Hey Canada so I guess you make shows that are just about as awful as the ones the US makes and now Netflix is showing them to me in my house!
Seriously someone explain this shit to me why is this program showing me entitled teenage douche bags also weird amounts of cleavage. And racism. And a prolonged scene of a teenage girl having diarrhea on her boyfriend's toilet. And I'm guessing at some point statutory rape. What the actual fuck?

I never minded the show. Wasn't the best ever but was a good time killer. Something to throw on in the days before web series (or to be more exact before I found alot of web series)

No I guess I can see a kid enjoying this show but I can only imagine the colossal ass that kid would be if they like, actually internalized anything from this thing. And it's a big hit over here on bad movie night, so, there's that.

The title should already have turned you away. This is why you shouldn't watch Numb3rs or Se7en either.

Detentionaire is the best Canadian Teen show ever. Why? Well it gots:
- a Cyborg drill sergant principle
- guys in hazmat suits as janitors
- a lesser known cryptid as a major reoccuring character
- cool asian protagonist who is only nerdy is useful ways
- a main character's love interest who's pretty independant, smart and cool. Plus No one has any clevage showing, not even the Alpha bitches
- A tech savy Bully who is surprisingly friendly and helpful and loves kittens
- An ever growing conspiracy plotline
- long necks that vampires would absolutely love
Youtube used to have the whole first season, its a really cool show.
And also, Nique, you should've known Canada is capable of producing equally crappy shows from the Total Drama series (which I have an unfortunate weakness for)

My favorite episode of 6Teen was actually an episode of Total Drama Island.
And I don't even really like TDI that much, either. Or Survivor, for that matter.

Well Total Drama Island is a cartoon, right? I think we can all agree that cartoons, even bad ones, are automatically better than any reality television show.

Ugh. Johnny Test.
It's like that show was born in the wrong decade. It feels like a 90's cartoon in all the worst ways, possessing none of the good things about 90's cartoons.

Yeah. Well, it's a cartoon using Survivor's premise, which is why I mentioned the latter. But it's basically a constant parody of the premise, so I guess it works out to something positive.

Reality tv has better writing than about 95% of the shows on air at the moment. Don't mock it.

Smarty watches Big Brother and Big Brother Extra and probably also watches that 24/7 webcam of "the house". Don't trust his opinions.

Now there's a backhanded compliment if I ever heard one.
Not to give the wrong impression, though. I do watch some reality shows with my family. Mostly the cooking-based ones. Though, I kinda prefer ones like Chopped or Iron Chef, which are mostly just the competition.

How boring does your life have to be when you watch other people's daily life as entertainment.

It actually wasn't until today that I recalled that this was a cartoon and not some reality show you were talking about here.
From what I have seen of this show, as I have seen a few episodes here and there, I just assumed that, being a cartoon, they wrote for "teen stereotypes" for each character and have just let that fly. Is it really that bad?

The entertaining ones are the ones that are some sort of competition, so it's not just "daily life" stuff. Survivor or Top Chef, for example.
Though, I kind of prefer the shows that are just the competition. Like Chopped or Iron Chef.

I was worried that after your strong showing 2012 you wouldn't be able to back it up with a repeat yin 2013 but you have come out of the gates strong and are showing why you are a title contender once again. Congratulations.

those I can understand, I mean I still find them as dull as rice pudding but can see how someone might find watching some one cook food as entertaining. Plus Iron Chef is over the top and more about pushing culinary abilities so I can respect that.

Well, here's the more-or-less full story: We were checking out a few things in the Netflix instant library for a laugh and came across a show called Horseland (which interestingly predates the new MLP show) and although that show starts off pretty bad with lots of ethnic stereotyping, talking animals, and oh yeah an opening episode where a rich white person is oppressed by minorities, the show kind of looses steam after a few episodes and passes from entertainingly terrible to boring and mediocre pretty quickly.
But because we watched that, Netflix recommended 6Teen, which not only employs annoying teenage character tropes, but scripts that begin telling stories that should end with a moral lesson but never do, effectively creating main characters that are straight up shitty people. And I mean this show features at least one scene of a baked-out-of-his-mind sixteen year old masturbating into a massage chair in public, so, yeah it's pretty bad.
Like, don't get me wrong if you don't pay attention it just seems like 'oh ok a show aimed at kids with hamfisted/ well meaning morals etc etc' but even a slight inspection reveals a really awesomely awful show that is really problematic.

I distinctly do not recall this scene from the few episodes of the show I have watched.
I think I watched all the wrong episodes.

And maybe I'm reading too much into this scene, but based on the earlier scene and the reaction of the other characters, I don't think I am (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PyVltr0Li6o&t=7m0s)
