What the--do my eyes deceive me? Do my ears lie to me?
Did I actually see a genuinely good comic book movie this year? One I can recommend without reservations about "bloat" and "emphasis on spectacle" and "angsty grimdarkness" and "illogical plotting"?
I honestly did not expect this! Easily the best superhero movie this year (for what that is worth), and actually an okay movie all in all!
Maybe I'll be experiencing some fridge logic soon, but right now I'm actually digging this feeling.
EDIT: Stay for the credits sting or you'll be sorry!

Im kind of glad they stopped pretending all the X-Men stuff wasn't basically about Wolverine anyways.

I just spent all* of yesterday morning reading reviews about how bad it was and that it was marginally better than X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which to me is like saying "hey it was marginally better than that week I had swine influenza." So now I'm just confused. It's good? It's bad? Do I really have to get up out of this chair and risk sunlight to see it?
*okay, 20 minutes or so

I have no clue who watched this movie and came to that conclusion. I'm sure one could draw some similarities to Origins (they both have, uh, Wolverine in them!), but I liked this movie WAY more. That movie was actively bad at many points.
I'm sure your mileage may vary but right now it has a 68% on the ol' Tomatometer as far as reviews go.
There are points where it got slightly hokey at times but again, I'm comparing it to Iron Man 3 and Man of Steel. Maybe if this was going up against The Dark Knight it wouldn't fare as well, obviously.

It was better than Origins. By far. It was about as good as First-Class.

You need something of an actual value to compare against the movie this thread is about. This sentence is invalid.

I'm probably not going to watch the movie any time soon, but I find myself curious about this part in particular. Care to spoiler for me?

Magneto and Xavier (that is Sir Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart) make an appearance in order to set up Days of Future Past.

I would argue it was better than Man of Steel even or, at the very least, more enjoyable.

See now, when your stinger is far more interesting than the entire movie that preceeded it, something has gone wrong.

I could make a 6 second video of myself farting on grizzly bear and reasonably argue that it was both superior to Man of Steel and far cheaper.

I wouldn't say that. Movie was great in my opinion. The stinger was just a nice cherry on top.
