Okay, I have a really simple problem for you guys. I am pretty useless with computers so don't bite my head off for asking a dumb question please? :P

I bought a brand new computer yesterday that came with Windows 7. I opened up windows live messenger 2011 and was promptly assaulted by a bunch of ugly ads and feeds to random social networking sites and other random stuff that I really don't need. I was using XP on my old computer and (I think) windows live messenger 2009 which was much nicer. So I thought I'd try installing WLM 2009 to no avail...

I uninstalled WLM 2011 i.e. went to the control panel, clicked on uninstall programs, selected windows live essentials and then specifically chose WLM 2011. But when I downloaded and installed WLM 2009 it said that I still had WLM installed when I don't. I tried this zap messenger program which was as useless as it sounds. I've looked around on google but I can't seem to find anything useful or specific to windows 7.

Anyone want to help me? :P

Edit: And I'd appreciate something other than "lolz just use trillian or pidgin or meebo." Unless the only choices truly are WLM 2011 or another non-msn program, but I used WLM 2009 on my old computer and I liked it and it seems a lot less shitty than what came with my comp and I don't see what's wrong with wanting to use msn, all the people I stay in touch with basically use only msn and I don't need anything else that logs me into AIM or yahoo or whatever. I know y'all are a bunch of geeks that like to be logged into different messengers but I truly actually like msn, just not shitty 2011 windows live messenger msn.

If all else fails, just use this:

http://www.pidgin.im/

Edit: SCREW YOU AND YOUR EDITS.

Pidgin is terrible anyway.

Try uninstalling the other Live Essentials things, then try installing WLM 2009 again, that should work.
