I nearly missed this show like I missed The Office, which was by me wrongly discounting the shows based on their popularity.
Thankfully, I caught up around season two or three and never looked back. Parks and Rec has been consistently hilarious, but in a way that made me feel good rather than cynical. It was brilliant, and bright, and hopeful, and I'm going to miss it.

I didn't start watching until last year because I'm a stupid idiot who apparently doesn't like trying good things. I quickly binged the whole series and have been a devoted follower ever since. The parks department has left us too soon.

I tried getting into both shows and I just couldn't. Found every character despicable.

If you started Parks and Rec at season 1, Mac, bad idea. Definitely a show that took a while to find its niche. I got in at season 3 and thought it was adorable.

If I have to wait for X Amount of episodes or seasons to get me hooked, I don't bother. I have tried several times, I just think everyone in that show are jerks.
But if you like it that's cool. Who am I to judge

I was really unhappy that they killed Garry. I know they gave him a happy ending, and it was years and years into the future, but they didn't need to kill him. There was really nothing gained.
The other thing that made me unhappy about this season is that they were far too cute/"clever" with the "We're in the future" stuff, and it didn't serve them any purpose. All that being in the future meant was that they ignored major plot points and characters (Ron's wife and kids, for one), and kept making too many (not very funny) "we're in the future" jokes.
I mean, it wasn't like the season was bad, it just wasn't very strong, either.

This is the weirdest philosophy to have about serialized media. Nearly every show with this style of production takes at least a LITTLE time to find it's footing.
Also: Despicable? Kind of strong wording, I'm curious as to how the Parks and Rec characters qualify.

Yeah, they don't possibly qualify as despicable, even at their worst.
Like, Arrested Development? Sure, you can not want to watch it, because they ARE despicable characters. Parks and Rec? Not so much.

Despicable is a harsh word. maybe obnoxious. I am willing to give a series a season to hook me if its a new show and 2 if its an older show.
