Compared to movies of the day, it was pretty good. However, a good number of old farts can't be bothered to take their nostalgia glasses off to notice that it's far from the greatest series ever. Of course, I still have yet to sit down for a viewing of the 3rd flick, I just get bored & try to find something better on TV.

I still like the first film, but only just. 2 & 3 just can't hold my interest.

Since a few non-Smarty people are chimin in on the anti-BTTF side I may as well say in serious how much I don't get this standpoint. You basically have great shit piled on top of great shit in these movies; young Michael J Fox being cool as fuck, Christopher Lloyd being the hilarious mad scientist that Michael J Fox naturally knows due to being cool as fuck, Biff Tannen being one of the best petty villains in cinema ever, James Tolken being stern and authoritative and bald, and like that's all just the first movie!

Then you get to the second one and you've got all of that thrown into a blender, poured out and flipped turnways so you've got two Martys trying to not fade out of existence, the fucking awesome future with the awesome flying cars and the fucking hoverboard, like I don't know how anyone with joy in their heart can hate the movie that made up the hoverboard, bitter old Biff Tannen wiping himself out of existence so he can turn young Biff Tannen into an even bigger petty bully and getting up out of his hot tub full of hookers to throw Marty off a building and like... seriously?

Seriously, you're trying to tell me that the reason people love this movie is nostalgia? Man why stop there when you can just as easily go ahead and argue that nostalgia is the reason people love Fast Times at Ridgemont High or Enter the Dragon or Raging Bull or Terry Prattchet or hell, ice cream's been around a long time, why don't we just say that everyone who likes ice cream only likes ice cream because they had it when they were kids and they just won't admit that it's shit? The problem with your list of things hat hey are good about BttF is that you described like a 5 minute comedy skech. Their is no reason for it to be a whole movie and nothing sustains it for the whole movie. You watch like the first 10 minutes and you got all that the movie is going o give you.
There is no real plot, no real character development, no explored themes whats the point.
And the terrible hing is its a massive bait and switch. It advertises itself as a timetravel movie when its main section is just "man lets all just furavel ck the 50s up the bum". Timetravel has prety much no relevance to the plot, except as a conveinet setup start and end. BTTF 2 was a time travel movie, they use tiem travel as part of he plot but not 1.

Also I don't know how to quote but Arch, Wild Wild West was fucking amazing. tIdidn't rying fuck around trying to be all serious and halfass itws ridiculous premise (couch cough cowboys and aliens) and instead i t was like "We're going to make some kind of insane, action packed, steampunk wild west buhey did.ddy cop movie" and Its never slows down, the ridiculous keeps piling on and its got consant action, good visuals and ulysses s grant being a motherfucker and fighting a giant spier. giantI don' know what more you want.If yuo want a deep study of he relationship of man to his companions and to the world watch like he sacrifice.
