 Candles of Leng (Lumiere)
4 Bloodclock (Cogsworth)

Land:
20 Forest

First, some music (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EynZ65x6Tmo&feature=fvwrel) to set the tone.

Then.....

http://www.wizards.com/magic/images/cardart/LE/Ramirez_DePietro.jpg

Pirates!

Creatures:
4 Cloud Pirates
4 Talas Warrior
4 Rishadan Airship
4 Rishadan Footpad
2 Ramirez DePietro

Spells:
4 Disperse
4 Treasure Hunt
4 Treasure Trove
4 Bribery

Artifacts:
4 Trusty Machete
2 Coat of Arms

Land:
12 Island
4 Gemstone Mine
4 Underground Sea
Was kinda tempted to make a pirates vs. ninjas duel deck set but I'm actually very bad at balancing decks, plus I'm a fan of four-of's which is almost unheard of in a duel deck. Plus pirates are almost unilaterally blue while ninjas are an even split between blue and black.

So I was reading through an old fairytale book last night and though it would be fun to build a deck around the story of Brer Rabbit and the Tar Baby. Hope you like it.

Creatures:
4 Zodiac Rabbit
4 Tar Pit Warrior
4 Wall of Brambles
4 Kezzerdrix
4 Tar Fiend

Spells:
4 Rancor
4 Undergrowth
4 Briar Patch
4 Weed Strangle
4 Caustic Tar

Land:
4 Bayou
4 Llanowar Wastes
6 Forest
6 Swamp

Brer Fox was a hard find for the deck since there are no green foxes. Luckily I remembered that there was a green fog-like spell from back in Alliances with a fox in the art huddled under a briar bush.

And then into a more serious deck: My current Legacy toy.

Creatures:
4 Putrid Imp
2 Sphinx of the Steel Wind
1 Iona, Shield of Emeria
1 Akroma, Angel of Wrath
1 Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite
1 Painter’s Servant

Spells:
4 Dark Ritual
4 Entomb
4 Exhume
4 Animate Dead
4 Buried Alive
4 Lighting Bolt
4 Swords to Plowshares
2 Hide//Seek

Land:
4 Scrubland
4 Badlands
4 Arid Mesa
2 Tainted Fields
2 Tainted Peaks
2 Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth
2 Swamp

Anyway, what do you guys got to show? I've been playing since right around Arabian Nights and have been to a handful of medium profile tournaments in my day. My only claim to nerdy Magic fame is that I've actually played a hand or two with the game's creator, Richard Garfield.

Was introduced to it long ago by my older brother who gave me his leftover junk cards (over hundreds of them, but still...). Have played Apprentice making 20+ decks for kicks including a few that made my friend want to kick me in the teeth.

However, I don't have anyone who is interested in playing nearby to actually buy cards to play with, especially since it is an expensive hobby (like many others) that you can't play by yourself with (without making fun of yourself or playing solitaire version or something).

Stopped playing mainly because my firewall decided to go hating on Apprentice and I haven't gotten it to work since. Hoping it won't be the case now.

Well I want to give Apprentice a shot but putting some of my decks into it seems to be an exercise in futility. I almost got my Dark Clerics deck loaded except they don't have Recurring Nightmare in their card list. And most of my other decks seem to have cards that are too new to be supported.

There are patches, apparantly, which give you the later sets. I think it also has a card creation thing, so you can add in new cards that aren't patched in?

I was able to find up to Scars in apprentice, I'll go in and put a link to where i got the patches when Im home. My current favorite deck (read: Only deck :P), I have it on paper and in MODO

Creatures:
1 Aether Membrane
1 Wall of Frost
1 The Unspeakable
4 Izzet Guildmage
2 Niv Mizzet, the Firemind
2 Stuffy Dolls

Artifacts/Enchantments
2 frozen Aether

Instant/Sorcery
4 Desperate Ritual
3 Glacial Ray
2 Peer Through Depths
4 Reach Through Mists
2 Sift Through Sands
2 Invoke the Firemind
1 Sleep
2 Eerie Procession
4 lava spike

Land:
2 Steam Vents
2 izzet Boilerworks
2 Shivan Reef
10 Island
6 Mountain

The deck plays pretty consistently. I usually win... with under 5 life left. If I get to turn 8, and have my combo pieces (usually the only one I don't have is the mage, since I have to dig instead of search), I win. if you see me with 6 mana open and a guildmage on the board... I win.

There's plenty of artifact/enchantment fetch cards in white so you can tutor up your combo rather fast. Plus you can pair it with blue for counter magic as well as even more effective artifact search spells like Fabricate (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=205348). And if you go the blue/white route, you can also use insta-transmuters like Polymorph (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=191380) or Shape Anew (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=194201) off of the back of an artifact or creature token generating spell like Master's Call (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=221554) or one of the Elspeth (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=212241) Planeswalker (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=217825) cards.

I've been picking up packs of the newest sets recently. I especially like Decimator Web (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=214055) because it actually uses the word "decimate" correctly.

i could... but I like the arcane subtheme too much. Getting out the Unspeakable with the tripple search cards happens one in 20 games, but when it does... no one sees it coming. I can also do an Ok job using rituals to power out a huge invoke the firemind

I understand. I used to run a pretty neat blue/green spirit/arcane deck that used the Unspeakable search combo as well.

Hm, I'd post my decklists here but I don't actually have my decks in front of me right now. How annoying. Oh well, I'll go off of memory. Keep in mind I'm probably definitely forgetting some things if the numbers don't look right.

Another thing to keep in mind is my friends and I play Legacy, so we kinda try and make all of our decks efficient as possible, goofy concept or not.

Lands: 3x Badlands
4x Bloodstained Marsh
3x Wasteland
9x Mountain
1x Swamp

Creatures: 4x Goblin Lackey
1x Skirk Prospector
4x Goblin Piledriver
4x Goblin Matron
4x Goblin Warchief
2x Goblin Chieftain
1x Siege-Gang Commander
4x Goblin Incinerator
3x Warren Instigator
1x Wort, Boggart Aunty
1x Goblin Sharpshooter

Spells: 3x Warren Weirding

Sadly I can't remember every card from the deck, but there's the meat of it. Skirk Prospector (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=243465) + Siege Gang (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=193751) + Sharpshooter (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=33695) = DEATH. And, ya know, everything means death too, but what can ya do? Can't believe I forgot my longest running deck, though... Anyway, moving on!

Lands: 3x Badlands
4x Bloodstained Marsh
9x Swamp
4x Mountain

Spells: 4x Duress
4x Hymn to Tourach
4x Dark Ritual
4x Terminate
3x Blightning
2x Damnation
4x Lightning Bolt

Creatures: 3x Tombstalker
3x Nyxathid

Artifacts/Enchantments: 3x Sensei's Divining Top
4x The Rack
3x Phyrexian Arena

Again forgetting some cards, but that's that. This one's fun if only because it's just so generically dicky. Discard? Control? Oh the humanity! Now, moving on!

Lands: 20x Plains

Creatures: 4x Hada Freeblade
4x Kazandu Blademaster
3x Preeminent Captain
3x Ballyrush Banneret
2x Recruitment Officer
3x Soltari Champion
1x Captain of the Watch
3x Elite Vanguard

Spells: 3x Swords to Plowshares
3x Path to Exile

Artifacts/Enchantments: 2x Veteran's Armaments
2x Umezawa's Jitte
3x Honor of the Pure

More forgetting I think! But this one's pretty self explanatory. Soldiers and all. So simple!

Lands: 3x Savannah
3x Wooded Foothills
9x Plains
5x Forest

Creatures: 4x Martyr of Sands
4x Noble Hierarch
4x Tarmogoyf (I think)
3x Kitchen Finks
4x Knight of Meadowgrain
4x Serra Ascendant

Spells: 3x Swords to Plowshares
3x Path to Exile
2x Wrath of God
3x Proclamation of Rebirth
4x Scent of Jasmine
2x Beacon of Immortalitly

Still forgetting some for this one as well, I think, but just note that Proclamation (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=107341) + Martyr (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=121263) is ridiculous. I've actually legitimately gotten over 1000 life with this just because my friend was stubborn. I don't think it'll ever happen again.

Anyway, that's all from me for now. But just know that I also have a Blue/Black/Green mill deck that uses Lord of Extinction (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=177922) for laughs and the almighty BEAST DECK. FEAR THE BEASTIES.

My Deck is pretty much a combination of the Kamigawa and a few Ravinca. I call it Spirits of Life and Death as the main theme is Spirit Cards. ^_^ That's the one I was going to use against whoever else was interested in playing a game here on NPF. I run a Green and Black deck with Iname as One (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=74618) and Horobi, Death's Wail (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=78854).

Which irks me to no end. Especially because I'm a big fan of the novels that accompany the game. I lost a lot of my favorite characters killing off Phyrexia the first time around. I was kinda hoping that the Mirrans would win and we'd be done with Phyrexia once and for all.

Karn's looking pretty badass though. His new Planeswalker card is hilariously awesome.

The only deck I still own is a white/artifact deck where nothing in it costs more than 2 mana. Every white creature in the deck had flying as well, and there is shit loads of cheap equipment in it. The general idea was to get out as many creatures as fast as possible, and if the game continued on for a while I would beef up my army with equipment to stand up to tougher creatures.

I built in it direct response to my friends' general strategy of building decks where the general theme was a Xanatos Pileup.

I am the combo deck player in my group, so much so that the previous combo decker in the group started playing more straightforward decks in response for fear the group would explode. Generally I abuse triggered abilities and global enchantments, to make a pretty wimpy card or two frighteningly powerful.

I've already shared some of my decks here before so I'll just put my newer one that has been working surprisingly well.

Decklist
This is the actual decklist, there's a bunch of cards that I have 1 or 2 copies of, that I'd put 4 of in the deck if I had them, and some stuff that doesn't work that well but I never took out. It's still a work in process

The Star
Ink-Treader Nephilim (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=107092) x4

The Little Brothers
Precursor Golem
(http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=206348) x2
Yore-Tiller Nephilim (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=107093) x1
The Backup
Spire Golem x4
Dross Golem x3
Razor Golem x1
The Roadies
Merfolk Looter x1
Bonded Fetch x 1
The Shenanigans
Undying Flames (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=87602) x2 - The Epic Move mentioned earlier
Demonic Dread x2
Slave of Bolas x2
Sigil Blessing x2
Eratic Mutation x2
Twitch x1
Quickchange x1
Candles' Glow x1
Viridescent Wisps x1
Otherwordly Journey x1
Heat Shimmer x1
Rite of Replication x1
Unsummon x1
Spellbook x1
Support
Terrarion x2
Chromatic Sphere x2
Spellbook x1
Land
Rupture Spire x2
Ancient Ziggurat x1
Swamp x2
Forest x3
Mountain x2
Plains x4
Island x6

The deck absolutely depends on Ink-Treader Nephilim's triggered ability (Whenever he is the only creature targeted by a instant/sorcery copy it for each other creature it could target, each copy targets one of those creatures), and the ruling that Ink-Treader's controller, controls all copies of the spell. Precursor Golem is a backup card with a similar ability (whenever a instant/sorcery targets a single golem copy that spell for each other golem it could copy), although the ruling for precursor is the original caster, controls all copies making it slightly (but not by much less useful) and in some ways more useful that each precursor golem will trigger off the same spell (so if there are two out, it copies twice to each golem). Undying flames has you exile cards from the top of your library till you hit a non-land card then deals damage to target creature or player equal to that card's converted mana cost with the Epic keyword from Kamigawa (get a copy of this spell minus the epic ability in during each of your upkeeps but you cannot cast ANY spells for the remainder of the game).

Once ink-treader is out play a spell from the shenanigan section and target the ink-treader as appropriate. The golems are there to provide a bit of creature support while making precursor more worthwhile (as well as being 6 cost for Undying Flames).

Undying flames on ink-treader is the move that originally inspired this deck although it is not used very much because it's extremely risky and often kills me before my opponent (because I run out of cards). Because you copy the original spell, and because they all exist on the stack before any single instance resolves. You get an Epic copy each turn for the rest of the game based on the number of creatures in play when you originally cast the spell. So if you have 3 creatures (one of them ink-treader) and your opponent has 6. You cast the spell 9 times this turn (each has to target a creature). And every remaining turn you cast the spell 9 times (and can target the opposing player directly or any cratures). You can't cast any other spells (only play land, and use whatever you have left on the field) for the rest of the game. Its a big risk, you may hit all the high mana cost cards targeting 1/1 creatures and only get the 1 and 2 cost cards when targeting the player.

The next block of text is all the different ways the shenanigans works and if you know the cards/can look them up you really don't need to read it, but the deck has done such odd things before I felt it worth listing.

Viridescent wisps and quickchange are there to take advantage of their effect, allowing you to draw a card for each targetable creature in the game for 1g or 2u hopefully one of them is the spellbook and the rest are your good spells. Quickchange has the added benefit of allowing you to thrawt a terror attempt by making your creatures black and everyone else's nonblack. Demonic dread lets you prevent all blocking for one turn (and cascades into one additional card, the copies do not cascade). Heat shimmer and rite of replication gives you a copy of every creature (or 5 if you can kick it, which is possible when you draw a lot of land from the wisps or quickchange and your game ending move is prevented). Heat shimmer tokens last only one turn but if you're preventing all blocking this turn anyway. Sigil blessing is gives your creatures Y+2/Y+2 for a turn where Y is the number of creatures you control (everyone else gets the same benefit). Candles' glow nets life when blocked/blocking. Slave of Bolas lets you take control of all creatures for a single turn, then sacrifice them so they can't be used against you again. Unsummon, and journey to nowhere protect you against overrun, wipes tokens and when your opponent's field is better then yours (and you can't take advantage of it) unsummon can make it costly. Erratic mutation can cut some creatures down to size, and lets you sort your deck in chunks/see where everything is.

I'm really annoyed at New Phyrexia, but completely unsurprised. Rosewater made such a huge deal about loving poison/infect stuff and about how it's there to stay now, and how it's still not tapped dry, and more tricks, and ugh.

Honestly, I think that Infect/Poison remain pretty horribly designed still, and rather unfun or unbalancing mechanics that were just shoehorned in because they could. But yeah, unsurprised about New Phyrexia, since they weren't gonna bring Magic's Big Bad back for 2/3*s a block, and the mechanic that Rosewater is insane for wasn't going to only exist for 2/3s a block, especially when there was still a ton of design space left for it.

*Really like 1/4 or less, because Scars had very little poison, and Mirrodin Besieged was 50% Phyrexian, not all of which was poison.

Tev
04-14-2011, 02:06 PM
I honestly think someone beat up Mark's shitty poison deck back when he was little and he's been on a thirst for vengeance ever since. I was honestly fine with the Poisonous mechanic that they previewed in Future Sight. It was the correct balance of how poison works and how it should interact with the game. Whoever got the idea that they should staple Poisonous to Wither and call it Infect deserves a punch in the groin. And Rosewater deserves an even harder punch for extolling all the wonders of design reintroducing poison counters into the game would bring and then essentially gluing Infect onto cards that already exist. Thanks for out-moding Darksteel Colossus you jerk. Such a wonderful display of the creative process.

Yeah, in general, I feel like poison has been terribly executed, and really hasn't lead to well designed cards, or anything awesome.

Does anyone here have apprentice and have a deck ready or so?

I made a new deck that I'm very much proud of. It's not an infinite combo deck and it doesn't use a card that states "You win the game" or "Target Player loses the game", but yet the deck is very enjoyable (at least when I'm playing it by myself to test it). Several times I've played through it, I learned something new about its full potential, and that makes me smile. ^^

I can't actually promise that it is powerful though. It seems very potent through individual playtesting, but having no one to practice with, so I can't promise anything.

Not putting my decklist up yet... I guard my secrets religiously. :3

What are you trying to do?

I'll write up a tutorial or something tomorrow, after sleep.

Tev
04-17-2011, 01:01 AM
Well first I tried to cast an instant. Nothing actually happened and instead I ended up with a copy of the instant on the battlefield that I could tap or untap, which is not at all what one does with instants. The instant itself was Entomb, which should have let me search my library for a creature and put it in the graveyard. Instead of this, nothing happened. When I clicked on my deck icon all it really let me do was draw a card or draw my whole deck? When drawing my whole deck, instead it made a load noise and said it put my deck into my graveyard? Then when I clicked on my graveyard it told me there was nothing there?

Like I said, every button I press seems to not do at all what it should do. Everything I attempt to do in this program ends in utter failure.

Menarker
04-17-2011, 02:00 AM
The reason why Apprentice is allowed and free-ware is because it has only the bare-bones of rules and everything else is pretty much hand-done.

Basically, for most actions, you can rightclick the names for a list of options. For slightly more complicated commands, you manually do so by going to the "Action", "View" and "Show" commands located on the top of the screen.

For your example of searching your library to put it in your graveyard, you go to the "View" tab, View Library, and it'll pop up a window and show you your library and in order from top of deck to bottom of deck. You can right click the names of the cards to get specific options like sending to grave. You can also drag the names out of the window and put it on the table as if you were moving files out of a folder.

Nothing happens automatically.

The next time you see me on, PM me and see if you can hook up a game with me. I'll be glad to give you a tutorial on the commands.

Well, it looks like New Phyrexia got completely spoiled this week. All I can say is.....

Hoooooooolllllllyyyyyyy fuck. (http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showthread.php?t=317624)

EDIT: And here's (http://www.gatheringmagic.com/magic-the-gathering-sets/scars-mirrodin-block/phyrexia/new-phyrexia-spoilers/) a link that comes with images.

The star of the set so far, for me, is Torpor Orb.

Torpor Orb 2
Artifact (R)
Creatures entering the battlefield don't cause abilities to trigger.

I'm already working it into a Phyrexian Dreadnought deck for 12/12 creature with trample on turn one shenanigans.

Menarker

Or you could, you know, use it in the same deck as Phage and be able to summon her from the deck or graveyard without hardcasting her full cost without losing as part of her effect.

Honestly I like Torpor Orb more for its anti-combo potential. If you can rush it out (Dark Rit, Lotus Petal, etc.), it completely kills any chance of Dragonstorm going off if they use their usual methods of Kokusho or Bogardan Hellkite. Even Goblins gets the shaft on that one (Ringleader and Matron). And those are the easy examples, there's plenty more other than that.

But I'd say my favorite from this set has to be Phyrexian Obliterator. Take Negator and make him ridiculous for one more mana? ...Mono-black aggro, here I come!

Life's Finale, Geth's Verdict, Entomber Exarch, Dismember, and Chancellor of the Dross are just... :drools: perfect for me. Almost makes want to go all black and stead of Black/White.

Caress of Phyrexia is pretty cool too.

As for White. I love Remember the Fallen, Phyrexian Unlife, Dispatch, Chancellor of the Annex, Due Respect, and Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite.

Tev
04-26-2011, 01:18 AM
I'm most certainly sold on Elesh and Chancellor of the Annex for white.

For red, I'm really wanting to get my hands on some Bludgeon Brawls just so I can equip my creatures with junky old artifacts that cost too much like Aladdin's Lamp and bet people in the face with them.

Oh yeah, speaking of Equps, Puresteel Paladin works pretty stupidly well with Stoneforge Mystic (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=198383). My friend has a mono-white equipment deck that looks like it's gonna be pretty epic using those two, a bunch of Kor creatures, and a bunch of ridiculously efficient equipments like Jitte (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=81979), SoFI (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=46429), and other such things.

...but the real kicker is that he could get Argentum Armor (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=217967) out and equipped for two mana while drawing a card. Now THAT'S scary.

I have a question though...why didn't the Mirrans turn to Darksteel. It is indestructible and I doubt Phyrexia has anything close in that regards.

rpgdemon

They can't turn into it, it just occurs on Mirrodin naturally. And, as shown in Blightsteel Colossus, Phyrixians can convert it.

Crup...that really does suck. So basically the entire Multiverse is going to get f-ed over because someone let this oil win at Wizards?

Well, at the moment they are still kinda stuck on New Phyrexia. They don't have any working planar portals, and they don't really know other planes exist beyond some oily feeling that there used to be something.....more out there. If all the little baby 'Walkers just picked up their toys and left, the new Phyrexians would be stuck where they are until something in the hive-mind pointed them in the right direction. The hard part really is making sure none of that damn oil gets off-world and I have a sneaking suspicion that Tezzeret is going to fuck that up for everyone.

Because Wizards will want it that way! >_< Look at 4th Edition D&D and Forgotten Realms. They are basically out to make it all one giant fight with darkness.

God, I remember when I came out of Magic retirement for Ravnica block. Umezawa's Jitte was some of the most overpowered crap i've ever seen in a format...

And you could get one in a starter deck, for $10. I made about 200 bucks off that card, since I have no real game store in town, but target kept restocking the betrayers theme decks.

I haven't played Magic since middle school, and I teach middle school now so that's how long it's been. I remember very little about the game other than a friend of mine had this infuriating build involving some kind of life regeneration and a swarm of killer bees that made him virtually impossible to damage, let alone kill. He wound up retiring the build because he got too bored with winning.

Also, my cousin got me into Magic Online (Like, "Here, I bought you your elf deck, now play."), and my elf deck is doing well.

So honest question here. What happens if I imprint an artifact land onto a Prototype Portal? (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=209009) Am I still constrained to the one land a turn rule. I know the converted mana cost of the land is zero and playing it isn't a problem. The question is if I can do it more than once.

DarkDrgon
06-10-2011, 06:26 AM
no, you can tap the portal for a land at any time. if you leave it untapped, you can even do it on your opponents turn.

Professor Smarmiarty
06-10-2011, 08:30 AM
The key being you can only play one land a turn from your hand but any other methods are fine, be they spells creatures or artefacts. OTherwise things like Rampant Growth wouldn't work.

Well if that's true my Mirrodin block infinite combo deck, so named because I incorporated essentially every Mirrodin infinite combo I could into it, is now even more horribly broken. This would allow for the generation of infinite amounts of colored mana while at the same time giving me twice the amount of colorless mana.

I really need to get on with modifying this deck and finding someone to play with. I just really want to imprint a Prototype Portal on a Prototype Portal once just to screw with my opponent. Going to have to change the name of the deck though to something having to do with factories since I would then be able to generate infinite copies of just about every card in the deck.

Professor Smarmiarty

Pretty much every deck from mirrodin is broken as shit.

Indeed. There's only been one block in the history of Magic more ridiculously broken than the Mirrodin block, and that's the Urza block, so known for crazy broken combos and containing cards that were banned before their very own pre-release.

Its probably why I love it so much. All shorts of fun shenanigans are possible.

Anyway now that that's out of the way I'm thinking of putting together an all white deck as well that is nothing but soldiers and maybe a few walls. It will also be really really equipment heavy as well. Like I have this one piece of equipment that lets creatures with defender attack and ever since I saw it I've wanted to equip a wall with a sword, a shield, and something to make it fly along with this thing to allow it to attack. The end result being a castle full of soldiers that flies around and attacks people.
