As we all know, the last attempt to Americanize Godzilla was pretty bad. Any hopes that this one will be good? Also Pacific Rim took the whole ridiculously huge monsters from the ocean theme to whole new level. I doubt this new Godzilla can compete with that......

I was kind of on board with it but all the new trailers show that Rodan is also in it and I just don't understand how you do that in the your first movie of your Godzilla reboot.

That's not Rodan. It's a new monster called Muto (http://godzilla.wikia.com/wiki/M.U.T.O.).

I would slap you, but Ook already corrected the information. I will settle for sitting here and making this face at you

All other prospects about this film have me interested, so I'm pumped.

To their credit, it at least looks like they're trying to be more loyal to the source material with this one.

I mean, at least we're not back in the 90s where they'd take adult movies and make kid shows out of them.

...though Wolf of Wall Street Sat AM would be pretty awesome.

Hey, frick you, Godzilla: The Series was boss compared to the film that spawned it

It's inexplicable how good it was. Well, not really. It had some kind of creativity behind it.

Anyway, okay its Muto instead of Rodan, but my point is that it seems weird to introduce other monsters in it.

Really, though, this is the best Godzilla thing:

You've clearly never seen Godzilla: Final Wars!

VERY MINOR "SPOILERS"

I'm a bit mixed on the new Godzilla--it felt like two entirely separate movies. If Godzilla had been the antagonist and there hadn't been any MUTOs I feel like it would have worked a lot better. I mean they even have Serizawa in there and everything!

As it is, it's like we have two separate movies happening--over here, the humans are trying to stop the MUTOs. And over HERE, Godzilla is trying to stop the MUTOs. The two storylines just don't seem to really mesh well. Just being in the same geographical region as each other doesn't really seem to make the two plotlines relate to one another, either.

A couple of scenes in it have really haunting cinematography though--especially the HALO jump. That's just a beautiful piece of cinematic mastery.
