Looks like Sony understands that it can't make good Spider-Man movies. (http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/spider-man-heading-marvel/story?id=28861694)

Disney-owned Marvel Studios has announced a major deal with Sony Pictures Entertainment that will bring Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe -- meaning Spidey could soon finally join his "Avengers" pals onscreen.

While Spidey has always been a Marvel character, a 13-year-old licensing deal allowed only Sony to release movies featuring the web-slinger.

The results of late have been mixed: While the franchise has generated $4 billion for the studio, both the box office receipts and comic fan cred of a recent pair of reboot films paled in comparison to the Marvel Studios movies released by Disney, which include blockbusters like "The Avengers," "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," and "Guardians of the Galaxy."

The new deal will see the producer behind those and other hits, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, produce new Spidey movies for Sony but, even more exciting for fans, the deal will let Spidey join Iron Man, Captain America, The Hulk and his fellow Avengers on the big screen for the first time.

"I am thrilled to team with my friends at Sony Pictures along with Amy Pascal to produce the next Spider-Man movie," Feige aid in a statement. "Marvel's involvement will hopefully deliver the creative continuity and authenticity that fans demand...I am equally excited for the opportunity to have Spider-Man appear in the MCU, something which both we at Marvel, and fans alike, have been looking forward to for years."

The first Spider-Man film that will be co-produced by Feige under the new Sony deal will be released on July 28, 2017.

However, before that, Spidey will most likely appear in the Disney release "Captain America: Civil War," set for release on May 6, 2016.

The web-slinger and his alter-ego Peter Parker play a major role in the Civil War comic series' plot, which sees Cap and Iron Man at each other's throats regarding a government program to register superheroes.

The July 28, 2017 Sony Spidey release has led Marvel Studios to also announce some new release date changes for its upcoming Disney flicks.

So yeah, we finally get our webslinger back into the Marvel fold. It sounds like he may even get to show up during Civil War.

Yes, it's real. Marvel worked out a contract with Sony to get spidey back while still allowing them to make spiderman films.

Hmmmm, I'm feeling pretty mixed about this, since I actually liked AMS 2. It was way better than the first ASM anyway.

And also, am I the only one who feels that its waaaaaaaay too early to be doing a Marvel Civil War film? Most of the characters involved would probably only have like 1 appearance before hand, if that. I mean balls, Avengers has only had 2 silver screen adventures together and already theyre gonna tear each other apart?....its...its just....GAH!

If I remember correctly, the through-line from the MCU is that the events from Avengers 2 (wherein Tony makes a world-ending murderbot) is what triggers Civil War when the Government goes "See Tony! normal people like you can't be trusted with this shit, let the government handle it....oh and we should register all the super people as well," and Tony is all shell-shocked and like "Yep, I screwed up bad here, that sounds good," and then Cap is like "What the heck? That's not how my America works!" and then Boom! Civil War.

Aw dammit, so my suspicions of Tony creating Ultron were correct.

mumble grumble, lack of Hank Pym, grumble.....

Yeah, Pym won't be in Avengers 2 as far as I know. Or, if he is, it'll be as a cameo or name-drop in an email or something.

EDIT: I'm still not 100% that Pym will actually be in the Ant Man movie either (as Ant Man). I think he's the old guy in the trailer that passes the suit and name on to a new guy. Anyway, they are going through great lengths to not let Hank's wife be a thing so we can't have a founding member and oftentimes leader of the Avengers (Wasp) actually show up in an Avengers movie for some reason.

The civil war story line clearly has to take at least a slightly different approach since the MCU has a comparatively low population of super-powered individuals.

Unless of course they ramp things up quick with Ant-Man , Spidey, Daredevil, Luke Cage, etc.
