Always late, always lost. (http://www.nuklearforums.com/showthread.php?p=1240809)

So I guess the wrapping of a present doesn't matter. It's the thought that counts... and the thought is that I am a wrapping paper serial killer. It's frightful. Meanwhile, in the present, there's a dinosaur serial killer. Well, one. One dinosaur - and one dinosaur murderer, I'm afraid. It's quite serious.

I was Christmas shopping and found season 8 of Doctor Who, the first episode, theatrically speaking of course, and a whole lot of other junk that I wrapped with duct tape and sent cross country.

I also bought booze.

So, Peter Capaldi, thrill me.

Thrill me with your cross eyebrows.

Oh boy, an extended Strax segment. That's really what we want. Strax is best when playing an entire scene alone (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2k9GQK0b_g).

I guess this is the Doctor Who recap? Wasn't this handled better elsewhere?

arAjbSkKF-Q

Is crying dinosaur the same as tortured space whale? Is confused Capaldi (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJ3TYduBs1I#t=5m02s) the same as hungry Smith (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnY8jkPbqPQ)?

LYVbpCX-2cE

Why is Vastra walking around without her veil?

Why are they mad at Clara (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Xx4NbPkHGM)? She flirts with mountains?

Oh, no, dinosaur. Wait - wasn't dinosaurs in space the beginning of the terrible bit of Doctor Who (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/b/b1/Sixth_Doctor.jpg)?

Tomorrow in "The Doctor scares the crap out of homeless people." I guess that episode could really be called "The Doctor (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUZ50cAk_Lk) scares the crap (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4xm9NHNUf8) out of people (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=--4zUpQzZ5Q)."

A lot more focus on the lesbian couple, then.

Okay, witty banter and Jenna Coleman make up for a lot.

Oh, dick move Doctor.

...I like Jenna Coleman a lot now.

Wait... saved by douchey classroom brat?

...Back to liking Coleman. Wait - so robot dude is only missing his face because of why? He's got every other bit but that section of his face. ...He walked around Victorian London with his face missing and robot whirring! Him and Vastra! Are humans for all time like "Yup, that's all right then!"

...Yeah, we probably would. There was a dinosaur, then.

---------- Post added at 01:26 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:55 AM ----------

Not so much a dick move, then.

Everybody forget that happened.

Aerial silk dancing!

"I've got the horrible feeling I'm going to have to kill you. I thought you might appreciate a drink first." I like this Doctor.

Oh wait, Hollywood battle scene. Doctor attacks robot.

She's a Lizard! She's a Victorian era Matrix extra! Together they're lesbians!

And that was rather... disappointing for such a build up.

Why am I suddenly reminded of Mr. Bingley?

Round things on the walls!

9aC3Ar5fvOk

Shades of Mr. Darcy now.

Wait, Eleven? Fuck you.

Fuck alla y'all.

I'm out.

---------- Post added at 02:11 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:37 AM ----------

So! New Doctor, Clara, the old gang (who I both love and hate for the same reasons) and Madam Vastra (who I just hate.).

...Well, what did you all think of Season Eight?

---------- Post added at 03:02 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:11 AM ----------

Oh good, I wanted my first real episode to rip off of previous episodes (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jIjUSzpYcuA) and The Fantastic Voyage (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hjiVViMuS4).

It was a decent season. Some really terrible episodes, some really good ones. I like the new Doctor in general, and while some things bug me the overall plot of it wasn't awful...

I think the editing bugged me the most, overall. It was really... weird, in quite a few episodes. Didn't work. And Crazy Mary Poppins was annoying as hell until they stopped shoving her appearances into the middle of things.

... I will never forgive the moon episode. But I'll let you get to that one to make your own mind up about it!

Gretchen: Tell me the truth. Is he mad or is he right? I've come this far, probably gonna die anyway. Wouldn't mind something to do for the rest of me life. Is he mad, or is he right?

Clara: Hand on my heart. Most days he's both.

Gretchen: Gretchen Alison Carlisle. Do something good and name it after me.

The Doctor: I will do something amazing. I promise.

Gretchen: Damn well better.

So far, it's pretty good. Kind of reminds me of the time they did the Doctor's Soul (http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/Dalek_Caan) in The Missing Earth, but it's still good.

I think Robin of Locksley is as close as I'll get to actual knights with swords.

...Except for Sir Robert MacLeish from Tooth and Claw (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3aWIYQHxXEo), what with the "I committed treason for you... but now my wife will remember me with honor!"

You know, when I talked about The Three Musketeers, (http://www.nuklearforums.com/showthread.php?t=43512) I was surprised to see that the titular musketeers were constantly broke, vain and thought with their penises.

...Much like actual knights.

Wheras the fantasy knights - King Arthur and his ilk - are real. Real cool. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aL54-EZtv9Q)

Oh. Oh dear. Oh d-d-d-d-dear.

The other Doctor, that was a Doctor you could go for drinks with (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQ9f878BBt0). Several drinks (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLZOFZggG4w), actually. This is more like drinking with your lady's dad. All cross and awkward and demeaning (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4F84WapAH7M).

Pretty entertaining on some spectrum (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFhLZK-pwtA).

Okay, Addam's Family (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UKj_m5sUZTM) is pretty great...

But every bit of new Doctor Who I can give the inspiration.

That bit in the school? That Sarah Jane bit in the school with Tennant.

That Dalek in chains that could feel? That other Dalek in chains that could feel.

Pompeii. Orphanage. Swing music. Scotch.

Isn't there anything new?

Seil, I think you've confused NPF with Twitter.

(I'm only being sassy because I'd like to discuss this past season but I find your mostly contextless reactions impossible to engage with.)

Seil

Okay, can we discuss how terrible the finale was? Like, I get that The Master regenerated into a woman, but how did she get to the "Afterlife?" Did she find a Gallifreyan hard drive or did she build it herself? Why did she think she could control the Cybermen - she could, but that turned out poorly for Mercy Hartigan.

And then the "Brigadier" cameo? She fell out of a plane! That's a cool death! Let it be!

Rick! Discuss! Your Mistress Commands It!

Steel Shadow
12-19-2014, 11:26 AM
Well, seems the 'afterlife' was Gallifreyan tech all along. And she's Gallifreyan, so yeah she could have gotten it any number of ways. And because she built them herself and did so properly! Ish.

And the Lady surviving is just putting the toys back in the toybox for other writers to use. And it wasn't really a cool death.

Overall it was an okay finale. Not that great, but good moments. Not gunna complain about it. We've had worse, after all! (Eggs don't work that way! Neither do moons!)

whilst

Deep Breath was pretty rad. Lots of focus on Vastra and Jenny being space lesbians, but it was pretty neat.

I thought that the moon thing would have been better - I loved the spiders and the cobwebs on the moon and I was really interested until they were like "The Moon Is An Egg!" and then we had a repeat of giant space whale.

The Boneless were really cool - I thought they were inspired. And the Addams family bit was cool. Same with the "Listen" monster under the sheet on the bed. That was a cool scene.

Into the Dalek was interesting. Wonder what they're gonna do with that, then.

The Bank Robbery thing was also interesting, but less so. The creature worked better as this creature instead of a sympathetic figure.

The Orient Express was cool - if only to see Clara's flapper dress. Actually, Clara's fashion has been pretty spot on this season. It wasn't a great episode, but it served its purpose. They just said "it's a train... IN SPACE!!!!!!!" too many times.
