Well they are running a deal, get a graphics card and get Deus Ex, and since I need a new one (currently running an integrated one actually) I figured now would be a good time. However I ran into an issue. Not so sure I can install them.

I am running Windows XP, and this (http://www.google.com/products/catalog?hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=Z0h&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&q=BIOSTAR+TA785G3+HD&gs_upl=11557l12196l0l12554l3l3l0l0l0l0l936l1266l3-1.6-1l2l0&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&biw=1432&bih=753&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=5284371663529789897&sa=X&ei=oIFVTrm0JOjL0QHqxqDTAg&ved=0CDoQ8wIwAw) is my motherboard.

The graphics cards I am looking at require a PCI Express 2.1 x16 port and my ability to run directx 11.

Not sure if the ports I have work, or if XP is still supported by them.

Should it work?

PS currently no ports are being used, so room is a non-issue

You have version 2.0 PCIE ports on that motherboard so I would expect (if it works at all) that you would get some basic functionality but you'd lose any fancy bells and whistles. A look at the schematics/technical manual might tell us a bit more than just a listing of the specs but I doubt it'd be worth it to dig all that up.

Most cards can run on a slower slot, but it's worth confirming.
XP doesn't have DirectX beyond 9, anyway, though.

so what I'm hearing is, it will work, but not at full capacity.

so guessing that means its probably not worth getting

First you would need to upgrade your OS-easy feat its just nerver racking- to get max capacity. after that I would need the amount of power your Power-supply puts out. then your budget.

well how much of a drop is it if I dont upgrade the OS? I plan on it but I was going to wait until I get some more money. as for power supply, shouldn't be an issue, I dont really have anything else running off it and intentionally got a big one, 240 if I recall.

Budget, hard cap is 200, I normally spend 160 or less on a graphics card.

Oh and I pulled out the manual, expansion slots I have are
2x PCI slot
1x PCI Express Gen2 x16 slot
1x PCI Express Gen2 x1 slot

I also wanted to point out I was looking at those specific ones because of the deal they were offering that I could also get Deus Ex, which would effectively knock off 50 bucks and I'd like a nicer graphics card to run it. Stuff I have now, i cant run at higher settings but they do all run fine. No immediate need for them
