App for reading manga?

My physical book collection has gotten to the point I no longer have the space for it. Most of which is manga. Since I now have an ipad I was considering getting primarily digital copies. My main issue however is I want them actually downloaded onto the tablet so I dont have to rely on wi-fi. I have yet to find an app that lets me do that so I was hoping you guys know of ones.

An internet browser plus SC Viewer. Neither is the ideal solution that makes the angels sing, but SC Viewer is small and fast and I like it, and I can't comment on why you should use your browser for comics because reasons.

what good is an internet browser if I dont have internet access though?

I've been using Pocket Manga (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.supo.pocket.mangareader). It has some ads(And a little bug where they get displayed non-stop - if this happens exit and enter it again) but plenty of options for downloads and the pages go into your SD.

There are also some legitimate options coming out, like Yen Press (http://www.siliconera.com/2014/03/24/square-enix-offer-175-emanga-titles-200-countries-via-major-online-retailers/), Manga Box (http://www.siliconera.com/2014/02/09/dena-launches-free-manga-app-english-japanese/) and Comic Walker (http://www.siliconera.com/2014/03/15/kadokawa-will-let-read-gundam-evangelion-english-free/).

Also Comics (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.iconology.comics) if you're interested in some western once in a while.

what good is an internet browser if I dont have internet access though?It tends to have a better selection than your local library or bookstores. And I don't think most libraries and bookstores lend/sell digital manga, though I could be wrong.

You don't need both at the same time, which I guess I wasn't clear about. First you need an internet browser, then you use SC Viewer. SC Viewer doesn't need an internet connection.

Edit: Oh, wow. I just started looking into this, and you don't even have access to the file system on an ipad. I didn't know your problem was that bad. I guess you can't just store comics on this thing, at least not as easily as with an android device. Sorry, it seems I didn't really understand the question from the start.

I should specify, I want to buy the manga because I believe in supporting series you like. But I want to be able to access what I have bought even when not connected to the internet

The only legitimate one I use is Comics, sorry. It does support downloading and reading later tho.

But reading the descriptions, Yen Press seems to be about buying, downloading and reading later.

I don't suppose there's any way for an app like that to put in volumes you've physically bought?

If Manga is in picture form (jpg or whatever), and in carefully ordered folders, most E-readers can read manga like a book. I've had no problems with Moon+ reader.

Also, calibre (a windows program) can convert a cbr or a pdf into another ebook format for reading using an ebook reader like Moon+ or Kindle reader.

I actually just re-visited this thread for a suggestion like this. While I have been using Calibre, I haven't explored its manga-to-eBook capabilities. I have been wondering how well my Kindle would handle manga.

They weren't legit but I've converted .cbr files to I think PDF (I can't remember) and just used the same thing you use to read ebooks and magazines on an iPod Touch.

Basically iOS is terrible.

After dabbling I have discovered most publisher run apps download to the device itself. Viz, yen press, and Marvel all do. It does require multiple readers, but it gets the job done.
