Well so far, we have a working flying car and hoverboards. And the US built a ship mounted laser cannon. We kinda have mini mecha (the Kuratas) and the japanese gov at one point did consider the possibility of building small mechas. A bit more for space exploration though.

Commercial space crafts are some what being attempted, well tested at least. And stuff is starting to become more interconnected via the Internet.
