HNNNNNNNNGH I want to play WH40K Space Marine, but I don't get paid until the end of the week. ;_;

Anyone played it, or the demo? Thoughts?

I want it. ;____;

I've played the demo and I got to preview the multiplayer. I see a lot of comparisons to Gears of War but those comparisons are stupid and ugly and their mothers don't love them. Space Marine has jetpacks, no cover, has its melee as something you use against some semi-respectable numbers, lets you heal yourself by performing finishers on enemies, has more colorful visuals, etc.

Multiplayer breaks things up into three classes, which you'll have to forgive me for forgetting the names of. One has the jump pack and is melee focused with a light ranged weapon. Another is balanced between melee and ranged, and yet another is totally ranged focused. As you play you unlock different weapons and perks and stuff. It's fun. The multiplayer mode types are generic as hell, but the multiplayer itself feels unique enough that it doesn't matter.

I really can't wait to get a copy.

Yeah played the demo, can't wait to play it. Assault marines I can forsee as being quite overpowered in multiplayer though, you get so much speed and mobility that you're probably gona be slamming into other classes before they know what's happening.

i got the feeling that if i played the demo 5 times, it'd be the same as the full game. still might rent it

I just don't know if I'll be able to get my EMPRAH on proper without some Chaos heretics to purge.

You can purge Chaos heretics in the multiplayer!

I misread this game as Space Submarine.

I'm disappointed now.

How would that be functionally different than a normal space ship?

Also, I've decided to pick this up after class. Might have to wait to buy groceries this week. :I

I'm going to assume that typo is because of auto-correct on a cell phone. It had me going for a loop there, though.

ANYWAY, the major difference between a space ship and a space submarine would probably be that there's no marine to go sub on in space. :P (as in, no water to go under. Not... what I just thought of.)

YEAH.

If you had told me ten years ago that the strategy series that made an action game first was Warhammer 40k: Space Marine instead of Starcraft: Ghost, I would have said you were crazy.

If the combos are more deep in the full game than they were in the demo, then the game will probably be worth playing.

As it stands, the "command list" basically consists of flashy names for a different number of times that you press the right mouse button.

...But I can see ranged combat being kinda fun, and the Assault Marine section was utterly badass. If the whole game was just that then it would be worth buying too, it's just that they go and ruin it by making you take the jumppack off.

I'll probably get my hands on this when it goes on sale. I just don't see it being worth the whole $70, especially considering all the other games coming up that are on my "must buy" list.

I regret not getting this over Dead Island. Not to say that Dead Island is bad, because it is fuckin fun as hell........whenever it will be fixed. I'd at least be playing an equally fun game while waitin for the other instead of the other way around.

So

I bought space marine yesterday.

As it turns out, I left my 360 power cord back home, two hundred miles away. And I don't have fucking $40 for a new one (Fuck you, gamestop. You extorting bastards.)

Sadface is me.

I have the game! It is quite excellent. Currently part way through the campaign, running about with a power axe, plasma pistol, bolter, vengence launcher and the melta. I think the melta is my new favourite thing ever. Basically a 1 shot insta-kill flamethrower shotgun combo.

I should also be able to get the powersword somehow, from playing Killteam, but that may just be for multiplayer, which I haven't tried yet, seeing as I'm waiting on a friend of mine to get online so we can purge heretics together and shout various uplifting litanies to each other down the mike.

But yeah, it's fun. If you like 40K in any way, give it a go. If you don't, then the Inquisition wants a word with you...

Godamnit, it seems there's a problem with the multiplayer, at least on ps3. If you don't have your NAT type set up right it takes fucking ages to find a game. Bulletstorm had the same problem too, and I don't think they ever actually fixed it. So I can play, but only after waiting 30 minutes searching for games.

This has really quite pissed me off, I don't know why people can't make games with WORKING online modes all of a sudden. The only group I could join was a bunch of really high level guys who all had mikes and were nigh unbeatable for about 8 games. But, aside from the constant dieing, the multiplayer is pretty good. Assault is not as over powered as I feared, though the heavy bolter seems a bit crap. Storm bolter is excellent. Melta continues to own.

Nice feature they have; when you die, you can copy your killers loadout, which is really handy for new players to get access to some better weapons and perks straight away, for a while anyway. Now I just hope they fix this damn NAT problem so I can find a game where I can put up a decent fight instead of dieing all the time.

Oh god, why is it so boring?!

Just started playing it. Loving it. Great visuals. Dialogue just works on a basic level. Gameplay is fun and the limited ammo for the guns encourages using the melee that much more.

EDIT: Jump Pack + Hammer = I AM THOR GOD OF THUNDER

I find this game to be disappointing. Its quite a good game, but honestly the combat is too simplistic (and easy!) and gets boring quickly. Needs more variation. More weapons, more combos, I dunno. More changeup.

The jet pack is made of win, however. I got pretty pissed each time it was taken away.

Yeah, I'm watching a playthrough of this.

It's built like an action game, but they just throw waves and waves of orcs at you without much in regards to variance. The ammo is kept low, and the shield and life don't last enough to really satisfy the blood lust.

It's not bad, but there's better games for doing this type of stuff.
