Basically the all-time best comic; contrary opinions: wrong.
Feel free to use this thread to discuss Calvin and Hobbes and the extent to which it owns (answer: the maximum possible extent)

I don''t know a lot about Calvin and Hobbes, but what I do know is that is spawned Calvinball. And Calvinball was awesome. Therefore Calvin and Hobbes must, by extension, be awesome.
I miss Calvinball on here, we should do that again sometime.

My grandma had a book full of calvin and hobbes strip, and I read through a bunch of them, and there were some gems here and there but on the whole I felt a bit disappointed. Didn't really live up to expectations.

I know this is all in good fun, and you were atempting a good ribbing, but that's... that's really harsh.

UGH
Taking offense for someone else at a bit of ribbing is the lamest thing.

Really?
Well, everyone's entitled to their own opinions. Even if those opinions are wrong.
I find that the vast majority of pages are fantastic, but the longer storylines tend to be the best. It's possible it was just a victim if hype for you, but as newspaper comics go, there isn't really a whole lot better than Calvin and Hobbes.
Like, objectively.

Now I'm reminded of what my awful mistake of not taking better care of my Calvin and Hobbes collections. I must've read those books cover-to-cover ten times each. They're trash, now, I think.
Hmm... the tenth anniversary book is only $12 on Amazon. That's the one with the commentary by Watterson under every strip and the foreword that made little phil_ start to consider the creator's role in the custody of his artwork.
Calvin and Hobbes wasn't a part of my childhood. Sadly I didn't discover it until adolescence.
However I will point out, as the guy who wrote the forward for one of the books stated:
This [book] is magic.
And magic is what Calvin and Hobbes was, is, and will continue to be for generations to come. I will personally be getting my hands on a few books or a collection, and raising my kids to know and love it as I did, late though I was in coming to it.

I like Calvin and Hobbes a lot, but Pearls Before Swine makes me laugh a lot, too. Better than Calvin and Hobbes? Nah, but it's still funny.

I've felt the same about me niece and Pooh Bear.
Winnie the Pooh is also an excellent source of childhood mirth and wholesome value.
But that isn't what this thread is about, silly Seil.
When was I ever on topic? When was I ever right?

I have all of the books and/or collections, I think.
I re-read them often when I visit my folks, as that's where I left them. I don't know why I haven't kept them with me.

Calvin & Hobbes (or Lassi & Leevi) owns. What else is there to say?
