View Full Version : Avvy RP VIII: Discussion VIII - This Isn't Love

We were long overdue a new discussion thread.
Ah a duet. It's been too long. My only sadness is robot did not explode.
I... I have to admit I didn't get the joke until I clicked that Wikipedia link.
Since the singing alone is not enough to cause robosplosion, I guess some of youse guys will have to get in there and punch things until Bob/Steve/Joe/Vinnie robosplodes instead.

My only sadness is that the robot didn't explode.
Song's not over yet; anything can happen! I mean, we still haven't gotten to the "Think I'm mutating, just so you know" line yet. Plus now we have a drummer. That can only mean good things, right?

Okay, I might have embroidered on Bard's attack just a little.
Furyrobo is probably dead, maybe, but throwing in anything extra on top is good!
And the NPF was alright all along, probably!
Aside from a slight moon-beast infestation (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNg7pwqIVf4).
Eh, saw it coming.

Overcast
05-22-2011, 06:29 AM
Rovercast returns!
Tell me if this is any good, I'm tired right now so these powers may not be a good idea when I wake up in the morning.
Name: Rovercast
Abilities: Overcast's transformation into a robot has gifted him with a few natural gifts.
Robostrength!: Being a robot Rovercast is a fair bit stronger than your average person. So he doesn't need any gloves to lift big things over his head.
Post-quantum Processors: Rovercast is a highly advanced piece of technology, and can run through programs like nobody's business.
Robo-superiority!: Robots do not eat. Do not drink. But they feel. They feel just like you and me.
On top of that Overcast's quirkiness has always been helpful, but never quite as efficient as he would have liked. With his newfound takeover of a shiny new robot body he has refined some of his abilities.
Changegun/thrower: The infinite masses of change that used to fill his pockets have been given a more suitable means for Overcast to fire them from rather than relying on ninjalike throwing skills. He now blasts them like ammunition, and can spray liquid metals all over the place.
Digital Voidlight Blade: A physical manifestation of the energies that OC used to use to exaggerate and dull events that went on around him. Now he just makes crazy things happen. People who are hit by the blade have two prospects, either OC is not being weird and they get cut, or he is and then weird shit happens. Like growing an extra face that doesn't like you, or telling all your friends that you wear women's clothing. It is more suitable to use the latter on mooks though, because bosses have the willpower to resist the unconcentrated quirkiness.
Equipment:
The Box: The Box was supposed to be indestructible, but the power of fury caused it to bust on multiple cases. It has since been reinforced, but is greatly inflexible now. No longer able to make it's own body it has to invade someone else's whenever he dies off. But it is not truly beyond indestructible. It isn't even in this universe anymore.

Just to get people thinking, we're going to need to get through the moonbeasts and to the NPF somehow. Gotta start planning!
For a start, here's three ideas that popped into my head:
1) Blitzkrieg! We take everything spacegoing and fast we have and we charge in there like it's a trench on the Death Star. Flocks of moonbeasts inevitable. Probably a bumpy landing.
2) Undercover! We all put on clever disguises and sneak in there like its Metal Gear. May need to see how good we are at acting like moonbeasts or hiding in cardboard boxes.
3) Wait! Maybe they'll go away.
On the subject of moon monsters, there's a lot of variety. The easy way to think of some is take a regular monster, then make it weird and alien. Or add crystals. You know the drill. Beware the drill-unicorn.

Someone has shown up to explain the plot!
Not the best time to put my 'Put more NPCs in Avvy' ideas into action I suppose.
But it's about time we hired a narrator.
I am on top of my schedule again, so let's get this thing done.
Stupid North Pole fight has been put back for now because it only really affects AB and I didn't want to delay posting another day or two simply to include it.
To summarise the important things, the NPF is on the Moon, the NPF is being invaded by moon-monsters, there is someone at the city centre doing horrible things to the fabric of space and time (which is the reason for the moon monsters) and we have spaceships to get there.

Bluh, sorry for taking so long to write an update.
I think I'm suffering from a bit of ending fatigue, which is not a good thing for a GM to have!
Time to round everyone up and get things finished.

I'm baaaack!
Finally have time for this RP. Hope my post was alright! Busted out my Dragonzord, though your guess is as good as mine as to how long it'll last in battle. I talked the upgrade over with Arhra before - a long time ago - and, in case I haven't posted the concept pieces yet, the Dragonzordy Napan Custom - Magical Kawaii (Variant T) is mainly a combination of the Dragonzord (http://img853.imageshack.us/img853/7205/dragonzord.jpg), and, uh, this thing (http://img212.imageshack.us/img212/6841/12926484mj8.jpg). You're free to decide what that might look like in your head. God knows, I can't describe it.
Oh, and yes, I am cheating. It isn't my fault that none of my characters have been musically inclined to date!
Incidentially, for anyone wondering about why I threw an Evangelion reference in, there's a couple reasons. Simplest is that Fly Me to the Moon is the Ending Theme from the original Evagelion anime. More complicated one is that anything related to Arhra - and obviously, we're going to be fighting possessed Arhra I - has strange Evangelion overtones, for some reason. Rose is lampshading that, or trying to, at least.
Anyway, I hope you like the milk Mauve! You wouldn't believe how hard it was to get that. Even with the infinite power of the Fury!

Cheating in a music contest, Teal? You are the lowest of the low! And shame on you for helping him, Bard!
I'm almost disappointed neither of you had your giant robots smash up the stage with a giant guitar.
Well I guess I now have no choice but to have a certain someone sing the song that ends the world then.

I...am horribly amused.
Think I'll give Overcast post priority over me, since I'd like to build off his reaction! Has Bard broken his heart of tin!?
Also: Summoning giant, inappropriately dressed robot is totally valid form of artistic expression. Jerk.

It has been a crazy busy week with relocations and such, so to get the ball rolling again I've decided to post up the different areas as I complete them.
Going to be away next week as well, so this seemed the best way to keep things moving.

Bluuuuuuurgh, wanted to get more scenes done but have been sick and now will be on a boat!
Week hiatus!
EDIT: Am no longer on a boat and am properly moved into new house. Let's do this thing.
You may have noticed a few recurring patterns in the dimensional maze you're trapped in. Should be entertaining to see who is first to figure the way out.
AB, I left off the section with your crew members on the Moon since I was having some trouble visualising it. Could you give me a little info on what Alean, Soleen and Rachel look like and what they're capable of?
Band scene not touched because waiting for song.

Dear God Arhra, you are making me choose between canon, logic, and impatience? What kind of evil creature would tempt a man so?
Astral Harmony
09-29-2011, 09:37 PM
I uhhh...hope this helps.
Name: Alean
Position: Vice Captain of the Azure Aesir
Appearance: Tall and somewhat muscular with long blonde hair in two braided ponytails that extend to the knees. Wears a sleeveless, legless black bodysuit with fingerless gloves, leather boots and a "cage of belts" like Lulu from FFX except they crossover nearly everywhere, forming sleeves and leggings of their own. How this network of crossing leather belts remain suspended around Alean's body is anyone's guess. Fashion in her universe defies nature.
Weapons/Fighting Style: Alean uses a fully-customizable assault rifle that can be modified with parts via a backpack to fire various other cliche armaments like grenades, fire, harpoons (underwater only), and is snipe-capable.
Name: Rachel
Position: Raider (one of the first to see combat during raids)
Appearance: Short and lean, Rachel wears a yellow cotton jacket with a detachable hood (always detached and still worn on the head), blue denim hot pants and white sneakers. She has deep green eyes and brown hair in two thin ponytails that go to the waist.
Weapons/Fighting Style: Uses two combat knives along with acrobatic style martial arts built more around evading and attacking enemies when they are vulnerable during a botched attack.
Name: Soleen
Position: Inquisitor (gathers intel on various things of interest)
Appearance: Tall and voluptuous with short, dirty blonde hair and blue eyes. Wears typical noble mage chick clothes in gold with dark blue trim. Also wears the most jewelry (rings, earrings, bracelets, necklaces, etc.) but all are for amplifying and focusing summoned magicks.
Weapons/Fighting Style: Uses no weapons specifically, and instead employs a broad variety of offensive elemental magic, but prefers to use the fire element above all others. It just feels right to her.

Alright, I finally got that next post together.
Still waiting for Mauve's song to update the band section. The Sailor Moon bit only needs you to post though Pyros.
Lava Factory's still waiting on someone who's not me to post. Don't fall for Steve's tricks, Teal and Bard!
Steel, you have a free hand in commiting murder and escaping to any of the other active scenes. Go nuts.
Overcast, Metal Gear Over is working out to be the best thing. Whatever you're doing, keep doing it!
AB thanks for that writeup.
Since they first appeared some time ago and never got a proper ability listing, here's a similar one
Name: ASURA Type-A
Position: Healer/Refinery
Appearance: The Type-A wears a white, hooded, partial robe, reminescent of a tunic, leaving her armoured and obviously robotic limbs uncovered. She's short, curvy and has pinky hair. She has an innocent outlook and might conceal an intense inner darkness.
Weapons/Fighting Style: Most of her techniques rely on her Nanomist, pink clouds of machine cells that can interact with each other and conduct her powers, allowing her to form energy shields and repair or briefly enhance the other ASURAs. She can process small ammounts of raw material into more machine cells to stock up her nanomist reservoir and make repairs. Using the Type-D's Conversion Polymer is extremely efficient. Her only dedicated weapon is a tiny but incredibly deadly knife.
Name: ASURA Type-B
Position: Bombardment/Energy Harvester
Appearance: The Type-B has long, pale blue hair and a tall, willowy body. Glowing wings formed of energy shapes hover behind her. She usually has a cool and controlled manner, but zombiehood seems to have wiped out most higher brain functions.
Weapons/Fighting Style: The Type-B is a magic user, using the energetic elements such as lightning, fire laser, acid and gravity. She uses her Mana Condensate Wings to store energy drained from her surroundings using her Depletion Zone. The Depletion Zone can also be a defence from energy attacks. She's the weakest ASURA at hand to hand combat.
Name: ASURA Type-C
Position: Fast Attack/Biological Interface
Appearance: The Type-C is leanly muscular with a shock of orange hair. Her armour is quite light, mainly being the striated material of the ASURA's base layer. Her outlook on life seems to be cheerful nihilisim.
Weapons/Fighting Style: The Type-C favours the blitzkrieg. She relies on extreme speed, brutality and her Bomber Knives to take down enemies. Her Bomber Knive are segmented similarly to a stanley knife and can fire off segments which explode. It can also use them as a whip sword. Due to her reanimated state, new segmenets are generated a lot slower. She also has an inexplicable charm ability.
Name: ASURA Type-D
Position: Heavy Support/Mass Harvester
Appearance: The Type-D has an Amazonian build and is plated with heavy armour. Her green hair is shoulder length. She lugs around two large miniguns, althoguh she appears to have misplaced one. She seems to thoroughly enjoy her work and may, in actual fact, be incredibly silly.
Weapons/Fighting Style: the Type-D relies on being big, heavily armoured and strong enough to dual wield miniguns. Her specialty is Conversion Polymer, the ability to degenerate inanimate objects into goo which is a primitive form of the technoplasm the ASURAs are made out of. She has boolets that can do it.
Name: ASURA Type-E
Position: Leader/Technological Interface
Appearance: Aside from purple hair, the Type-E has an uncanny resemblance to the adolesecent body Arhra V was stuck in for most of the Valker attack. She's the shortest ASURA and is quite thin. She's not a very confident leader.
Weapons/Fighting Style: The Type-E is designed to interface with other technology and adapt it to ASURA use. Her copy of V's Ouroboros Drive is not functioning due to her low energy state. Her free access to V's Dimensional Storage for various gizmos is also not working on account of V being dead to within rounding error. She's down to using her multimodal energy rifle.
Being zombies has seriously degraded their combat capability. They shouldn't even be operational now drugs are gone but that mysterious and familiar golden energy is acting as a crappy Fury substitute.
As for the Wrecked Ship, you have a pretty free hand on deciding how and how quickly you want to get to the escape pod, AB. To the Mooooooon! Quick question: Labyrinth or join up with the rest of your crew?

My god I'm having trouble remembering this game exists. Thought I'd put more effort into this post than my last one. While I think on it, I may need to write up a new bio for my Avatar incarnation (now that he's not doing Drugs), but I think the main thing I need to say about him is he uses spells from RPs on the NPF now. Most recently, those were Teleport (Magical Fracas), Light (Old Fire Emblem RP) and Crimson Shield (Magical Fracas).
Oh, and Bard, that wasn't nice! =( He was your frieeeeend. When you push your oldest most loyal friend into the lava, it makes my status as a new friend feel kinda tenuous!

If you don't get the joke with the lava spirit, look up Aesop's fables. Or get the cliff notes version from the 'Honest Axe' trope on TV Tropes (I'm sorry).
Bard is maybe a nice person, depending on his choice!
Probably straight to the labyrinth. I'd like to keep my active (read: taking action in post) crew as small as possible. That way we're not all falling over ourselves just because of me.
Would you prefer me to move the scene ahead to that immediately then? It seemed like there'd be a few interesting options to handle getting to the escape pods like just showing some MacGuyver-esque ingenuity in applying tools and abilities or just having a conversation on the way there to give the side characters a little more spotlight.
As for minimising active crew, what about the ones already on the Moon?
Still waiting on everyone else.
