Very glad to finally gotten Kit and Charsi together. I have no idea why it took me this long outside of the fact I'm a mediocre writer.
Like, these two have been a duo ever since I came up with them years ago in some long forgotten fantasy story I was writing. Kit was the sassy, loveable rogue, Charsi was the straight-laced, good natured fighter.
I told myself I was putting them together no matter how forced it came across.
Charsi appeared once before in a previous chapter, when she was talking to Boozloaf.
Also I really like drawing skeleton warriors.

Oh, nonsequiters.
You make for wonderful actioncomedy.

It's a perfect segue!..maybe?
Shitty demon summoners tried summoning a demon to kill Charsi and Kit "got in the way".
Devil summoning isn't an exact science! :D

I do know.
But the question is:
Do you?

I'm pretty sure we all saw this coming. I mean, how could we not? The signs were all there. The signs. :aaa:
Well, except for that Charsi woman. Didn't even remember her. And according to the signs I saw, Kit would be summoned by eerie chipmunks that form humanoid shapes dressed in the rags of the damned. :ohdear:
Reform humanoid shape for round two!

Summoning sure isn't an exact science. That's what makes it fun! Like psychology, or pyrotechnics.
MSperoni

Or pokeymans.
Spinell
10-03-2013, 03:31 AM
So does that happen regularly that Devikin instead of devils are summoned?
Or is it because Kit is more demonic than usual (as a "gift" from her father maybe)?
No i don't think this will be answered just yet. :3:
MSperoni
10-03-2013, 12:43 PM
Kit has a lot more demonic power in her than the standard devikin due to her mysterious lineage. So even though the cultists failed to summon the demon they wanted, they did technically succeed in summoning a powerful demon.
Poe was sorta short-changed in the super-powers department and aside from being extra smart and pretty, is basically a normal devikin.

Thanks for the answer. :)

Or pokeymans.
You'd be surprised at how exacting the competitive guys get about it.

I'm having a lot of trouble with The Dreadful's script, and Brian is in NYCC for the weekend, so there may not be an update this week.
If there's not an update this week, there may be two updates next week to make up for it (depending on how things go).

I got unstuck on my script so I told Brian to go ahead and post the page!! Yaaaay!
KIT AND CHARSI TAKE IT TO THE HOUSE!!!!!! (or at least Kit does)

Kit has taken a double-barreled shotgun blast to the gut so she'd be pretty deadly with advanced martial arts skills.

Wow that was more violent than usual. I wonder how doomed that town is if it needs human sacrifices in a cave to save it. Kind of a "If this is the cure, it must be some sickness" thing.

Well, Launie the Halfling Devil Summoner is a bit of a psychopath.
But there's stuff revealed in the next update! Stuff that might help shed light on what motivates this deranged psychopath to sacrifice virgins and threaten Charsi with unimaginable indignities!
(Graingrove is also the town where Umami wants to meet up with Sabueso.)

The full-gut stab probably would drain him pretty quick, but not quick enough to stop a scream and some running around. The central head cut actually wouldn't damage anything important if it was really where it was shown. I say it was a few "lucky" saving throws.
Either that or he just forgot to record the damage. That sort of thing happens around here.

The demon is clearly only half full.

The demon is clearly only half full.
But the little people are very filling! What with breakfast, second breakfast, morning tea, elevenses and so on.

Now that the demon is finished with the appetizer, it's onto the main course!
That is to say the lovely young warriors. The Valiant Virgins. The Marauding Maidens. The Battling Babes. Kit and Charsi!

Launie certainly was consequent, sacrificing herself. You will be missed little psycho. :crying:

She is the Boba Fett of The Dreadful. Fan favorite, only around for a short time, eaten by a big fat monster.
Though at least in Launie's case she was killed legit. By her own hand (sort of).
Fett was hit in the butt with a stick wielded by a blind dude.

She is the Boba Fett of The Dreadful. So, the sequel to The Dreadful will be about fighting an army of hobbits?

So she's going to have turned out to have done a thing with a conveniently hand held device to get out of that predicament (that is, dying), and then have more books written about her?
MSperoni
10-18-2013, 03:42 PM
Yes.
In The Dreadful's EU it'll say that she had a Life 3 spell cast on her prior to being eaten so she'll magically resurrect later on.

"How short-sided!!"
Did you mean "short-sighted"?
And I could only read "sinister" and "necro" in that demon-summoning chant. I guess that's enough though. Great update! :)

Yeah, I meant short-sighted. I sent an updated version to Brian but I don't know if it's been posted yet. Or, if it has, whether the site will allow it to display.

But they served a useful purpose! The plot couldn't have gone this direction if they hadn't nobly given their lives to bring Kit into the cave.
P.S. Isn't there a spider demon thingy running around somewhere? And a sniper with an insanity-producing invincibility ring? We ever gonna see those two again? (Not that I want to distract from seeing the mini-horse get traded for... something?!?)

10-22-2013, 12:04 PM

References based on TV shows or...characters from TV shows (?) are the least obvious reference to me. :P
If it's not from Boardwalk Empire, Eastbound and Down, Bizarre Foods, Justified, or baseball (assuming baseball counts as a "show") it's gonna go completely over my head.
Though I used to watch South Park and Simpsons a lot, but that was years ago!
Helldemon
10-27-2013, 03:16 AM
It wasn't a reference to that TV show I believe. I think they were just using it to point out what the hammer was.

'That special time' was my third guess. But I removed it before posting, because I figured it would really only apply if the hammer was at the scene and about to be deployed. Not when it's just mentioned as existing somewhere in the world.

Sorry for the lack of an update this week, folks. I had a Halloween Special planned for today, but it went through a few major changes and now it's a full blown chapter. It fits into the story canonically and dramatically really well, and calling it a "Special" doesn't seem to do it enough justice.
I'm hoping to get this first bit of Chapter 12 (formerly known as the Halloween Special 2013) posted tomorrow. If not then I may put it off till next week.
