I know there will be multiple posters, but the first poster to come out of the Hobbit part 3 has no Hobbits or the main character... just the Dragon and Not-Legolas

You gotta put focus on the character the fandom's gonna identify with and support the most strongly.
Oh, and some hobo with a bow, I guess.

That Hobo with a Bow is Bard of Laketown you uncultured swine. He was the slayer of smaug. And the book is over 50 years old, there is a statute of limitations on spoilers.

I thought Smaug made friends with the hobbits and they joined forces to send Darth Vader to the Negative Zone and then they were all from the same orphanage in the future but time was collapsing on itself so Smaug sacrificed himself to rebuild a world without war where Nobunaga and Ranmaru could have science babies.
You're saying Legolas offed him? Did it involve surfing down a crowd of orcs?

Don't be absurd, Phil!
It was a crowd of goblins.

I still lost a lot of faith in the movies after Part 2. You could tell that Part 2 was half a movie. I enjoyed it still, Part 1 was a whole unit, Part 2 was clearly half of a unit, in the same way Pirates of the Carribean 2 was.
Also, I lost a lot of faith in the extended editions, after there was about 10 minutes of extended stuff total in the first movie. I felt ripped off. This is unrelated, but I am unhappy about buying it. >:(
That said, I am going to see the third one. I just wish that they had handled the movies better, as it feels non-cohesive the way they did it. The trilogy really feels like "Part 1, Part 2 Part 1, Part 2 Part 2", instead of "Part 1, Part 2, Part 3", and it bugs my sense of completion and aesthetics.

He's either holding his bow in the wrong hand, or his quiver is slung over the wrong shoulder. This bothers me.

...I still haven't seen ANY of these. I was super enthusiastic about the first one; my folks were not and complained about how they always fell asleep during LOTR.
So of course they go see The Hobbit while I'm at work --BOTH movies, so they pulled this stunt twice-- told me they were lame, and then didn't want to see them again when I was able to watch. So I've never seen the first one, and the female elf and Legolas Is Here For No Reason made me lose interest in wanting to see the second one.

Mauve, gimme your schedule and I'll do a movie night just for you. Maybe after doing a booze run to soften the blow.

I wish I could be excited. The first movie was watchable, made good only by seeing it at 48 FPS, which was really cool. The second movie was worse, and yeah it's nothing against the special effects crew or Smaugedict Cumberdragon, the Peter Jackson fan fiction just needs to end now. Not even 48 FPS saved the second movie.
I will probably watch the third movie at some point just for completion, but not in a way that gives anybody any money.
