Welp, it's finally arrived: The DuckTales reboot premiere is playing 24-hours solid today on Disney Channel.
Anybody here watch it? What are your thoughts?
I ended up enjoying it. I liked that the ducks are all individuals now, rather than Excitable Carbon-Copy Boys And Also This Girl. It's also nice to have Donald on-board (despite it being hard to understand him sometimes), and I look forward to seeing what the writers decide to do with that end-of-episode plot twist with the nephews' mom.
The nods to other Disney cartoons of the era (I heard mentions of St. Canard and Cape Suzette, and the girl waiting to interview for the accounting job with Donald looked a bit like Roxanne from the Goofy Movie) were appreciated, and David Tennant did a decent job as Scrooge. I'm interested to see if the upcoming episodes (which I assume will be 30 minutes each rather than a full hour like the premiere) will be as as fun as this first episode despite being shorter.
Disney's been hyping the hell out of DuckTales all summer long, and so far it's doing a decent job of living up to the hype. Let's hope it continues to be this fun.
Honestly though I'm just excited to find out when and how Darkwing Duck shows up.
