Do you know how many gangster movies there are? There are a lot. Like, a lot. There's a space of land where they put gangster movies - the good ones, "The Godfather (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sY1S34973zA)," "The Untouchables (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0KTI7_PCfI)," "The Sleepers (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQu7BaU6UtA)," "Gangster Squad (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qilrVR0miPU), "Dog Day Afternoon (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CF1rtd8_pxA)," "Reservoir Dogs (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vayksn4Y93A)."

What happened, gangster films? You used to be cool. You had class. You had an audience. Now you're pop culture set pieces. What happened to the cool crowd?

Wyndon. Remember Wyndon? (http://www.nuklearforums.com/showthread.php?t=33908) The sexy forum poster who posted about Public Enemy (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8xOgO7_eT8)?

What happened to gangster culture what where... well...

Oh hey, I didn't see this thread! While gangsters aren't popular movie fodder at the moment, there are some great old ones I think you'd enjoy while waiting for someone to make some decent new ones. If you're lookin' for good gangster films, try these:

WHITE HEAT (1949): A fantastic thriller staring James Cagney, one of the greatest gangster actors of all time. This film is the origin of "I'm on top of the world, Ma!"A gang boss suffering from debilitating headaches, controlled by his manipulative elderly mother and schemed against by his wife and right-hand man, plots a prison break with a man who is secretly a government agent.

KEY LARGO: Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall, and Edward G Robinson. (Robinson is another of the most famous gangster actors of all time. When you see cartoons of the typical "gangster" with a cigar and a fat lower lip who says "Nyaaah, see?" they're caricatures of Robinson). An elderly hotel owner and his daughter have closed up the hotel for hurricane season. They have a single guest: an old friend of the family. But a band of gangsters outrunning the cops show up and take over the near-empty hotel as a safe house for a night-- and then the hurricane hits.
