So... I started my own Slenderblog a while ago. It starts here (http://comicbooklimbo.blogspot.com/2011/04/slight-change-of-plans.html).
It's not of real high quality but I've had a lot of fun making it so I thought I might as well post it here.

Holy crap. Someone on Tumblr has been liveblogging my series. Someone was interested enough to liveblog it. That's soooo cool.

Hey, grats man! I dunno what that means, but if someone's interested enough in your work to show it, that's awesome!

I knew a guy who wrote a Slenderman blog once. Never saw him again.

Hey, I remember you mentioned that. Googled up "slendefense" and rediscovered this (http://howtoprotectyourselffromslenderman.blogspot.com/).
Sorry, Kid, but I'm not going to click your thingy, I think I'm in deep enough anyway. :x

Sorry man. I hate when people post in character on forums so I tend to be pretty forthcoming about this kind of stuff. Plus, would anyone even care if they didn't think/know it was going to be a slenderblog?

Great. Now I'm following that one too. I'll have to see if I can incorporate it into mine in some manner.

Well, looking at the time stamps it may not be much to follow. That guy seems to have either successfully avoided Slenderman by deciding to quit writing completely, or the shield didn't work at all.
(I may be sounding quite crazy, but I've read far too much Neil Gaiman to entirely dismiss the possibility that a fictional monster that becomes more real the more people think about it may not remain completely fictional with thousands of thoughts directed at it.)

Slenderman started on a forum in a "let's make this image creepy" thread with this
http://ufosearchonline.com/ufo/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/Slender-Man-3.jpg
and this
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/SlenderMan_2926.png
From there it has exploded into a combination meme/group fiction work with countless blogs, videos and Alternate Reality Games centered around the creeping otherworldly horror of the Slenderman figure, generally stalking the main character and causing all kinds of creepy happenings around them, and driving them mad.
Another aspect of the Slenderman mythology is the blurring of the line between fiction and reality. It's generally accepted in these stories that the slenderman is a concept known to the people involved specifically as a pure fabrication, but thinking about him and investigating him brings it and the things around it into one's life. It's mimetic, contagious nature corrupts everything it touches with madness and evil. Further it's frequently retroactively tied into older bogeyman tales for obvious reasons, lending credence(kinda) to the idea of it being a real thing.
The Most popular and well Known works are the
Youtube video Series Marble Hornets (http://www.youtube.com/user/MarbleHornets)
Centered around a young man who recovers his friend's old tapes from a failed Student Film and investigates why it failed and the strange happenings on said tapes and soon becomes embroiled in it himself
The Blog Just another fool (http://jafool.wordpress.com/)
Centering around a man who receives the Journal of a Friend who served in Iraq(or afghanistan, can't remember it's been a while)
and went mad after a tragedy on the battle field before committing suicide
The Youtube Video Series Everyman Hybrid (http://www.youtube.com/user/EverymanHYBRID)
About a group of friends who start a fitness series.
Personal recommendations
Seeking truth, (http://openthedoorandyouwillfindme.blogspot.com/) about a cop running an investigationon a series of murders
The youtube series Tribetwelve (http://www.youtube.com/user/TribeTwelve) about a friend investigating the suicide of his cousin(it starts off very marble hornets but quickly goes it's own way)
and
The Blog "The Tutorial" (http://getuphigh.blogspot.com/) about a young man who's been dodging the slenderman for a good while.

I've always thought they should just up and make a Slender Man movie.
I mean, a creature that literally hunts people based on how much they know about him?
All you gotta do is make sure you never really get a good look at him. Make him flit about in the shadows as people are killed horribly.
Then in the end, put out a short monologue summarizing what they find out about him ending in something like:
"...But if you've seen this... it's probably already too late for you. Run while you still can."
And then BOOM
Close-up face shot of slender man staring DIRECTLY INTO THE CAMERA.
Roll credits, collect Oscars.

Ehhh,"Boom in your face" scares aren't what make good Slenderfiction. It's about the subtle creeping horror and paranoia and the sense of realness(yes, including Balir Witch cam sometimes) what WOULD be nice would be a Slenderman movie with Real-d where something small and unsettling is always going on in your peripheral vision while what's on screen is pretty mundane and only somewhat disturbing.
Like on screen we're only ever seeing the after math of stuff, the people involved just trailing him. But there off to YOUR right(not the screen's) you can see him or maybe just vague shapes flitting away into the shadows.
Alternatively a secondary projector could be used to accomplish the same effect without being as blatant, just project shadows across the walls and into the audience so they don't expect it when they see it.

Don't forget character! Nowadays the focus is shifting from straight horror to character-based drama. I'm trying to do a mix of both but the judge is still out on whether I successfully did either.

I didn't mean a literal "boom". It would be much more effective if it was completely silent, actually.
The point is the psychological horror of "Oh shit, if he's real, that means he is going to murder every single goddamn one of us."

I think that it could be incredibly effective if they had him break the fourth wall, and just had the camera doing, whatever, during the monologue, bonus points if it's something where he absolutely doesn't belong, and when it says he's coming, just have him stare into the camera, off to the side.

This would probably be stupidly expensive to implement on a wide or even indie scale. However, if you extrapolate the internet-based success of Snakes On a Plan and Scott Pilgrim towards the turnout of a Slenderman movie, it would probably be more economical to just hire Slendermen-lookalikes to trail behind all three of the ticket buyers for a week.

Didn't Scott pilgrim have any hype from the comic? I don't know how well either film did, to be honest
I wasn't even factoring in costs at all, really. Just thinkin' bout stuff.
Slendermen-lookalikes
I really hope that's not a thing
Anyway, It might be cool to just make slenderman costumes and have employees at the theater stalk around it post-showing. They'd have to be good enough not to just stand in the middle of the street, but also not hide
