No, Elminster is the wank fodder queen of the Realms by miles.

Alustriel is probably a wank fodder countess or some crap. She's one of the Seven Sisters (daughters of the goddess of magic, and all you need to know about Elmie is that he has banged everyone in that previous sentence), so there's some wank implicit in her.

...no idea about the cat thing, but if a writer put that in, I applaud his balls.

The Forgotten Realms is pretty much a generic D&D fantasyland. There's some more stuff, and there's a few pretty interesting elements, but most of it is generic as hell. Not really bad, though. Just kind of mediocre and rather bland overall.

I'd rather play Eberron (a magipunk post-WWI world complete with megacorps and dino-riding hobbits) at any rate. Someone should run an Eberron Mafia.

Anyway, one of FR's points, which is endlessly argued about the Internet, is that it has a bunch of high-level NPCs running around. We are apparently going to be playing as those NPCs. What a shock.
