This is in the media thread because, y'know... movie.

So... I saw the commercial for this movie released on Blu-ray and DvD. It's animated - the bit from the commercial looked kind of cartoonish. Like, anime cartoonish. That's just what I got from a minute long glimpse. It's called Dawn of the Seeker. Oh, and it's produced by Bioware and FUNimation.

All I thought when I saw this commercial was, "What? Why?" I mean, the story to these games never seemed to me like it was anything too remarkable. The banter between characters is great. The combat's... eh, it's okay, visually. Nothing flashy; the enemies are kind of generic. "Ooh, lots of dudes that look like bald humans and midgets. Don't forget the hulking gorilla guys!" Plot progression is meh. Go here, do a favor for these people; go there, do a favor for those people. Make everyone happy so they go get killed for you.

Don't get me wrong, I love the game. Few games can inspire me to play them through four times. And buy the DLC. But I realize there are plenty of faults, specifically with how bland the game's plot feels (to me at least).

So why make a movie of it? What would the movie even have that can make it a good movie? What are your thoughts? I'd be fine with a straight 90 minutes of witty Alistair/Leliana/Morrigan banter. Sadly, it doesn't have any of the original characters, unless Cassandra Pentaghast sounds familiar.

Also, it's already been released. Apparently, the date for that was May 29th. Did anyone else even knew this existed yet?

As i'm playing through Dragon Age Origins for the first time ever now, i can say that i do understand some of your criticism. A lot of it is right (also proper for the time, not for today) the Story is not fantastic... the storytelling is. The gameplay bits that tie everything together... well, it's a proper Rendition of Baldur's Gate in 3D. Sometimes better than Neverwinter Nights... on everything.

It's Wester Tasted Anime. Same they did for iron Man, wolverine and the X-Men and Halo and Batman Gotham's Knight, and Mass Effect... and i'm probably forgetting a few, and it's a "thing" since Animatrix. So i'm ok with it.

Also, as i play Origins it's kinda funny how the story is... similar, to Mass Effect, Specially 3.

All and all, it seems to be somewhat interesting, the facial expression is less "Uncanny Valleying" than the other short-movie-trailer for Origins
