I'm going mostly off of spoilers since I haven't gotten around to watching it yet but wow some major deaths and Yang is now technically a cyborg (or going to be). I kind of saw that last one coming since Yang was first unveiled during the teaser trailer days. It was only a matter of time before it finally happened. I can't wait to see her new arm though. I expect they might go for a Ghost in the Shell approach and make it look natural. Or the FMA approach where she'll be rocking a long sleeve jacket and gloves to conceal it to prevent an accidental spoiler during the season 4 trailer/preview.

Either way I think my interest in RWBY has been revived. Might go and get caught back up the proper way later once I get the chance to.

Well, she's not there yet. It's certainly the thing everyone expects - there's some fantastic fanart - but first she has to recover from her loss. And as you might expect, considering... everything, she's in the lowest spirits I've ever seen her. The girl's pretty much given up. I hope she heals quickly, but it may be some time.

I don't think I can be as enthusiastic for Volume 4 though. Pyrrha was my favourite character. Everyone saw her death coming three seasons away, but there was never a girl who deserved it less. From the middle of Volume 3 on, her life was pretty much just confused misery, but she never truly broke, and when the moment came to give it all, she didn't hesitate. She was, to me, the best in the show, and it won't be the same without her around.

Still, it was an amazing episode, and a fantastic volume all around, really. Very good show. Do recommend. Just, y'know, don't go at it with your heart on your sleeve, they will destroy it.

Yeah, I think we can all agree that Pyrhas death was pretty heartbreaking and unfortunately, expected in equal measure. I kept hoping that is was so predictable that they might actually subvert expectations and not kill her off. Alas, it was not to be.

But on a happier note (hey I gota get my silver lining somewhere here!) can we all just take a moment and discuss how awesome and badass Velvet is? Because holy shit that weapon!

Also, my random future prediction; Emerald will undergo a heel face turn at some point and join the good guys. She was already kind of horrified once the Grim invasion kicked in fully, in contrast to Cinder and Mercury who were both loving it, and now that Cinder is kinda/sorta/maybe gone I don't see her wanting to stick around with Mercury much longer anyway. Mostly I just hope she gets a chance at redemption because she's probably my favorite character after Pyrha.

That was basically my hope too, Hawk. It's not like we didn't all see it coming from the moment we found out who she was. And it only got worse over the season when we saw how kind and giving she could be. Girl was a real hero, and deserved way better than what she got. Though in fairness, Pyrrha vs. Cinder was the best fight in the show so far.

And I've seen that prediction floating about. Personally I hope it doesn't go that way, just because 'female who feels bad after doing a ton of evil and turns good' is a cliche in and of itself... But eh, if it happens it happens.

... I'm still in deep denial over Pyrrha, honestly! I just want her to come back, she was my favorite character. And honestly the Silver eyes thing was horribly done. Like yeah, I know they were mentioned a few times, and Ozpin found them very interesting - that was fine. We knew there was something special about Ruby. But that power came out of nowhere, and it was freaking massive. It would have been nice if we'd had minor signs of it before. Like Grimm hesitating around her, or little mysterious stuff... Oh well.

Well, given the theme of the season, guess it's no surprise it's ending on a dark note. As for Pyrrha, well.. I am not too broken up about it, as she knew that she was going to her death. It's why she launched Juane away.

As for hints as to Ruby being special... they were subtle but they were there. For example, her early fighting ability was enough to get her into a basic standoff with Roman, as well as her being able to fight without looking fatigued. Also, being able to spot really tiny details, such as Neo's umbrella catch being exposed during their fight.

Yeah, even from the very opening, this season's soundtrack has made no secret about how this season was gonna go down. And on that subject, as much as I truly enjoy this show, I just want to take a second to acknowledge that the music is the one thing about this show that is always excellent. The animation can get screwy in the non-combat scenes, the story can drag at times, and the early Voicing was kind of questionable, but through it all the music has continued to kick just... all the ass.

Seriously, this fucking villain song:

It's been fun wandering through the fandom, reading various people's thoughts on her choice there, and it's kind of surprising how many people called her an idiot or arrogant for running up to fight Cinder. I have no doubt she knew she was going to her death - you can see it in pretty much every action she takes after she realizes Ozpin's failed to stop her. The Kiss, her hesitance, the expression on her face as she uses the elevator... And her fighting style was completely devoid of her usual confidence. She was going all out because she knew she had to. Idiocy and arrogance? Nah. Heroism's just a bitch. She went and held the line, and it paid off, even if she might never know it.

But I have to disagree with you about the eyes. Roman was honestly never shown as that good, and while Ruby's skill with Cresent Rose is amazing, it's only with Cresent Rose. Once she loses that, she's almost helpless. She's really good, but not super stand out good - the others on her team all seem to be her equals or her betters, fighting wise.

And I wouldn't really put her noticing Neo's umbrella switch as anything special - that was right in front of her, where else could she look? It was a very impressive move, but nothing that indicated magical super powers. What does indicate something strange is when she spotted Emerald from the other side of the Stadium before PvP - but Emerald seemed to see her right back, so that's not a silver eyes thing.

And what'd Qrow say? Powerful and a leader of men? Well clearly not without some help - Ruby needed a scolding from Weiss and a pep-talk from Ozpin before she realized that she needed to take being the leader of her team seriously so that the people under her could trust her.

The Silver eyes are there, and I'm not complaining about them - well, not in this post - but they weren't well done. Like, Silver eyes = special, that got through in episode one, but what they actually could do, that came out of nowhere. I don't think we should have been told the silver eye legend, or whatever, but the occasional sign of what they could do, of what Ruby could do, that would have been better. But oh well.

Geeze I went on a bit there.

And fuck yes. I want to hate that song but I just can't, it's amazing. The music is the real reason I got into this show, and it's the reason I'll never be able to escape it, and god damnit why do I have to wait until May to get the Volume 3 OST? WHY?!

Well, either way, someone's got some 'splaining to do then.

Thanks, I've been wanting the lyrics for this since I heard it. This is now gona replace I May Fall on the infinite loop in my head that's been playing since Velvet kicked all the ass last ep.

Well, this and every other awesome song, which is basically all of them.

Yeah I get the feeling Cinder survived that and is probably just frozen along with what's left of the dragon.

And Velvet is now my absolute favorite character simply because she can mime weapons so perfectly among other things. That was all kinds of awesome how she went "Megaman" all over those mechs.
