Well the only video game that gave me nightmares was Silent Hill. Worst fear, being covered head to toe with insects or spiders. Scariest movie, Event Horizen, as my friend aptly said, "The next time someone tells me that there is a spaceship that runs on pure evil, I'm gonna believe 'em!"

I'm not really a fan of horror movies, aside from the delightfully lame 1950's-1960's era variety which are more fun to make jokes about.
However, in terms of actual scary movies, I'm quite partial to the original The Haunting from the 1960's. (Not the lame-ass 90's version). It still manages to be creepy after all these years, largely because there is no "monster" or visible ghost. It's mostly psychological horror. It's also the only movie that makes wallpaper terrifying.

Pyros likes The Haunting too, both versions, though I like the first one more like Mauve.
I don't like Stupid Horror movies, where we are expected to shut off our brains for the sake of suspense and drama, or pointless everyone dies movies like say, "Drag me to Hell" or Saw, or the Grudge.
I loved "What Lies Beneath" in terms of terror, as it has a shocking twist that is far more horrifying than a ghost, and for a hydrophobe, the worst possible way to die.
I like movies that have the heroes survive and learn something, and sometimes I just prefer adventure movies with horror elements, like The Mummy.
I did actually kinda like Insidious, as it actually told a story and had likeable characters.

All the horror movies I've seen recently sucked shit. People in the theater (myself included) straight up laughed during The Conjuring. The Possession was even worse, being sort of gross at a few points, but never scary in any way. It wasn't even sorta funny like The Conjuring was.

I'll be watching Trick'R'Treat, as always. Cabin in the woods was decent and would make its way into my rotation if it didn't rely on you not knowing what its about. John Dies at the End will be taking the horror comedy slot instead of Tucker and Dale Vs. Evil.
And for this years classic, we're going with Hellraiser
