I think it's fairly risk-free to state that The Avengers seems like not only is going to make a ton of money, but it will also be a good movie.

I would imagine that this would prove that it is possible to make a continued production of Super Hero movies in the same movie universe (instead of individual ventures or Trilogy for the AAA list heroes)

So, it's not Farfetched that there might be a second shot at something like this...

Then, i look at the Upcoming super hero movies (focusing on Marvel)

Captain America 2 (2014) ... Production Company
Ant-Man (2014) ... Production Company
Deadpool (2014) ... Production Company
Thor 2 (2013) ... Production Company
Iron Man 3 (2013) ... Production Company
The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) ... Production Company
The Avengers (2012) ... Production Company

Now, also add this: The X-men movies didn't quite Click. But First Class was great. And it sets the cornerstone for future X-men movies... So marvel can essentially take First class, scrap the rest, and reboot forward beyond that point.

Only Hulk has no new movie annouced... yet. But Deadpool is in it, Ant-Man is in it, Spiderman follows up right after the Avengers, then, the 3 main heroes Thor, Iornman and Captain America have new movies locked on for release.

So, it makes me wonder if we could be in for a surprise following the credits of The Avengers, or even yet... Spider Man.

If i may Speculate a little further, There could be very well on the line a "Shield" movie for Black Widow, Hawkeye and Nick Fury that could very well serve to introduce Luke Cage.

As for a sequel itself, from wikipedia we have this

In October 2011, producer Kevin Feige hinted at a sequel to The Avengers during the New York Comic Con stating, "Iron Man 3 will be the first of what we sort of refer to as phase two of this saga that will culminate, God willing, in Avengers 2".[126] In March 2012, Joss Whedon stated that he would want a sequel to be "...smaller. More personal. More painful. By being the next thing that should happen to these characters, and not just a rehash of what seemed to work the first time. By having a theme that is completely fresh and organic to itself."

So there is a lot of options on the table actually, which is good... there are many roads they can lead in from this, and a little fan speculations doesn't really hurt.

Mostly, where you guys would wanna see this go?

Pretty stoked for Avengers. We're having a movie marathon day the week before and watching all of the origin movies related to it. Gonna be good times.

RE: X-Men films not "clicking" I don't even...
X-Men made like $300 million and X2 made like $450 million at the box office? Sure X3 sucked, agreed. The only thing it clicked was the trigger of the gun at my head.

Well, the box office of each movie validated the need for the next one, sure. But they didn't really go that well with Fans... nothing beyond average at least. While all the others were good or great.

Also, in their current state the X-men movie canon can't adapt to the Avenger's timeline. So it needs to be rebooted anyway. I'm not really sure you can 100% fit First Class in there... but i'm pretty sure they are going to try to add Deadpool into the modern continuity of the unniverse. Since this Deadpool movie (so far at least) seems to negate the one from the X-men Origins, everything seems to be going that way.

Well I thought X-Men and X2 were pretty rad, as a "fan." First Class was pretty decent too, though overly corny at times. I can't say it's hugely above the first franchise, despite my continuing crush on Michael Fassbender.

To be honest, between X1 and X2 the only bad thing i can remember to talk about is the Whole Phoenix plot that shouldn't be there, other than that, they were decent movies

This is what will make me forgive the recent subpar Marvel movies if it holds true.

Dissapointed there's still no news on a Hulk sequel. Why does the big guy get no love? He's like, one of the major Marvel heroes and yet what movies he does get are either sub-par or poorly recieved (though Incredible Hulk was still way better than First Avenger, sorry Cap).

Yay for Iron Man 3. I dunno, if that quote above about wanting an actual sequel instead of a rehash for Avengers 2 is true, I think we as Marvel fans are in for a fantastic era of movies.

He's had like, three different actors and some crazy mismeshings. I swear, it's like a curse in playing the Hulk. You'll only play it one time then you never want that role again...

You forgot The Wolverine.

I'm probably in the minority in feeling that First Class kind of sucked. I'd like to see the next X-Men movie have a tighter story, less characters, and maybe a slightly smaller amount of spectacle (or save it for the finale instead of the entire movie).
