I liked Liz better when she didn't have a mouth. :I

Man, and there I thought that Erin shooting Liz' cigarette startled her so much she grew a mouth to express the shock.

Well, just FYI: Erin wasn't actually trying to shoot Liz's cigarette. She was trying to shoot Liz in the face, it was just a spectacular miss.

Erin has obviously been doing trick shots in the circus so long that she makes the trick shot by accident when she's trying to kill. Force of habit really.

Erin was trained in the "3rd Birthday" school of shooting. (not really)

I presume Kit's moving into a flanking position.

I think Kit's a little worn out from having belched (and presumably farted) a Thundaga spell.
I'm hoping that Boozloaf is going to sneak up and put her in a chokehold. Beware the nice ones, and all that.

Ooh, Page 59 (http://www.nuklearpower.com/dreadful/)'s up!
I think the fairy-in-a-bottle gag went over my head. My best guess is that it's a Legend of Zelda reference, but I've never played a single game in the series.
I find Liz's expression in the final panel amusing.

Yup, it's a Zelda reference :)

Dwarf hunting.
I guess what confuses me is why Erin wasn't with Liz when she went out with Kit to kill Burke.

I guess what confuses me is why Erin wasn't with Liz when she went out with Kit to kill Burke. It was so Erin could kill Liz and Kit.
You wouldn't make a very good double-dealing villainous boss, you know? An excellent henchman, maybe, if "gets killed when his boss is done with him" is a qualification for good henching.

I guess what confuses me is why Erin wasn't with Liz when she went out with Kit to kill Burke.
Why would she be?
(the reason I'm asking instead of telling is 'cos I'm curious how you'll reason this out :) It might be useful for me to see if I actually need to explain this situation more in detail)
EDIT: Seems like phil is on the right track tho. This scheme is detailed out more later. It ties in to a much bigger picture, but I don't wanna exposition dump so I'm revealing bits of info as they're needed...and I'm trying to make it as non-confusing as possible. I'm also trying to make it so the information you're given is all you need to know at the time. It's hard to do though and I don't know if I succeed.

I just figured Liz (rightly) didn't really trust Erin, and so when Kit showed up, Liz decided to use Kit to do the job instead, ditch Erin, get paid, and avoid any trouble.
However, Erin followed Liz/Kit and, once Liz had the ring, decided to take care of her real job (kill Liz, assuming she survived Burke) as well as acquiring the ring.
I'm thinking Kit was simply an extra complication, as that I'm not sure how Jeanne would have known Kit was going to talk to Liz right then.

Yeah that's pretty much it :)
I worry sometimes that what is clear to me doesn't come across that way to readers. Plus I'm so keen on delaying information rather than exposition dumping that I have trouble remembering what I've delayed and what I've revealed... Sometimes I wish I could just throw it all out there, but that's not good writin' (so I've been told).
I'm bad about keeping notes, I usually lose them or forget I have them :P

I'll bite, what is 'Lech mich'? My german is very sparse and onine translaters aren't helping me. I assume contextually it amounts to 'lick me'?

I was assuming she was saying like, "Lake Michigan", with an accent.
Edit: Or in not-english.

I considered that, as it was one of the suggestions, but Liz's reply of 'I'll take that as a no *bam*' doesn't seem to jive with her giving an actual answer.

Seems like everyone knows already though.
Anyway, Erin is saying "lick me" which, I'm told, is a very offensive thing to say in German. Essentially "Fuck You".

I think it would be funny if they're actually staying by a lake named Mich. And Liz killed Erin for being helpful, and/or Jeanne did it on purpose in case Liz won and demanded to be told where they were.
Bard The 5th LW

They aren't anywhere near Lake Michigan (I think), so it could have been a sarcastic answer. But as Matt just answered, it was an insult. Defiant to the end there.

The problem is Erin was going up against Liz, and I felt if Liz didn't end it this way, it would be out of character. I mean, she killed Burke's entire gang pretty much "just because".
Michael Morris
09-26-2011, 02:12 PM
Yeah, Liz has the "heartless bitch" role down pretty cold. She's an interesting character so far, can't pin her down to one trope. Definitely some sort of Ice Queen (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/IceQueen) though, Baroness (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TheBaroness) maybe?

It is short for "Leck' mich am Arsch" which means "lick my ass" it's probably worth about the same as a fuck you, despite a more literal translation that would say just that. Considering the inflation and all.
Wenn I provided Matt with various cusses I didn't know I was picking Erin's dying words, just that they were words of defiance.
Why did she have to die? Now I can't translate her dialogue anymore. I suggest Erin's clan of deadly German assassins comes to take revenge or something.
Edit: I used the German word wenn instead of when, behold my supreme German-ness. Wenn doesn't mean when, though... wenn means if. But I mean when.

If she comes back it she wouldn't be the first person in history to come back from a bullet to the brainpan, especially in a fantasy universe. That said, I get the impression Liz is the type that checks for a pulse to make sure.
Or riddle the corpse with bullets to make doubly sure.

Nuking the body from orbit is the only way to be sure.
