Alright. I have returned and with my return, I have brought a new RP. ^^ (yaay)
And for once, this is a futuristic RP. (no way, right?)
This RP begins in a metropolis called Aeron. The world's leader in technology (picture Midgar from FF7 and imagine how advanced that place is compaired to the rest of the FF7 world, that's basically Aeron with technology somewhere in between Zanarkind and Midgar) A seemingly normal city on the outside....... but the city of Aeron isn't all it seems to be...
There are several sectors of Aeron:
Upper Sector- Where the rich executives and important people live. Kept very nicely, police is very organised
Middle Sector - The biggest sector. Most all of the businesses are here, hardly any residency. Police is very strict, especially around the Cheron buildings. (Cheron: major industry that controls much of the city, (think Shinra)
Lower Sector- As you've probably guessed, the lower sector is for the poor "scum" of Aeron live. Very dirty. The police is very unorganised and are known to be quite aggressive. Some of the shadier businesses are here.
You are all normal, everyday people who live in Aeron, or are currently visiting Aeron. (that means there should be a wide range of people) Weapons include all normal weapons (guns, whips, small explosives, etc (even swords if you really want one) as well as some small energy weapons (small lazer guns.)
And I think that covers everything without making a horrendously long sign-in thing. So here's the bio sheet:
Name:
Age:
Gender:
Appearance:
Equipment: (weapons, items, etc)
Bio: (include here where you live in Aeron (the good areas, the poor areas, etc) or why you're visiting Aeron)
Alright I think I got everything. Any questions? (I might not be around to answer them right away, it's storming out and I might have to get off of the computer.)

FUTURISTIC RP, GLEEE! Thank you Celes! I'll definitly join up for this! Oh, and welcome back!
... Sorry, too excited...
It's alright. It's good to be back.
And since it seems that there are some new RPers since I've been gone, I will introduce you to the rules. (yes, I know there are basic RP rules, but I would like to stress a few things)
1. While asking questions and such is alright if you need to make sure of something, remember my word is final in these arguements, if another RPer tells you to stop fighting and shut up until I get here, that would be good advice to heed.
2. No god moding
3. Let's all get along and make this a good RP. If you have an "attitude problem", I'll be sure to fix it with an "Iron (yet caring) Fist"! (heheh. I couldn't help myself)
Those are the three rules I would like to stress. I still expect the rest of the general RPing rules to be followed, these are just the three I want to make sure we are crystal clear on. ^^ heh.

Aww come on, can you two even play nice in just one of Celes' RPs without trying to rip each other's heads off? And we did make it through Perdition's despite the fights. With Celes back, it's almost like a RP Family Reunion here for crying out loud, so can you two at least learn to take your battles to PM or something?
Also, a question. There are laser weapons, but are their cybernetics, IE robotic eyes or arms or legs or whatever?

Alrighty, I lost this message earlier because somebody unplugged the network when I sent it. *glances at brother* I'm going to smack somebody.
Bombshell- Like BM was saying, do you think you could put a little more into your bio? I'd appreciate it if you did.
BM- You can't be a robot.
JAD- I won't hold you to your promise. You can be in my rp.
IHMN- How did I know that you were going to be the one to pick out the "whips" out of that whole thing? At least I know you read all of it. ^^ Oh yeah, and I like your new Avatar, I just got to watch the rest of RvB recently. Caboose is the best.
Forever- There are cybernetics, but they wouldn't be extremely high-quality, unless you were really really really really rich.
Also, I forgot to mention but your characters can't have some really big-time important job, like the CEO of some important company.
EDIT:

Name: Shad Ligonis
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Appearance: Caucasian, brown hair (cut short), deep set green blue eyes, 5’11”, and ears that seem too large for his head.
Equipment: Laptop, penknife, windbreaker jacket, foldable umbrella, and a bag which is large enough to hold the said laptop, umbrella, and his work papers.
Bio: Shad is an energetic, yet unremarkable virtual reality programmer who lives in the Middle Sector of Aeron. Shad has made a name for himself in the VR programming world for his excellent work in the area of water dynamics. He can create the best damn puddles you’ve ever seen. He frequents a local bar in the hopes of meeting a woman but never does; he is however, a very good darts player. Shad also sometimes goes down to the local community college and tutors students on mathematics, physics and programming.

JAD-I'm already going to hell for all the other shit I've done. Figured I might as well upgrade (downgrade?) to a few levels lower.
Celes-What? I was serious.
Fine fine. If I can't use that character...
Name: Derek
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Appearance: Derek stands about 5'10" tall, and is rather thin and gangly, to the point that it's amazing he's able to wield the shotgun and .45 at all, much less fire them without losing a limb to the kick... but he can. In fact, he doesn't look dangerous at all. If one were to put him into a stereotype just from the way he looks, clothing not-with-standing, they'd probably say either 'geek' or 'nerd', thanks to his frame. His face, thankfully, doesn't look 'geeky' at all, although it is rather effeminate, with a thin jaw-line, thin nose, and long eyelashes, which merely lends more to the initial feeling of his being completely non-dangerous. Even his eyes, which are a brilliant shade of bright emerald green, are light and jovial, completely belying his skills and job, as does his hair, which is long and tousseled about his head.
Equipment: A pair of .25 caliber semi-automatic pistols, a long barrel .45 revolver, a sawed off 8-gauge shot gun, a jack knife, brass knuckles, and a kevlar/poly-cotton weave duster with a lead lining which has been altered to hold and conceal his various guns.
Bio: Derek is a hired bodyguard and gunslinger, and, even though he lacks any formal training, he's very good at the latter half. Unfortunately, he also has the worst luck of any bodyguard in Aeron city, and so, although his skills have always been enough to keep his clients alive, no one that hires him ever manages to pay him without getting shot at least once along the way.
As a result, he doesn't get hired very often, and even when he does he doesn't get paid very often. Who's going to tell a mob boss that they HAVE to pay... even though they took a bullet in the kneecap when you were suppose to be guarding them? Not Derek, that's for damn sure. Unfortunately, that also means that when you're asking such questions as 'who knows where they're going to get their next meal?' the answer is also 'Not Derek'. What little money he does get tends to go toward keeping his weapons and duster in good repair, because without them he can't make any more money.
Although he lives in the lower section of Aeron city, he's been known to end up in all the sections thanks to his job, although the upper area is a bit rare lately. All the CEOs can afford bodyguards with better records.

I give up. I just won't do this right now. Too many things going on in school (yes, I'm still in school), finals are next week, my brain's probably been fried by being in my room with no air conditioning (and I'm in the attic, so it's more like an oven), and I have nothing to do otherwise. I'm just going to stop until summer vacation comes and I can actually think alittle more clearly.

Name: Brad (Better known an B-Rad)
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Appearance: I'll get around to it. Just think Happy doctor meets Hitman meets Sam Fisher
Equipment: Various scalpels, needles (arm), medicines (arm), some swabs, and the neccesary bandages, as well as anti-bacterial stuff. He also has something called a laser scalpel. There's one in the tip of each finger, and it projects about half an inch out, and is about three times effective as a normal scalpel. He can also set them to cauterize. Also, contained within his forearm (which opens) is a needle and a few chemicals.
Bio: Brad is a doctor. In fact, a very good one. He lives in the Middle Sector, and is in the business of saving lives. Or, he was. Right up until someone thought it would be hilarious to drug him, then amputate his arm and sell it on the black-market. So, he got a bionic replacement. He outfitted it to aid with his surgery, and other medical stuff. Most notably not having to run around for chemicals.

It's a laser that shoots out of the wrist of his bionic arm, that has a range of about three inches. It is about 10 times as effective as a normal scalpel, so he uses it in intensive surgeries where he can't waste time.
Forever- There are cybernetics, but they wouldn't be extremely high-quality, unless you were really really really really rich.[

Well I'm not looking to lift buses and punch holes in metal doors, but are they better then the normal biological counterpart?
They can be better, if you are really wealthy. For the most part, robotic body parts are used for people who had already lost a bodypart in an accedent, and in those cases, the cheapest ones are much worse than the biological counterpart while the more expensive ones can exceed the biological part by a little.
Example-
Regular Eye- like a regular human eye.
Cheap Robotic Eye/Visor- Much blurrier and these are known to malifunction often.
Expensive Robitic eye- better than 20/20 vision, maybe it can zoom in a little, stuff like that.
HighonPawns- The armor wouldn't be too awesome. No armor that reflects bullet shots or anything like that. (remember, you are, for the most part, normal, everyday people. I don't know about you, but I don't keep a suit of armor with me at all times. ^^ heh
And from what I see, everybody's sign up so far looks good to me.
And thanks for the welcome back everyone. ^^
EDIT: SS I forgot, your arm would probably have a habit of malifunctioning every now and then, that's how most all mechanical bodyparts would work.

Normal... Right...
Let's see, we have the body guard (Already not normal) who can't prevent his employers from getting shot.
Then we have a doctor who for some random reason had his arm cut off and sold, and get a cyborg arm with a laser in it, then decided to snipe people. (Side note: I would rather stay injured then have an unstable laser in a poorly made cyborg arm to cut me).
Gato's character is actually normal though.

Ta-da, character finished.
Name: Zeth Durahan
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Appearance: He stands at 6 foot 1 inches tall, and is fairly tall compared to the norm. His muscular frame speaks of one that finds physical activity necessary in his work, and takes to his duty with a gusto. He wears an all black form-fitting body armor bodysuit, but to disguise it he normally wears a white T-shirt, khaki pants, and a brown leather jacket over it. While he is still pretty young, his face is covered in brown stubble that matches his messy brown hair, and looks aged before it's time, with his calm grey eyes giving him the look of wisdom beyond his years.
Equipment: A Redline laser pistol he wear on his right belt holster, a Predator heavy pistol in a holster in his jacket, and a Vibro-knife he keeps in a holster in his right boot just in case. He also wears a full suit of the latest in form-fitting body armor underneath his normal clothes. He has had his right arm replaced with very high grade cybernetics that are meant to look exactly like his previous flesh and blood arm.
Bio: Zeth used to live a poor life as an orphan on the Lower Sector, scrabbling about and making due whenever he could. As he grew up, he always felt constrained by the Lower Sector. The populace was stagnating, the police were brutal, the jobs were poor, and chances of advancement were near non-existant. However, whenever he rescued a newspaper from the garbage to learn a bit more about what was going on, he always heard about mercenaries, hired by the big coperations to do their dirty work while leaving no trail back to who did it. He dedicated himself to the goal of becoming a mercenary, since that would be a way he could make money and pull himself out of the grime of the Lower Sector. Whenever he had free time, he would train in any way possible, mostly with old, broken guns he found and repaired himself, and use until the guns broke again. He made a minor reputation for himself doing deeds for others in the Lower Sector, often for little or no money, but it payed off in the end when a big corperation was putting together a mercenary group, and one of their contacts heard about an up and coming mercenary from the Lower Sector. Ever since then, Zeth has been getting larger and larger contracts from corperations to work for them on missions, and has become a well known figure amongst Illegal and Mercenary circles, going as far as to join a small group of mercenarys known as the Radical Dreamers. He has made some pretty big money, and could live amongst the rich on the Upper Sector, but instead prefers to keep some of his secrecy in the Middle Sector, and uses the money he makes for his equipment and cybernetics he uses on his jobs.

To give things for people to be, you don't have to be "completely" normal, I just didn't want a huge band of seasoned warriors heading out to take care of business.

Well, I don't have problems with psychic powers as long as it's "thought reading" kind of stuff. Looking into the future just complicates things and moving things with your mind makes you a person that would be experimented on until death.

Name: Jude (or Psyco the Amaaazing)
Age: Mid 20s
Gender: Male
Appearance: A pale, meek, scrawny little man with messy black hair, he's very skittish. Usually wringing his hands and looking around.
Equipment: Since he knows there's trouble on the streets, he carries around a pistol, although he's a horrible shot.
Bio: Jude found out he was psychic around ten, and used it to fool people and cheat on tests. As life dragged on he began to curse his skill, and now grimly sits in a hole in the wall on Middle Level, 'reading palms' and telling people's futures by picking things at random from their minds. He makes enough as Psyco the Amaaazing to pay the store's rent, so he sleeps in the back and only leaves his 'shop' to get food and amenities. Since he can read the sickest thoughts of those around him, he is always wary.
Extra: Jude can read minds, give some a concentrated mega-migraine (usually incapacitates them, sometimes knocks them out), and 'allude' minds (distract them by making them believe they're seeing something else).

Equipment: Two pocket knives (A basic one, and then one of those giant ones with about 30 things hidden in it), a pencil, a pen, a notepad, a bunch of rubber bands, some paper clips, a roll of stoch tape, a roll of duct tape, and some magnets.
Bio: Bill lives outside of Aeron, in a far off city called Tedus. Tedus has no levels, the rich have to live near the poor. Working as a detective for the police force in Tedus, Bill was sent to Aeron to investigate and search for a criminal from Tedus who may have run to Aeron to hide. The Tedus city government paid for a hotel in the upper level of Aeron, so currently Bill lives in the upper level, though most of the time he is either in the middle or lower levels to investigate.
Bill has a natural gift of being able to solve anything with the simplest of items. If a guy is shooting at him with a gun, Bill can take him out with a rubber band, some paper clips, and some well-angled pieces of metal on the walls.
krylo, why are all of your characters always pretty boys?

Actually, I'm removing the sniper rifle, and the whole wanna-be super hero thing.
Actually, I'm gonna' get rid of all the guns, and the poisons. And tone down what he carries.
Also, I'm cutting the laser length down to about half an inch....and putting one in each finger. Justification? For the surgery cuts that he wants cauterized, and are so exact, he wants to just trace it with his finger to be sure.

Yes, yes it is.
Difference between MacGyver (Not McGyver) is everything MacGyver does works, because it is his show. Bill is not the star of a show, and his plans will be more outragous and random (Because I am making them up.
As well as personality and stuff (Bill is an oddball, and tends to make up strange plans for simple things like toasting his bread).

I can see our mission now…
“After shooting your way into an empty warehouse, you have to fix our spy's broken leg. He has the codes you need to program something, but he is mute, deaf, and has no arms, so you must find some way to get the info out of his head. Soon, guards will come after you. They are all whores and desperate for money, so you must find a way to get rid of them. After that, you will all suddenly be snatched into a net. Nearby there are some ropes, a chandelier, two pieces of gum, some barb wire, and a stuffed monkey. Once you are free, you must find the ancient laptop. Then program it. Once done, you must escort our spy out and back to the base.”

"After using the barbed wire to cut a small hole in the stuffed monkey's back, Bill replaces the stuffing with the barbed wire.
'Guard! I found this cute little stuffed monkey. Would you like to hug it?'
The guard, intreged by the offer of petting a cute monkey, unlocked the door. Opening it ajar, the guard stuck his hand in for the monkey. Carefully, Bill placed the monkey in the guard's hand so the barbs would not touch him.
Once he cute monkey was in his possession, the guard slammed the door shut. The cute monkey was to much for him to bear, so before he remembered the lock the door, the guard hugged the adorable creature.
'Ow!' The guard yelled out as the barbs dug into his skin.
With that yell, Bill slammed the door open and jumped out. Using the stuffing from the monkey, he throw it at the guard's face. Being blinded by the stuffing in his face and the slight pricks of the barbs, the guard tripped on his own feet and fell over. Bill took this oppertunity to grab the stuffing and sufficate the guard until he passed out."

Name: Pontius Ashvin, AKA "Masta P"
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Appearance: A stout, powerful and bald black man in his early thirties, Masta P dresses richly, wearing a heavy fur coat, a broad white hat with a feather in it and expensive jewelry, such as a thick chain necklace and jeweled rings on each finger. In addition, he carries a heavy metal cane with a golden eagle as a headpiece. However, despite his obvious affluence, his panoply is tastefully arranged and actually fits together, as opposed to being a jumble of accessories and clothes.
Equipment: Nothing Pontius wears is what it seems, apart from the jewelry. After several failed assassination attempts by jealous rivals, his fur coat was sewn with ballistic cloth and light ceramic armor plating, enough to protect against a shotgun and pistol fire, but not doing much to rifle rounds.
His cane is made of solid steel, and weighs somewhere around 10 kilos - however, his tremendous arms allow him to swing it around as though it weighed no more than a couple of ounces. It breaks apart in the center to form two small batons, and Masta P is very skilled in their use. Many a punk has gotten the shock of his life as this seemingly harmless "old man" beats them down with hardly more effort than he would take to open the door.
And his jewelry, while normal, is decpetively useful. Pontius finds that having rings on the hand serves as a very good substitute for knuckle dusters, and the almost-solid layer of gold chain on his chest has protected him from gunshots and shivs more than once.
Of course, this is rarely tested - for the most part he is warded by his bodyguards, and even if he were not, his reputation among the higher and lower levels serves to ward away all but the most foolhardy or desperate hoodlum.
Bio:
The man called Masta P was not always the rich crime boss he is today. He began as a lowly gangster, Pontius Ashvin, in the lower levels of Aeron.
Born in the gutter and raised in the streets, Pontius was the quintessential street rat. He had no name until he saw a trivid holocast of "The B-Team", where the character called Pontius Ashvin caught his eye because he was as black as he was. Pontius took the name for himself, which fit very well given his innate physical aggression. Whenever he fought, his sheer ferocity would overwhelm most foes, and he quickly developed a reputation as a man who would stop at nothing to get his way.
Eventually, he was recruited by a crime family as an enforcer, and while being part of an organization removed the unpredictability of the past, the direct approach he took to most problems still remained. Pontius was infamous for causing more problems than he solved in his attacks, which was why he and his gang of low-life degenerates were usually held in reserve until some truly great threat merited his presence. When not on active duty, he was sent to police the Family's territory, and his violence of action meant that any neighbourhood patrolled by him quickly found its crime rate dropping to zero as the hoodlums scrambled to flee from him.
As he grew older, however, his temper mellowed, and he went from a fiery vigilante to merely being a ruthless leader of men. After the head of the Family was killed in a shoot-out, Pontius managed to gain control of the nightclubs and brothel operations, leaving the drugs, alcohol and gambling enterprises to the other lieutenants. It was at this point that Pontius changed his name to "Masta P" to represent that he was a changed man, and to avoid any unnecessary stigma associated with his prior vocation. Using the remnants of his "B-Team" and the services of a capable major-domo of the Family, Pontius managed to organize the acquired properties into a lucrative base of capital.
Masta P was different from other pimps in that he treated his girls very well. He treated them like ladies, provided they acted like ladies. While he could be very tolerant of an individual girl's troubles ( he let a prostitute who wanted out go with his blessing, though usually most did not want to leave) he was adamantly against drugs being used by his "employees" and against "bitchy" behavior in his girls. If he saw them happening, he dismissed them without further discussions. And if any fool should actually dare to harm his girls... well then, that fool wouldn't make the mistake twice.
A quirk of Masta P is that he likes to walk the neighbourhood in disguise, wearing a heavy, plain coat over his clothes and hiding his stick's head inside his cloak. Some say he patrols the place. Some say he's spying on his enemies, and possibly, friends. But only he knows that he does this to get to know his territory better, as well as the people living on it. He masks himself so well that sometimes even his own minions fail to recognize him, and this is how he likes it.

Gender: Female
Appearance: 6'0 with auburn hair, brown eyes and a slightly athletic build. She can usually be found wearing her paramedic uniform which consists of a blue or black paramedic shirt and jeans with black work boots and her EMS jacket.
Equipment: Trauma bag which contains seringes and various fluids (like salene), bandages and gauze, burn gel, scissors, masks, gloves, and other medical supplies. A boot knife and a 99 millimeter gun for protection and a standard issue EMS First Response Ambulance.
Bio: Paige works as a paramedic on the lower level, so she has seen her share of horrors. She diligently is known always as "first on the scene, first to leave" and boasts a very fast transport time. She has lived in Aeron all her life, being born on the lower level. She wanted to help those whom she saw getting hurt everyday, so she joined the ambulance corps.

Hmm. I wanted his coat to be a slightly upgraded version of modern-day personal armor. If he gets hit by a shotgun or a powerful handgun, there's going to be massive blunt force trauma. It's like getting hit by a sledgehammer or a thrown brick - it may not break the skin, but it'll hurt like hell, and it can cause broken bones, concussions or even death with just one shot.
He's not invulnerable - the armor just covers for him in case he can't get to cover in time. There's a ceramic hard plate over his chest which *is* proof against rifle rounds, but it's over his heart, and not very big. In any case, he only wears it when he's expecting trouble.
And Masta P won't be in gutta-talk mode all the time. He's respectable now, y'know?
Krylo
06-09-2004, 11:32 PM
It has Kevlar and ceramic plating, I guess, so it wouldn't be too far off for it to stop pistol shots, but a shotgun blast from close range would probably rip through it.
Dante
06-09-2004, 11:39 PM

*GASP* You don't know?! Here is an intro:
"In 1972 a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire the A-Team."
The A-Team are:
"Hannibal" Smith (George Peppard)
Templeton "Faceman" Peck (Dirk Benedict)
H.M. Murdock (Dwight Schultz)
B.A. Baracus (Mr. T).

Name: Wily Jankins (Crazy Dr.Wily)
Age: 21
Gender: Male
Appearance: Crazy Dr.Wily is a sight to see. His right eye is cybernetic and was originally high quality though he claims to have repaired often times he must hit the side of his own whenever it cuts out, and most of the features don't work on it anymore except for the HUD. His right eye sits halfway out of his head and is a bright red with no pupil, whenever he finds parts he believes can repair it he will pop it out at the first chance. There is a small beacon behind his right ear that relies information about his surroundings to it. His left (organic) eye is a dull grey color that looks normal. He wears a black cyberpunk outfit (think Jazz from pockybot or see here (http://pockybot.com/gallery/index.php?pic=4) googles, and headphones included ) His wears a black fadora (think :rmage:'s hat) with a scrap metal feather stuck in the side. he has a tool belt with various screwdrivers, small drills and other mechanics tools in it. Equipment: Drills, screwdrivers, various mechanics tools, personal computer, anything he can pick up.
Bio: Crazy Dr.Willy lives on the lowest sector of Aeron as a mumbling michanic. At night he sneaks off into the upper section's trash dump and looks for any cybernetic, robotic, parts he can find or anything he thinks he might be able to use or sell. He carries the Akurei Buki for protection and to subdue any would be theives that would try to steal away part of his findings. He tries to repair the parts he aquires or salvage their usable peices to make one working part. His right eye is an example of this and it took him years to repair it, though it still does not always work perfectly.
Edit: Taking out the sword thing, don't want to give him to many skills, he'll fight with his drills, tools, and any inventions he makes.

Name - Kireek
Age - 24
Gender - Male
Appearance - A tall man of 6 feet 2 inches, Kireek almost always wear dark and/or camouflaged clothing, hiding much of his features. However, from the clothing, one can see that he is well on the balance of strength and agility. There is an ammo belt slung across his chest, and a rifle always resting near him.
Equipment - A single-shot rifle, which he wields with deadly accuracy. A silencer for the stealth purpose.
Bio - Born a street boy in Lower Aeron, Kireek learned many of the life's lessons by hard-earned experience, from the pain he had taken to the near-death situations. As a result, living from the Lower Aeron had been enough for him, and with a rifle and enough cash, he ascended himself to the Middle Aeron, working as a freelance assassin/exterminator/enforcement 'aide'.
