So, new Summer TV and some series are coming back, others are going out and new shows are coming up
let's talk about that...!
But i don't want to start talking about the new shows (afterall, we have just barely more than a name for those...) but let me start by pointing out the series that are gone
ABC
Brothers & Sisters
Detroit 1-8-7
My Generation
No Ordinary Family
Off the Map
The Gates
The Whole Truth
V
CBS
Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior
Medium
The Defenders
Fox
Chicago Code
Human Target
Lie to Me
The Good Guys
Lone Star
NBC
Chase
Law & Order: Los Angeles
Outlaw
The Event
Undercovers
The CW
Hellcats
Smallville
ABC Family
Huge
HBO
Big Love
TNT
The Closer - Ending after Season 7
So, Law and Order LA getting the boot kinds hurts i thought it was a fine show... maybe Cop/Law/Forensic saturation on TV? And Brothers and Sisters is actually a fun little drama now and again, too bad it's gone...

My only main complaints are The Closer (but that had a long run and will live on in reruns, awesome show), No Ordinary Family, Human Target, Medium.
Off The Map was okay and a couple others (L&O:LA, D187, Chicago Code, Lie to Me). Human and Lie show FOX has once again learned NOTHING from Firefly. I hope another network picks at least Human Target up. Chase was also alright to watch as was The Defenders. Not going to comment on Smallville. Same goes for Brothers and Sisters and a few others.
Now, that what needed to be gone? V and The Event for sure. Both sucked majorly. I hated Lost for the same reasons. Criminal Minds: SB was a <bleep>-poor spinoff with casting that sucked.
What's going to replace it next fall? Probably more freaking "Reality TV" and more toilet/stupid humor stuff. >_< And my mother wonders why I like anime?
On a side note, anyone know if Burn Notice is coming back for another season?

Burn Notice is indeed coming back. I mean they did a whole prequel movie and everything for it.
EDIT: In fact it's going to run for at least 2 more seasons. I was renewed for a 5th and 6th season. Season 5 will start on June 23rd.

House is coming back too, but without cuddy (not sure what to make of that) and Supernatural is also coming back for season 7, and amazingly season 6 manage to hold together after the Awesomeness of the previous 5 seasons...
And the Burn Notice TV movie, i'm not sure if it's actually related to Season 5, although, focusing on Sam would help to not saturate mike as much, Burn notice continues to be one of the most underrated TV shows out there. It deserved more praised.

Considering the season finale, it kinda makes sense that Cuddy would leave House. I realise it wasn't written with the absence in mind, but it does allow for her departure and for House to return to the hospital as soon as this police business is solved.
I'm surprised though that Supernatural got renewed. I watched the first half of that season and couldn't sit through it after having watched all five seasons prior avidly. It was just kinda boring, but then I'm guessing the CW couldn't afford to let Supernatural go and lose Smallville at the same time.
I didn't watch any of those cancelled shows, so it's all good.

Lie to me was actually pretty good. Everything else... well... yeah...
Supernatural did kinda meander a bit before they revealed the whole thing with Sam, and then it still meandered a bit after they resolved that. It's getting a bit more focused though.
They said that season 5 is going to have a whole thing revolving around elements set up in the Sam Axe movie.

About Supernatural, well, it's not absurd to imagine that the show would stumble a bit before going to a proper new path... i think they played around with 4-5 Storylines in a single season before finding one that "clicked". I don't see it going the full 10 seasons, but then again, that show doesn't need 10 seasons, it's already top grade awesome.
But season 6 to me was worthy just for that one episode where Dean and Sam cross over to "our" world. Absolutely priceless.

My fav was the alternate timeline where the Titanic never sank. I WANT TO F-ING LIVE IN THAT WORLD!!!!
Yes; I hate Celine Dion, that damn song, that damn movie, and everything about the ship being beaten to beyond death with a stick that much. So does my mother.
The interesting bit was the H.P. Lovecraft twist.

This is relevant. (http://www.hitfix.com/galleries/funeral-plans-for-2010-2011s-network-tv-freshman-casualties#1)
Really, the only new + cancelled show I even vaguely cared about was Lone Star, but that was mostly because of Adrianne Palicki. Plus, the showrunner's new show for the 2011 season (Awake) sounds so much better, and Wonder Woman didn't get picked up, so it looks like things might be ok for them.

You do know that aren't any censors in the forum, right? Piss-poor. Fuck-poor. Shit-Poor. Mi Krop-Poor. Go nuts next time.

Next fall's TV schedule for all four networks has been released for about a week. It's a lot of Crime Procedurals With a Twist, so nothing for you to worry about.
I don't see it going the full 10 seasons
When has 10 seasons ever been the 'full' norm? I think anything over four is usually considered a mold-breaking success, especially for shows that have stabs at narrative continuation.

Wait, all those shows are cancelled? Huh. And the Event actually looked like it was going to get vaguely interesting, even if the entire premise seemed flawed. I mean, if you can just move your whole planet, why did you need to depopulate Earth...? But still, if it were going to get interesting/good it would now be at this point...
I mean, don't get me wrong, The Event was pretty horrible, but now that I've wasted my time watching it I'd kind of like to see it continue. I feel that way about many bad shows they cancel. Like Legend of the Seeker, for example, I was kind of annoyed when it ended. Yes it was horrible, but I'd invested too much time into it. Luckily some other fantasy shows came on that are way better and more enjoyable...
Also, none of the shows that are coming on to replace the bad shows going off seem any better, might as well continue the established plot lines of the current bad shows.
EDIT: I don't know what I'm looking forward to this summer...is Terra Nova coming out this summer? Or is that a fall one? Looked like the only interesting new thing...isn't there an Alien TV show coming out on TNT by Steven Spielberg? That also sounded interesting, what's the name of that show?

Because all shows usually lose some percentage of viewers with successive seasons. If a show has shitty ratings and no critical support in its first season odds aren't good that it'll turn into a smash success for its second season, but everyone loves the unknown tripe (at least for a little bit) so you get more of your monies worth with season 1 of something new and only potentially shitty than with season 2 of something guaranteed shitty.
Really, the best such a show can hope for is something like Fringe or Chuck where it has shitty ratings but a dedicated audience that will watch it whenever you air it. Then the network can just give it a shitty timeslot and all thirteen viewers will stay at home to watch it on Friday or whenever (it's Friday). Of course, your show needs to actually be good enough to have dedicated fans and not just narrative rubberneckers.

Going to be honest, I was about to call you out because I thought Terra Nova and the TNT show were the same thing, but they're actually two completely distinct and probably shitty sci-fi shows, so I was fooled. Falling Skies (AKA "TNT Presents: Noah Wylie Fightin' Aliens"*) will be airing as a miniseries or something this summer, Terra Nova keeps getting put on the schedule and then delayed, and will potentially never be aired (apparently they keep trying to 'fix' the special effects, but everyone who's read the script or watched the rough cut says that the more fundamental problem is the show's stupid plot and characters, not that the dinosaurs might not looks as realistic as possible).
*From the people who brought you "Noah Wylie Fightin' Chinese Epics" and "Noah Wylie Fightin' Books" and "Noah Wylie Fightin' Books 2: It's Personal"

I thought dinosaurs automatically made everything at least palatable, though. I'm pretty sure that's the entire reason the creators had them go back to 65 million B.C. to create a colony instead of pretty much any ensuing time period where they would not have to contend with giant man-eating lizard-birds.

I forgot to say that today is the day that I pretend to be one of join the many desperate Firefly fans who have been clamouring for another series since 2003 even after already getting a movie. What more do we want!
... no but really I miss Firefly ...

At least Attorney General Eric Holder is demanding another season of The Wire. Or at least a movie. (http://newsfeed.time.com/2011/06/01/attorney-general-holder-demads-a-new-season-of-the-wire/) That's some bipartisan legislation I can get behind.

David Simon says it'll happen when Holder ends the War on Drugs, which is like the greatest trade imaginable in history.

Not cool to do cause I'm also a fan. >_>
Ah well, we got a movie and got to laugh in FOX's face for their stupidity.
