Sob.

The time has come for Shiney to head home and for life to resume some 'normality', though for the both of us, it both feels stupidly wrong to be apart.

This morning, 4am, we wake up and get ready to go. My dad takes us to the airport. We go to check in. The woman can't find Shiney's details. We go to another desk...to be informed his flight is tomorrow. So we have to do this ALL over again tomorrow morning. All the tears and painful goodbye.

Things that suck about this:

We haven't had much sleep at all. Monday we woke up at 9am. It wasn't until 7am this morning that we got some sleep. Plus the fact we'd walked a good 8 miles or so on the Monday seeing sites and the like to memorise our last day together.

I got sick at the airport check in. I haven't felt sick much for the whole 3 weeks Shiney has been here, but I suddenly felt like I could vomit my insides out. The doctor may have been right about my sickness, it's due to stress and emotions. Thus saying goodbye to Shiney AGAIN tomorrow morning is gonna play hell on me.

And then there's the issue of having to work tomorrow afternoon and dealing with the assholes there. Joy.

---

We don't know what to do with our day right now, probably just sit around with eachother and enjoying eachothers company.

Well that sucks. I just hope you two can see eachother again soon.

I've been in that situation. It's good to use the extra time together to do something you've never done before.

Do you call him Shiney even when you're together or do you guys whip out the government names?

Aerozord
06-08-2004, 09:50 AM
Be kinda cool to still call each other by forum names. Like pet names. Anyways I am sorry for your plight. I would advise not thinking about it. Anxiety would ruin any chance for a "moment". Thats what I do when I worry about what will happen tomorrow. To lessen stress maybe just treat it like any other day and just have fun

RaiRai
06-08-2004, 10:19 AM
We actually don't say each other's names much at all. Forum or otherwise. Mostly honey, sweety, cutesy stuff like that. It's gonna suck being apart and not having that.

On a different note, welcome back to 8bit, Swift Wang. :)

What is your job?
I work in retail. Bitchy customers. Bitchy staff. Useless management. Overall stress and annoyance every day. I'm going to look for a new job once Shiney heads home and concentrate on sending some of my poetry to publishers. (See Arts and Crafts forum in a while where I'll be making a thread on this subject.)

I didn't know shiney was in Canada! :D

Or RaiRai in Scotland for that matter! :D

I'm just kidding! I'd see this as a greater opportunity, one in which you can spend a few more hours with each other. A savouring period if you will.

I have to applaud you two on being able to keep a long distance relationship.

Kinda romantic being separated by land and sea but still be in love with each other all the same.

Here's hoping to the day you two can be together again "clinck"

If you're feeling really sick, just pop some pepto-bismol or something right before ol' shinnifer leaves, so that way you won't feel sick and can have the heart-throbbing, romantic goodbye that you want.

RaiRai
06-08-2004, 04:18 PM
It's an actual sickness. It's been on and off for about 10 weeks or so now. Just seems to get worse when I get emotional. And considering I'm an emotional person, I tend to throw up a lot. But I'll just take it easy. Afterall, it's just two months until I see him again and we never have to say goodbye after that.

What you need is a holiday. That always cure people. Sick or not.

RaiRai

I've had a three week vacation for Shiney's visit. That classes as a holiday in my books. I don't have the money to actually go anywhere yet - saving for our wedding. ^^

That money thing....how much do they pay you?
Almost £6 an hour. Not much considering the work that I do. Plus, I'm only part time because they refuse to give me a full time 9-5 shift.

Shiney left this morning, by the way. He should be getting ready to board his flight to Minneapolis from Amsterdam. There were a few tears, but it all happened too quickly to be too overwhelmed. I came home and went to bed. Nudged against 'my side'. I had the whole bed and still I kept to one edge. It's gonna be a long time until this feels normal again...

Again, to my question? I work. Shiney works. That's the only way most people get their money. O.o

Osterbaum
06-09-2004, 04:07 AM
...Where does shiney work then? And more importantly how much do they pay him?

RaiRai
06-09-2004, 04:08 AM
He works in a factory. And I'm not entirely sure of his hourly wage, I'll be sure to ask him this evening. He's asking for overtime, and I'm telling my manager that I need full time work or I'm moving on.

Osterbaum
06-09-2004, 04:11 AM
So you're both workers. Lon live communism! Yeah well... :D

Anyway...Have you counted how much it will take you until you have anough money for the wedding?

RaiRai
06-09-2004, 04:12 AM
A lot of work, but we can do it within the two months we'll be apart. We need over £1000 to be able to afford this wedding, probably even more. We'll be working things out a little better when Shiney gets home.

Osterbaum

You wouldn't happen to remember how much is 1£ in €? It's hard to think in pounds when you dont know how much it is...

Zweihander
06-09-2004, 08:18 AM
1.00€ = 0.664190£
1.00£ = 1.50570€

Brought to you by some random converter I googled (http://www.xe.com/ucc/). And there are things worse than retail, such as McDonald's, or putting stuff in, sealing, stamping, and addressing envelopes. That was the worst summer ever...

Meister

Heh, I once had a job with an hourly wage of [E]4,60. Though that was in the movie theater, and the free movies sort of made up for that...

... especially since they never bothered to actually put me on the weekly work schedule...

And no, I'm not going to bother converting [E] or pounds into $. Go use the random converter Zweihander, whom I now like because he apparently reads Something Positive, googled up.

EDIT:[E] = Euro sign. How come Osterbaum can write it while I can't?

Aerozord
06-09-2004, 09:32 AM
I think it might actually be the keyboard...I can make those signs in word but on here all I have is $.

Anyways why is it two months exactly? I imagine it wasn't just the money otherwise you would have waited a few more weeks so he would have enough to just stay.

Isn't it tradition for the father of the bride to pay for the wedding... or part of it? Maybe it's just us Bass Ackwards Americans.(How did we become a world power again?)
Well good luck with the wedding...you should post pics for those of us who won't be fortunate enough to be present then.

My father pay for my wedding? Not likely. He has 5 children and my mother doesn't work. So he's paying for the family. He couldn't afford my wedding expenses and I wouldn't ask him to. I wouldn't ask the same of John's family either, because we come from similar backgrounds and I know how hard it is to keep hold of money.

Why two months? My cousins wedding is in two months. She issued an invitation to us and John would really like to go. To prove he wants to be part of our ever growing family. Also so I can catch the flowers. XD It also beats the waiting of 11 months that we did before. That sucked.

Not only was this not exclusively an American tradition, the bride's family paying for the wedding is very outdated, unless the bride's parents are millionares :P My brother and his wife had a huge wedding they paid for themselves, and my own wedding tho incredibly small and relatively inexpensive was paid for by my husband and myself. (yay cheap vegas).

Suddenly you call him John. It confuses me...

I think that these days its pretty much that the groom and bride pay for the wedding themselves. There are offcourse exeptions.

Aerozord
06-09-2004, 02:53 PM
well my family is big on tradition so thats how we do things. My grandparents paid for my mom's wedding and we expect mine and my brothers wife's family to pay for ours. Of cource my parents still get reception duty so it balances out abit

RaiRai
06-09-2004, 04:02 PM
My parents are giving us space to live here until we can afford a place of our own. I think their dues have been paid in that alone.

Aerozord
06-09-2004, 05:39 PM
agreed. I am saying that because we are big on tradition. If they cant afford it then by no means expect them to pay. Besides when they are buying it really becauses their wedding if you know what I mean

I make about the same as RaiRai does, but I work many more hours. I have 40 hours a week guaranteed, plus I will be taking a disgusting amount of overtime while I am away from her. We're going to be able to afford our own wedding in august, just a matter of exactly how much it really will cost. However, I expect sometime before the end of the year you will see a "Shiney and Rai's wedding" thread.

The waiting is killing me. Not for the wedding so much as being back with her. It's been a single day and I'm already going out of my mind...

Yeah, rub it in that you can make the pound symbol... Anyway, the pound does roughly 1.40 opposed to the Euro. I don't know the exchange to the Dollar, but I think it's around €1.80 or so.

Hey, about the wedding, are all forum members automatically invited? RyanAir offers cheap flights from Germany to England, and they're not the only ones.

I don't know if we're inviting people to this wedding or not, or even if it really will be as soon as august, just that we should be able to afford it by then. We might hold our own ceremony privately and then have a more "public" wedding next year/later on. We're still talking it through.
