So long, Gipper.

Well, he gave us sky-high deficits and Supply-Side economics and negotiated with terrorists -- but compelled as I feel to mention them, now is not the time to dwell on such things.

I'll give him his due, he was a charming old bastard. Had a sense of humor you don't tend to get in politicians nowadays (really, that book of his letters that's out now, witty like anything, a thoroughly enjoyable read).

Even the ideas of his that didn't work, well, they were proper ideas that he thought about and came up with and honestly tried to make work and thought would make life better for Americans. The guy believed in something is what I'm trying to say. Again... something you don't tend to get in your modern political leader.

And you know, one more thing I must say... right or wrong, for better or bad or best or worse, whatever else you can say about the man...

He had style.

He was the last president with big brass ones.

I may not have lived in his reign. I'll reserve judgement because the man deserves my respect. That much I can give. RIP Reagan...
