View Full Version : Kate Beaton's Hark a Vagrant is a Time Book of The Year
So FOR THOSE WHO ARE DUMB AND DON'T KNOW BETTER, Kate Beaton writes comics sometimes about historical figures in which she details A) interesting and complex historical events and B) funny clothes. Look at Napoleon's pants. Look at them.
Now if this doesn't amuse you already shoot yourself because you are worthless. Even Time magazine, who are basically known for being That Serious Guy at parties who never shuts up about affect or post-modernist films or Death of the Author, thought "Damn yo, comics about ruffs be sweet." And in closing, I give you this to start of the discussion of how totally sweet Kate Beaton is.

Kate, I am here.
And I am looking so fabulous and also my pages opened?
Oh Mr. Time oooh.
Let's do it.
Yes.
And I will leave my Book of the Year list open.
Meanwhile, in a 20-mile radius of the event.
Pages ripping
Forum-goes turning gay.
It was amazing.

Possibly one of the most stunningly not-incorrect __________ of the Years that Time has ever seen fit to perpetrate.
Yeah this year was fairly good even if their video game list is half the top selling game list at the moment.

Yuss indeed it is good that Time has chosen this for inclusion upon their salutory list and so forth

You don't get how happy this makes me. I love Hark! A Vagrant to death. It is my favourite web comic, by far. It's so nice to actually see Canadian history 1) Acknowledged, and 2) Rendered so irreverently.
Here is Kate Beaton a month ago on CBC's Studio Q. Isn't she wonderful?

Really not a fan of that art. Dem faces.
I bought it yesterday for the present exchange that my family does every year. But my family is full of old Catholic women so really I just bought it for myself. But since Time likes it I can at least make it look like it wasn't 100% self-motivated.
If not for the fact that I also bought Axe Cop Munchkin to go with it, but whatever.

Axe... Cop... Munchkin?
You're talking about an Axe Cop expansion to the Munchkin card game?
I disbelieve. There's no way something that awesome exists.
And I own it. (http://www.worldofmunchkin.com/axecop/)
