So, i just watched this yesterday and i thought i would see a thread for it around here, but no such luck apparently.

I'll avoid doing the OP with spoilers, so i just wanted to get this thing open for thsoe who have seen it.

And i really did enjoy it. Second half is better than Thor 1, first half is not. Loki is awesome. End credit scene is setting up something really really cool. So there you have it.

I have yet to see it. Was going to go on saturday with a friend, but my local cinema has shut down, and everywhere else is only showing 3d versions. We do not do 3d.

There are some times certain places are doing 2d, but only like, once a day or late at night or something stupid like that. Most annoying.

It's not out in America until Friday, I forgot they care more about foreign markets now.

I'm looking forward to it. Outside of Iron Man 1 and The Avengers, I honestly think Thor is the third best of the Marvel movies thus far, which is quite surprising because when it first came out I only went to see it because it was tied into the other movies--I didn't really know what to expect. It ended up being quite enjoyable, and perhaps this is heresy but it certainly holds together better than Captain America.

Just a quick heads up then

The first Extra scene matters. It's early in the credits. The second one does not, it's just a Bonus.

And if you liked Loki this one is going to make you adore the character. He nearly steals the show. Also, there is a lot of humour in this one (a bit more than the first one) and one of the best segways i've ever seen from a REALLY serious moment to a burst out laughing momment in the end of act 2.

The villain, however, and the plot device, are pointless... much like in Captain America. This is a hero-driven narrative.

Also, really smart cameo, you can't miss it. But well done!

Is the plot device the Cask of Ancient Winters?

Is the plot device the Cask of Ancient Winters?

Nop.

I don't want to spoil it until you guys get to see it for yourselves, but the movie will rub your face in it and you will be a tad underwhelmed with the execution of it. It doesn't break the movie for me... but it's like a small crack on a 4 foot tall mirror, cool looking mirror but once you see it, you can't unseen it.

I thought the movie was fine. A bit by the numbers but what isn't these days? Well, lots of movies aren't, but I didn't expect a Thor movie to NOT be by the numbers, if you know what I mean.

The Aether was an okay MacGuffin I guess, I don't really care?

EDIT: Greatest funny moment was when Thor hung his hammer up on the coat rack in the house.

Quick question my mom had, and I figured maybe some people who read the comics might be able to answer:

Why did anyone think a more or less mundane stab wound would kill Loki when he's a god? Or more particularly, when he has already survived being used as a ragdoll by the Hulk on concrete with basically no lasting harm in Avengers?

Probably the fact that superhuman toughness is generally a threshold of what can actually affect you. So Hulk beating on Loki was like you or I getting beat up by a dude. Likewise, if Loki got some supernatural stabbing going on, it's like you or I getting stabbed. In other words, a wound is a wound; for dudes like Loki you need like ten tons of tnt to do the same a spoonful would do to us, but the end result is the same.

I'm mostly asking if those were, like, special heaven blades or something.

Well I'm assuming the average dark elf is much like an Asgardian in their power level/ability to kill. They're immortal after all.
