So there's this website called Cracked. (http://www.cracked.com/) If you've been living under a rock for the past few years, it's an internet humor site filled with all the dick jokes and gay jokes that usually pop up, it also has well-written and researched articles which show their sources.

All of the stuff that I read are usually "The Top 5 Most Badass Presidents" or "The 5 Most Horrifying Bugs In The World" or something silly like that. Sometimes, they might even have an article about pirates, or historical battles or something - and like I said, they're usually well written and full of penis humor. But once in a while they do something that touches on... something.

Like their most recent article about suicides. (http://www.cracked.com/blog/8-tiny-things-that-stopped-suicides/) Not only did it reinforce my idea that the world is a half-decent place, as the article mentions several people who are beautiful, wonderful people helping others, but it touched me on a personal level.

A while back, I was in a dark place and was drinking like I was trying to pickle my liver. There were other factors that helped my through it, but a few kind words helped out a whole bunch. (http://nuklearforums.com/showthread.php?t=40142) So, yeah. (Thanks for that.) While a lot of the internet - including Cracked and NPF - is 99% dick jokes, it's always nice to find that other 1%. The idea that the world is a pretty wonderful place where wonderful things happen isn't a bad idea to hold onto.

EDIT Oh! Before I forget; it's not a dick joke, but the Cracked reference should hold up:

I'd say it's something more along the lines of 50% robot revolution stupidness, 30% dick jokes, 19% talking about how Australia is crazy and 1% actual content.

This is more along the lines of their usual posting.

Eeeh, they have a tendency to misrepresent information at least like, half the time. Don't get me wrong, they're entertaining, but I wouldn't trust the lines they feed you so quickly.

Anyway, I like After Hours. Also Seanbaby is awesome when he isn't recycling old stuff from his site.

I like Cracked, but one should always take their articles with a grain of salt.

Of course, everyone else recycle's Seanbaby's humour too, so he might as well get in on it.

I enjoy their articles on things like "5 Craziest Nazi Weapons" or what have you, since they bring up some interesting planes and weapons I never heard of. Like there was apparently this gigantic Russian flying fortress that was in development with like, 12 propellers and 16 guns or whatever but fell apart when they were flying it due to resonant frequencies, or how the U.S. Navy had two airships that could deploy parasite fighters back in the 1930s, or Nazi planes they started trying to make when they were losing the war that were made out of really cruddy materials like plywood that they were basically just going to use as human suicide missiles piloted by Hitler Youth. Stuff like that is really cool and gives me ideas for writing stuff.

Also Seanbaby now posts articles pretty much exclusively there and I've been a fan of his from way back when he started doing reviews of "Top 20 Worst NES Games" and so on and Electronic Gaming Monthly's "The Rest of the Crap", so...

Seanbaby's work is generally pretty great. I'm a bit jealous of his ability to sort of be dumb in an extremely clever way.

I also rather enjoy the work of John Cheese (http://www.cracked.com/blog/5-questions-you-need-to-ask-to-avoid-ruining-your-life/?wa_user1=2&wa_user2=Weird+World&wa_user3=blog&wa_user4=feature_module), who's managed to take a spectacularly nasty past and turn it into material that's both genuinely good advice and fucking hilarious.

Also, this (http://www.cracked.com/blog/dumb-things-white-people-secretly-suspect-about-other-races/?wa_user1=4&wa_user2=Extras&wa_user3=blog&wa_user4=moreon). This makes me giggle.

This meme is a poor man's dead horse.

Anyways, I liked the "Eight Little Things that Stopped Suicides" article recently. I also generally like John Cheese's stuff since he does a good job balancing typical internet humor with a surprisingly optimistic message. It's nice to see how he turned a really shitty set of circumstances around and tries to help others do the same.
