More links!
http://amaranthdatanet.wikispaces.com/ - The New Wiki. I'll be erasing the old one soon, so make sure you have it bookmarked.
http://edupad.ch/utWD6aU2Aq - Edupad that you should look at frequently.

Here's some information for you guys! Most of its on the Pad, but there's a couple things I've added to this - I don't believe any are vital, but if you haven't read the pad's list yet, do this one first.

Information about the Festival:
The Hallows Eve Festival is more of a massive Carnival than a Festival. There are rides, food booths, carnival games, a concert, movies - etc. The long and short of it is, the Amaranth Festival is very extensive. PCs in the Festival will be in charge of setting their own scenes, so that's a good thing for you. Basically any vaguely Carnival related activity will be permitted. However, you still need to either put your prospective scene up on the pad, or PM it to me, before you post for my approval.

If you intend to have NPCs in your scenes, named or otherwise, be very conservative with the actions you dictate them taking. I'm more concerned about players making NPCs act inappropriately/unrealistically than I am about how they select the setting. However, as long as I approve the presence and/or actions taken by the NPCs in your scenes, it'll be fine. If you'd like another PC in your scene, make sure you coordinate on the pad or over PM with them.

The Festival has been going on for a few hours, when the game opens. This, in itself, is worthy of consideration. However, for PCs in the Tournament (which is all of you except Cassie 'cus she's a wuss) it means that, chances are, you've gotten into a few fights already. As far as the game is concerned, you're all still in the Tournament, so that means you've either been avoiding fights or winning them. If you can give me some indication, either via PM or some kind of note in your post itself, as to how your character has been treating the tournament, it would be appreciated.

Tournament Information:
Tournament Participants have been issued Tournament Bangles. The Bangles are large bracelets of brightly hued cloth (the colour of your bangle will match your aura at the start of the Festival), wrapped around a glowing plastic screen. The screen displays a pair of bars - HP and WP. The (Will Points) is an accurate measurement of your character's current Will, and is displayed in Green. HP (Health Points) is displayed in red, and is slightly more complex. During Duels, Students are surrounded by invisibile magical armor, which prevents them from taking damage. However, any direct contact with that armour reduces their HP score, as if they'd been wounded.

The wounds also transfer psychically to the student, to simulate damage. To win a Duel, you must either reduce a target's HP (or WP) to zero. HP restores automatically at the end of a Duel. WP regens at the normal rate.

You may also forfeit a duel at any time - unless you're in Q-11 (see the Landry Bangles).

The bangles turn tournament participants into ghosts during their duels. They, and all their spells or weapons, will pass through non-tournament participants as if they aren't there. It's all CGI! This is a safety feature. Outside of duel time, you're solid - and so are your spells. If you attack someone outside a duel, they will get hurt, and the Masquerade may take note.

Tournament Bangles also enable those who carry the bangles to attack Ghosts - which, incidentially, are worth points in the tournament. Points are displayed on the bangles as well. Each duel you win awards points relative to your defeated opponent's rank in the tournament (First Years and Ghosts award the least, Third Years and Super Ghosts award the most) - the goal is to get as many of these as possible. For reference, the defending champion is - you guessed it! - Hannah Irumi. If you can defeat her (or better yet, eliminate her) you'll receive a massive amount of points.

Q-11 Students are equipped with/have Landry Bangles locked on their arms. These are, according to Professor Landry, a vast improvement over the standard school issued model. You see, they prevent you from forfeiting, and automatically accept any challenge posed to the wearer. Also, they have pretty black-lace trim - unless the wearer is a Black (read: Diana and Adeline), in which case they have custom lace colours (Dark Red and Bright Yellow, respectively). Apparently, Professor Landry didn't get the memo about Blacks not being allowed in the tournament.

Landry Bangles also feature small buttons, which summon copies of the weapon the student is most familiar with. These are summon spells which consume Will, but only function during Duel Time. Non-Q-11 Students will need to bring their own weapons to the tournament (your normal bangles work on these too). I'll PM you a list of what summon-spells your bangles have, if any.

Eliminating someone from the tournament is done by wagering all of your points on a single duel - or just losing duels with a high frequency. The school broadcasts a lot of the tournament footage onto the Amaranth website as it happens, so chances are, they're also monitoring you to make sure you're not embarassing yourself too much.

Duels may also be set up to include more than two participants, tag-team style matches or may be joined while already in progress (which the consent of the participants).

Also just because:
Ghost Blossoms are the glowing flowers referenced in my post. They're flowering plants unique to the Ansidor area - each year, they appear on Halloween, and begin to glow at night. By the morning, they're gone.

Anyway! For the people in the Festival, please enjoy the Festival.

For the people in the Forest!
The ritual begins in seven minutes. To begin the ritual, Sao needs to reach the center of the lake and undo the seal there (small investment of Will). It will take a short period of time for the ritual to gather the necessary power (between 30 seconds and two minutes). Should any one other than Sao and Diana be within the boundries of the lake during this period, the ritual might be disrupted by outside influences - this is bad.

Once the ritual begins, a pillar of solid white light will erupt from the lake. This is the boundry of Diana's mind, manifested physically. If Sao has time, she will erect physical barriers around it (each takes an investment of Will and thirty seconds to activate). If she doesn't, she won't.

If the Field's Boundry is disrupted, Diana's mind will shatter and Sao will die.

Boys! Your job is to keep the boundry in-tact.

Good luck.

Are there any questions?

Edit: Oh, and if two players are talking to, or fighting with, one another, don't go too crazy. One posts per-turn, unless I give you permission to continue.

Edit2: You're all in costume! Describe them!

My only regret about having Naomi in a KOS-MOS costume is that she doesn't use guns (I think Endless Frontier was the only time that character took to melee attacks, where normally she's GUNS GUNS AND MORE GUNS).

I'm also glad to not be bound to Landry's slave bracelet bangle.

I'm also glad to not be bound to Landry's slave bracelet bangle.

All of her primary attacks were melee, the specials were GUNS GUNS GUNS. Only qualm I had with the third game was that boss fights took forever.

Anyway, I'm waiting on Rhiya to see if she wants to collaborate or something. Else Nasir really isn't going to be doing much of anything exciting besides wandering around. Ghosts only provide so much entertainment to smack around.

And yeah, not subject to the bracelets either.

So Nasir isn't participating in the tournament?

Chances are Emme would've gained some points from hitting a ghost, then gone around looking for fun foods she can introduce Nasir to. Post is pending soonish.

Well, that works too, I suppose. I mean, if you wanna edit your post on the pad to include him... since she's the only one who can actually understand him when he doesn't want to be understood, go right ahead. As for the tournament, he'd probably take part if only to train against live opponents.

So, some trivia to know: To Nasir and the Tribe, Iran is still Persia. That and Old Arabia is still a thing, where they continue to stay away from even the places where the towns and capital once stood. Their big path not only leads through the Middle East, but partially Egypt as well. It helps to stay away from 'civilized society' when you have a lot of ground to cover while you travel and their routes change every year. Considering how the world has changed since the 'Great Purge', it's almost impossible to avoid wandering through at least some towns or cities along the way. However, if they're forced to be near civilization, it will be outside the 'limits'.

Children and young adults are forbidden to speak with or accept gifts such as food or drink from 'city-dwellers'. Any interaction with such people is usually carried out by the priests.

Not exactly info people NEEDED to know, I just needed to confirm with myself in plain text how the tribe works so I have something to look back at later.

Just posting to say that, unless someone PMs me to request more time, I'll be starting my reply to the existing posts tomorrow, following my 'one-week per turn' rule.

May not finish my post tomorrow, but that's beside the point. You have until my post goes up to act this round.

Edit: Ahahahahahahahahahahahahahah - "One-week per turn rule."

I was so naïve.

Hey folks, I'm having problems with all Edupads on my primary machine, which is my lappy.

If you really need to contact me you all should have various ways of doing so. I'll watch the pads in forced silence until this is resolved.

Putting this in the Announcement thread to make sure everyone sees this:

After a lot of thought, I have come to the inescapable conclusion that I can't keep running Landry in a Play-by-Post style over the forums. The time it takes me to create these responses isn't managable any more - I really don't enjoy spending hours on end working on these seven-page replies, and if I don't change the format somehow, the game'll end here.

Therefore, since I really do want to finish this arc, I'll be going back to doing it over the pad. I do promise to get the Timeskip-scenes posted on the Wiki before continuing the game, since I know the lack of records was a concern before. Beyond that, it ought to be the same as before.

If any of you have an issue with this change, feel free to offer alternatives.
