I was curious to what other people dream about and how odd it gets. Since it is a weird dream I will assume it will stay apropriate. Now this was my weirdest dream mainly due to the fact I didn't know you could actually do it. I did psycho analisis in my sleep, literally . In my sleep I was analizing why we tend to spend more with a credit card then when we use cold hard cash.

Heck if I could do that who knows what I can do in my sleep.

Ok, here goes.
I have a really wierd condition where I do not dream, and if I do I am unable to remember any detail from them.
The exception to this is a recurring dream that I have once every year on July the 17th, without fail for the last 11 years. Now, no traumatic event happened on this date, so I am curious as to why it persists to haunt me.
The Dream: I am in some kind of expedition into the amazon, or mayan, rainforest. The party comes across some old temple, and all the local guides run away in terror. Everybody else, including myself, enter the temple and find an empty hall leading to some kind of throne room. Upon entering the room the party leader finds a ring on an alter, this causes the door to slam behind us, the lights in the room change to a blood red, and a voice tells us that we will all die.
Before the dream ends the door opens allowing a dark figure to enter and take the ring form the hand of the dead leader. At least he is polite enough to thank us for our efforts before he departs laughing.
I wake up in a cold sweat every time.
What do you think of that?

Sounds like the opening to Raiders of the Lost Ark. Before the boulder.

I think the weirdest dreams I had was the one where Sigmund Fread was in it, interpreting it as it happened. There were these angels with monkey tails instead of wings and he was ranting about what an athiest I was or something... I'm pretty much exclusively using my live journal for my trippiest dreams, so if you're interersted:

Be warned, it can take like 3 pages for me to write out my huge ass monster dreams!

Last night I dreamt I was on this massive spaceship which was under attack by all these super bug aliens that JUST WOULDN'T DIE! I swear, no matter how much you'd shoot at them with a laser oozie they'd just keep coming, and killing soldiers in big splashes of blood. Their jaws could chew through our space age metal to and because they ranged from the size of ants to as big as trucks they could access every damned crevice everywhere. So the chain of command broke down and most of the soldiers ran to completely shut off parts of the ship to enjoy their last couple of hours of life before being eaten alive... Mmmm, lesbian space soldier action.

Some guy psychically turned himself into a super bug to fight off the enemy back on Earth, but I still think humanity was doomed or something.

my weirdest dream was one where I was at school, and everything was happening exactly like it does normally, only I was actually bothering to pay attention in some of my classes. Considering the sort of dreams I usually have, this was pretty weird.

I've had a few strange dreams. Once, the night before a calculus test, I didn't really dream, I just went over the dirivitives in my head. It wasn't a dream, because It wasn't like I was seeing or experiencing anything, my mind just simply continued a thought while I was asleep. The next day, I aced the test. It was excellent. I wish I could study that way all the time.

I also have a reacuring dream. It doesn't happen too often, it probably just replays in my head because its so memorable. In my dream, Santa Claus kidnaps my aunt, so I go driving up to the north pole to save her. Half way up there, I buy magic candles from a cat, and don't do anything with them. After that I get to the North Pole and enter Santa's house, which is a bowling alley with large midevil weaponry on the walls. My aunt is tied in a chair, and I fight santa claus. Then, I grab an axe of the wall and cut Santa's head off, after which his body rips apart and turns into bats. I then grab santa's head and grind it to nothing in a bowling ball shining machine.

Is that weird?

Another dream I once had was when my friend went to japan to visit relatives. I dreamed that I had to go to Japan to tell her something, so I drove to New York to catch her at the air port. She left before I got there, so I drove on a bridge to japan from NY (In my dream, new york was made of bridges to everywhere). When I got to japan, it was night, and I was in the middle of the country when a van drove me off the road. Then I woke up.

I've had other wierd dreams, but I can't remember them as well as these. There you go, enjoy.

My weirdest one was when I was young. If I remember correctly, Santa Claus had captured my family, then shoved them into a sub that was floating right next to a cliff that was right next to my house (I didn't have a cliff next to my house). When I tried to bumrush Santa, he sicced a firebreathing hamster on me. When I tried to get back into my house, a skeleton popped out and then I woke up.

Thats when my mom stopped letting me watch Are you Afraid of the Dark.

Actually the fire-breathing hamster got to me...it was like how no one really cared about Goldfinger but you pissed your pants if Oddjob showed up.

I had a dream once that I was a SQUARE. Just... a square. A red one, if I remember correctly. I was just... a square. In an infinite, two-dimensional plane of white-ness. I just sat there, wondering where and what I was.

...I'm not crazy. What is that stick for? What? Get away!

The wierdest dream I ever had was at four when I dreamt I was kidnapped by gremlins and almost fed to a couch. With teeth.

My coolest one was sometime last year when I dreamt I was unloading a whole lotta lead into these robot things. Man, that was an awesome dream :-P

Gather round children and listen to the tale of weirdest dream I ever had. I don't remember my dreams often this one I remember very well.

It was one dark night and I was hanging out with my freinds (only I had never met them bfore but I knew they were my freinds) when a ghost started making them fade out then disappear one by one we knew somehow that the ghosts power source of power was in this hotel with light orange painted walls and an old fashoned cage elevator. We made our way to the room where the ghost's power was (at this point it was just me and some other guy). Inside the dark room was a lone computer set against the wall. Displayed on the screen was a pair of green binoculars. If you put your eayes up to them you could see inside it where the aliens from the Flash game Combat Instinct 2 by McFretn (of whom I was a fanboy of at the time) were controlling the ghost. Just then the ghost bust thruogh the door and we hopped out the window into a openbacked garbage truck. Then my last freind dissappeared. This is when the dream got real interesting. The Jellybean Knights stormed the hotel hoping to get to the aliens (for these guys think of the M&M mascots only jellybeans who have swords and are also 2D cartoons). The ghost quickly turned them all to stone and I began making my way up the hotel (which semmed larger this time). I attempted to get in the elevator but my sister was in it and when I tried to catch it before she went up in it she merely waved and declared "Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye." and kept repeating the word "Bye" in a monotone voice. As it went up I grabed hold of the bottom (cage elevator remeber) but had to let go when it reached the top of the doorway. I climbed the stairs but got lost on my way up (what the hell?) and ended up at the indoor sky slope. I went down and as I went down Bigfoot who was a cartoon with one eye and one foot attacked me, him being on skys as well. Reliseing he was the leader of the aliens I took off my sky and speared him in the eye and promptly woke up. Honk if you read all of this.

I am pretty sure that few can challenge a dream such as is this tragic saga of The Jellybean Knights. I challenge you! Go ahead try. If I deam your dream weirder then mine its a free pass to my "Rue the day" list.

for some reason Devon's dream reminds me strongly of Starship Troopers and Starcraft. which only proves I watch too many dumb movies and play too many video games. what's Devon's excuse? hehe

my weirdest dreams are probably the ones where I dream that I wake up, and then I dream that I wake up again, and again, over and over, until when I finally really do wake up it takes several minutes of pinching to be sure I'm actually awake. It's kind of nerve wracking.

Most of my reams aren't particularly memorable, or are rather easy to decipher for me (I tend to have a lot of dreams that are a remix of the things I thought about and saw the day before).

A recurrent theme is tornados. Last month, I happened to have a dream with this theme. I was in a big city, a city near a body of water, and I want to say that it was in Japan, but I'm not sure. Anyway, I'm there with a group of people, and where all running around with a sense of urgency, doing stuff. Anyway, a feeling of danger or peril is consistantly growing throughout this.mundane runaround. At one point, I'm in a hotel room, curtains closed. I walk to the window, open the curtains, look outside, and see about 20 or so long, spindly tornados out over this rather wide river. At this point, I run into town, I look up, and see them still towering over the city. And I get the feeling that they are rather unnatural. So I start to look for what is causing them. End dream.

And, of course, for a cool dream, here is one of my favorites: Riding around town in a car, talking with Darth Vader. We eventually go to see the emporer, who's sick and dying, and lying in the biggest fucking bed I've ever seen. And then I go outside and climb along the ledge between windows for no reason at all, really.

But AerodynamicHair wins the award for "Coolest fucking dream EVER!", with his Battle Against Santa entry.

Oh, and Leefy, I tend to get the opposite of what you get. I tend to actually physically wake up, but still be dreaming. This tends to happen when I'm not sleeping well (which happens a lot), and man, it's wierd. You're awake, completely aware of your surroundings, but your mind is transfiguring what you see, and fits it into the context of the dream. I tend to have a hard time actually realizing the fact that I'm actually awake, and thus actually get the concious control to turn back over and go back to sleep (it usually happens after I've slept for about 3 or 4 hours). Man, it's fucking trippy.

I had possibly the coolest dream ever two nights ago.

My house was taken over by two hispanic-looking drug runners. My brother and I were the only ones in the house at the time so we were pretty much kidnapped. But, he was always on the computer in my room for some reason, not caring about anything that was going on.

A few weird things happened over the course of this dream. One thing was that we both still had our cell phones and were allowed to use them. So, of course we attempted to dial 911, I tried a few times, but the men always almost found out so I had to hang up quick. Then, they finally took my cell, but not my brother's.

Then, as I was attempting another call to my family members, a massive (we're talking fuggin-huge style) dump-truck/tractor trailer pulled into the driveway. I heard a fight start about a "shipment coming too early". A gunfight ensued between a guy in the truck and the two original kindnappers, ending up with the truck driver dying. The men came back in as if nothing happened.

After a few hours of attempting to make calls and them making threats at me, they went outside for a smoke. I somehow managed to grab one of their guns. They came back inside and I aimed the gun around a corner in my house they would have to come through. Just as they rounded the corner and I pulled the trigger, I woke up. All I could think of was "DAMNIT!"

The dream didn't end there, though. I fell back to sleep and entered back into the exact same dream, continuing from where I left off. It turns out I missed the first guy so I continued firing. I hit him in the chest and arm twice and he died. The second guy I knocked out with a few pistol whips. The police later came to clean up. Then I woke up and had to go to school.

ok I got two more. Now I dont have nightmares. Meaning I have never woken up in a cold sweat like pretty much everyone. You see I have a defence mechanism where I wake myself up. Not out of fear but consious desire. In other words in anything even close to a nightmare I know it is one and wake up on my own. But one time I was thinking if vampires, zombies, and werewolves all create more of themselves through biting, what would happen if they bit each other? So I had zombie-werewolf-vampires on my mind for a few days. Now one night I dreamt those creatures were attacking and I was in my school. Now as I said before I knew it was a dream and tried to wake up before I was frightened and tramatized for life. But I actual spoke these words in the dream and they about say the rest, "Crap I have gotten such little sleep I cant wake up". So basically I just play tag with the monsters untill I woke up (tag is a metaphor so you know). After that I stopped RPing that stuff period. I still wont go near the idea of it.

The other one wasn't really a dream and thats what made it so freaky. Well one time I woke up in bed. My sences were dead. I was awake but couldn't ; move, see, hear, smell, taste, or feel anything. All I felt was a presence behind me. This may sound weird but the only thing I could call it was evil. It felt evil, and I dont mean the its cold and dark I mean it was a unique feeling and my mind just said evil. The presence moved to my back and latched on. My sences then all returned and I just thought. "what just happened"?

[edit] I am suprised how many called nightmares the weirdest.
PS Bob did you know that your location streches out the screen. for my resolution atleast

I don't know what's wrong with me. In every dream I can remember clearly is me fighting something.

For example: In the one dream, I still have no idea where it came from, these Demon things had taken over the world and were turning all the people they captured into these golem things. For those who don't know, a golem is generally a large humoid figure made out of rock. Anyway, I get turned into a golem, but for some reason I still have my free will and all that, so I break out and start busting up the demons. It's was weird.

Another weird dream: I'm playing basketball in front of my house with some people. I don't remember if they were people I knew or just people my mind made up. Anyway, a bunch suddenly stop playing and turn into werewolves. So, what do I do? I grab my gym-bag (don't know why), run into the my backyard, and transform into...a rhino. Yep. A rhino. Then I come roaring back out into my front yard and I start fighting the werewovles.

In other dreams I've fought vampires, zombies, a cult of Satan worshippers who kidnapped some girls I knew in school at the time, gang members, and I think I even went up against a necromancer once.

I never have normal dreams.

EDIT: Oh! I just remembered another one! My standard fight the monster dream, but, get this, at the end of the dream, it ran credits. CREDITS! Like at the end of a movie! How messed up is that?!

I have had dreams that are actually memories from when I was one and two. I actually told my parents about the dreams and they told me that stuff actually happened. The really scary dreams I have are the ones that perdict things. Like one day I was sitting in my living room fixing a computer and all of a sudden the image of the room as seen from a corner flashed into my head. Thats when I realised I had had this dream two nights ago.

I had a dream when I was like 7 or 8 that I remember one image from that will never leave me. I have no ideal what the rest of the dream was; all I can remember is a cartoon truck with a crazy cartoon driver headed right for me. I don't know what the dream up to that point was I just remember that.

Then of course there are the dreams that start normal then towards the end I convince myself that I can fly by jumping and not letting myself fall. Low and behold I jump and it works.

I had this one a couple years back.

I was alking through my elementary school's library, which was a pretty cool place. There were some classrooms that had doorways into the library, and in this dream, I go into on of these. Suddenly, I am in a house. One I cannot identify. I am in what looks to be a bedroom. As I remember it, there was a dead body in this bedroom. I don't know who it was. It was a big man, curly red hair, reminiscent of that guy in the Rudolph claymation movie. Cornelius, I think. Anyway. So, now its me and a friend or two in this house. I suppose we told someone about the body, cause this big black lady comes into the room and does something about it. So we're in this house now. We went through a closet in the room, and it was filled to the brim with awesome star wars toys I'd never seen before. That was a big thing for me, cause I'm a huge star wars fan. So we go around through this house, through secret passages and whatnot. Then we're in my old house, the one before the one I live in now. We're in teh dining room near a big window. I look out, and see some massive ostrich-like things. That's not so bad, but then they start making this noise, and it's the most horriffic thing I've ever heard. I can't quite remember it, but just the thought of it scares the bejeesus out of me. Still. So I hide by the window, scared for my life. Then we're outside the house in the snow, and the ostrich things, there are two of them, are hunting through the house for me, making that noise.

I can't remember any other part of it after that. That was near the end, though, I remember that. Left me with a wierd feeling all day.

This is a dream that I had not long ago. I'm not sure how much of it this is, as my dreams tend to fragment in my memory, and the bits at the "edges" of the fragments become fuzzy.

The first thing that I remember is a little boy. He was holding on to my shirt, and wouldn't let go. I tried to pull away, but I couldn't. He was too strong; in fact, he was having no problem holding me. I think that it was about his point that I started to feel more than a little anxious. I looked down at him (his head came up to about my belly), and the look in his eyes was... indescribable. It was even, almost emotionless, but at the same time utterly evil. At some point during this I realised that the boy was in fact a demon. He looked back at me, then threw up two small gobs of vomit on my shirt. He then let go, and I think that he just walked away.

The next part that I remember is standing in a bathroom, very much like one that was in a house that I lived in years ago. In the bath (which had a shower curtain), was a strange thing which I had constructed (I don't think that I dreamt the construction, but I knew that I had built this thing). It was red, squat, I think just under waist high, and vaguely draconic in design.

Scene shift again, and this time I was watching a computer game. Note that the game was the entire scene; no room, no screen - the game was the scene. I was observing from a 3/4 isometric view. The landscape had a vaguely volcanic look, and was flat and tiered, long flats increasing to my right in a step-like fashion. The thing which I had constructed was there as one of the "good guys", as was a wizard. They began to move to the right (which seemed to be the direction of play). The wizard got far ahead, which I remember thinking was foolish, and was thus killed when a horde of large red demons attacked. My construct survived, badly damaged but still fighting.

The final part is very fuzzy. I was in a room with someone else. One of us opened the door, and there was a woman there, who I knew to be a demon.

This is the third time that I can remember which involved a computer game. Each time I have been in the game world. The first that I can remember was a 2D sidescroller. I wasn't playing one of the characters, I was one of the characters. There were a number of us. The last happened last night, and involved a 3rd-person 3D game where I was/played as (I'm not sure which) an alien in an action/adventure game.
