So, I picked up Ludo's new album "Prepare the Preparations" last night, and I've listened through it three times already. For those of you not familiar with Ludo, the closest group to them I can think of is My Chemical Romance. However, this is only in as much as they use lightly distorted guitars to back a male tenor voice. In terms of subject matter and musicality, Ludo tends to be a lot more... offbeat. One thing they do a lot is to have a sort of cognitive dissonance betweent the tone of their lyrics and their music. These are (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0XH3oMNKApI&feature=fvwrel) pretty (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCFue3mT1dE&feature=related) representative. I think what I like most about these guys is they actually demonstrate a command of quite a breadth of styles. In fact, the high points of the album for me were a bizarre piece about an undead attack that wouldn't sound out of place in a Tim Burton movie, (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3gao5Coer0) a legitimately sweet folksy sort of love song, (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YvHeYawq0N8&feature=related) and a song about a pirate raid that I could totally tango to. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdSKLoO6JZk&feature=related) In addition, their lyrics are consistently witty.
So anyway, I'm always a little saddened that I never see anyone talk about these guys, so I figured I'd talk them up a bit since I loved this album so much. :D

I just told my best friend. He totally freaked. Neither of us knew about a new album from them and we've just found an awesome way to spend the last few days of school. Thanx! :]

You just got the album now? ^_^ Been following these guys for a few years now and got the album last fall at a show they did in Downtown Minneapolis.
I am not ashamed to admit I want someone in this forum covered in Whipped Cream (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUw-V0GPvQU). (Gotta love the dance they do!)

I hate you because you made me think there was a new album.
Ludo's fantastic though. Just for Broken Bride. And everything else.
