I watched that video on mute, cause the house is full of sleeping people. So to me that video looked like two people awkwardly waiting for the other guy to shut up.

I am more annoyed with that one psychologist who's never, ever wrong with his diagnosis. I get that him being right or wrong is insignificant with respect to getting in the police work and the lawyer work in one episode, but damnit. That smug asshole and his assessments annoy me all the time.

I acknowledge that this show always makes the defense lawyers look like hilariously evil and smug caricatures, so as to make the prosecutors look like the good guys in every situation.

But hating on Jack McCoy? Come on, now.

McCoy was my favorite prosecutor on Law and Order, part of it was probably because of the proximity to Lennie Briscoe.

Granted, I never watched the show after he left. So, I can't give you an accurate assessment of how much was just residual Briscoe awesome.

You have literally described McCoy, except that when McCoy is 'right' he is usually only right on legal technicalities and bringing the full force of the law down on someone who is firmly in the grey area as hard as he can, except the show never paints this as being him being unable to delineate shades of grey in the law, it just paints it as him being completely right forever all the time and then he does his smug ass grin while some kid who made one mistake is hauled off to jail for life because McCoy just wouldn't let it go no matter how many extenuating circumstances there are.

He is a sociopath who wields the law as his weapon.

Also: The Closer. Fuck that bitch on the Closer. I mention her because her and McCoy are the same character except one's a prosecutor with a dick and one's a cop with tits.

Edit: He doesn't even actually follow the law. He fucking goads witnesses into not testifying if they might impact the prosecution's case, he makes closing statements based entirely on emotion instead of fact, he withholds evidence. He's an asshole. Except the show NEVER actually addresses the fact that he's an asshole who breaks the law to get convictions in any meaningful way.

He'd be a villain in any other show but on Law and Order he's a hero.
