Because Signal 30 through Lady Lazarus is maybe the best stretch of episodes the show has ever had, and even it wasn't c'mon really let's get talking about this shit already, I say it's time we had a MAD MEN SEASON FIIIIIVE THREAD.

They overplay the "golly gee the times they sure are a-changin'" a tad bit, but then again if this were written by like the Walking Dead people or some shit it would probably just be Don going THINGS DON'T STAY THE SAME AND THAT'S HARD several times per episode every episode. Which I guess is basically what they're doing, but at least they mix up the ways in which it's said and have Roger say it instead sometimes.

Literally the only thing I have to complain about is how little Joan we've been getting, because it hasn't been just wall to wall Joan.

But yeah, I can't think of a better single stretch of the series. If they had just written Betty out completely instead of shoving (whoah) Fat Betty (blamalam) into the proceedings it would have been a shoo-in for a perfect season. I was maybe mildly concerned about Megan last season, but the energy she's brought (and resulting futzing with Don's energy) with her have been great, and everyone else has really stepped up their game this season.

Yeah but that's only cause all the Joan's been so good.

I think I'm just going to be anxious until we get our promised Joan-centric spinoff where she moves to SCDP-Albany and conducts door-to-door market research, Capital Knockers.

Welp, guess all of my fantasies have to end with someone reading about me in the New York Times Sunday magazine now.
