We totally skipped the spring season.
This summer is full of sequels! Remember Moyashimon? That one with the agriculture school and a dude who could see microbes who looked like this:

Well, Moyashimon Returns starts July 5.
Also, Yuruyuri, Dog Days, that Horizon show you guys hate, Lagrange is back after a season off, as well as continuations of Space Bros, Sainto Koga, and other stuff I guess. Is Sankarea going for more than twelve episodes? The anime has just finished the introduction, but if it goes much further we'll have main characters who aren't in the theme song...
New stuff that I'm interested in:
Jinrui wa Suitaishimashita (Humanity has Declined): It's about a human ambassador to the fairies who have inherited the Earth after our decline. The first promo opens with talking dead chickens. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULadqF0-uKw) So, whimsy and weirdness seem to be in order with a pastel color pallet. Maybe I'll be completely wrong about what this show ends up being like I was with Moretsu Pirates, but that turned out ok, anyway.
Uta Koi: It's, like, a period piece loosely based off the Hyakunin Isshu, a.k.a. those poem cards from Cards and Crying (oh, and Chihayafuru has a second season announced, just don't know when). Maybe I just want to watch cartoon people in kimono, but I'm gonna give it a shot.
Blood Lad: A vampire obsessed with Japanese nerd culture (an otaku, if you like) falls in love with a human who dies, and he attempts to resurrect her from a ghost. I figure if writing synopses like that are part of why I watch anime, I may as well watch the shows that let me write them.
As for stuff that's done or finishing or whatever the spring stuff we skipped, Fate/Zero had a sad, sad ending for everyone but Waver and maybe Kiritsugu is you ignore the whole losing his daughter forever thing. Sankarea is still full of male gaze just like the comic, but I like Furuya enough to enjoy it anyway. Korra isn't anime. Sakamichi has nice music and painful highschool romance, plus I was made aware of a seventies student protest movement mirroring the student protest movement in the States. Learning!
And Smile Precure is still the best time of the week. Only three more weeks until Clown Satan is revived. I shouldn't be excited about that; it's a bad thing!
What cartoons are you people excited about?
