Though I guess if you give much thought to much of the nightmare fuel in this series its not that surprising

On something unrelated, did anyone else notice the five senses motif? Though nothing seemed to really say smell or sound to me

Fin's wish to earse the Linch not only saved the world, but doomed it at the sametime by creating a bad future middle earth, and the biggest shocker of all. Fin becoming the new Ice King and starting a Nuklear armageddon. And Jake some how becomes the new Linch King!

All of this only gets negated because the Real Jake back at the Center of Time, wished for the Linch King's wish to be changed from "the extniction of all life" to "I wish for Fin and Jake to go home". Which pretty much results in everything going back to normal.

We learned so much about the setting and so much subtlety. I dont even know where to start. Origin of all the beings we see, the origin of the mushroom war, marceline's nature, design of their multiverse, ect

Storyboards for a cancelled scene have been going around, revealing that Finn's father is trapped within a realm opened by the book as well; he was once the greatest warrior of Ooo, and was forced in there by Billy, apparently.

Finn's biological father. However, most of the people involved with the show have said, when asked, that if it didn't get into an episode, you shouldn't consider it to be canon. At least not yet.
