It's pretty apparent that 8-Bit Theatre was a huge hit long before I learned of it a few weeks ago. What caused you to stumble on this awesome site?

I can't remember how I found this comic in the first place but what kept me reading it is that it is a very funny comic based on one of my fav games ever.

wut drew me to this site?....
hmmmm let see.

ok so my friend told me about newgrounds.com and i went there once everyweek for about 7 months. then i looked up ff paradies. and the first parody was 8-bit theater. and the author gave all his credit to brian. and on his 2nd episode he posted the website to nuklearpower.com and i wanted to know wut happened next after the two fisted monkey style. and voila i ended up here. although i just found out about the forum 4 days ago.

Well first I found Crash and Bass online which gave credit to it's inspiration to Bob and George. And on the boards over there a lot of people were talking about 8-bit theater so I came here.

The fact that Brian Clevinger is, indeed, "hott". Note the use of two 't's, making him hotter than just plain "hot". Seriously though, that's the best user name I've ever seen.

Well, either that or a friend showed it to me when they were about 10 comics in. WM hadn't even been introduced yet, but it was still bloody hillarious, much like it is today. I've been addicted ever since.

Brian is so not hot. Have you seen his picture? XD

Anyway, I've been around here since episode 26 Temp. I find the comic humorous.

Firstly, it's cool how so many different ways can bring all these ppl to one place. Something to ponder, huh? Secondly, YES! I HAVE seen Brian's picture...when he made that executive thing. (Hilariously creative) I just love that goofy face at the end. And, why ty Krylo...:) Keep 'em coming, y'all...

One night, my crazy friend typed in "I like pie" into google. What he found was Weebl and Bob. He told me about this and I hung around there for a while. Eventually, I found Weebl's Stuff.com. Later, they liked to B3ta.com. I told my friend about this site and in return he told me about stickdeath.com. Later, he told me about Albino Black Sheep.com. From there, I looked into video game parodies and i found Black Mage VS White Mage at Mortisland.com. After about a month, I saw that he got the idea from, you guessed it, Nuklearpower.com. And the rest is history.

I first saw it on Game Revolution's web comic page. Didn't think much of it, as I recall. Then, one day, I was bored, so I looked it up and read a few. Realized how funny it really was. Read for about 6 months, then got up enough courage to join the forum (first, and only forum I've been on).

A long, long time ago, Pierre (Fuitad for all you noobs out there) used to run a comic called FFGlory. Somehow I found it on google, and I read it up to the point where he stopped making it. Anyway, I was a member of the forums, and at one point Pierre started running TWC. (Top Web Comics) The forums changed, and a whole bunch of other comics were on TWC. Not so many at the time, but there was 8-bit Theater and a bunch of other ones. So, I started browsing the 8-bit theater forums and I started reading the comic.

Thats how it all started. 2 years later and Im still here. Time flies, eh?

I was hanging out with a friend on IRC one day and he linked me. We thought it was crazy hilarious. A few months later I joined the forums, became the hugest spammer to ever hit np, then reformed and somehow convinced Brian to make me a moderator.

There was no blackmail involved. No, really.

Best part is I met my soon-to-be-wife thanks to nuklearpower!

Lastly, gonna sticky this topic and make it permanent. It pops up often enough and people tend to like it. So, this topic will remain open until otherwise decided upon.

Well, seeing as it's the official thread now, I'll retell the story once more with extra quality.

'Twas in the second month of the year 2003 when these lines' writer was hit by, simultaneously, a wave of boredom and the realization that he could now download roms. Since the latter sounded like a good way of coping with the first, he set out into the internet's vasty planes.

Alas, all he found was shitty, popup-ridden sites, and he was near giving up his search when he came upon the Cult of Kefka. Hands down the best site there ever was for that kind of thing and sadly taken down since... but that's a story for another time. For now it shall be enough to say that the site's webmaster was a man of many wits and an outlook on the world pleasing to yours truly. Thus, he (yours truly, not the webmaster) decided to browse through the Cult's link section, where he discovered a site called nuklearpower.com. This site was highly praised and our hero therefore threw a glance on it.

The rest, as they say, is history. I went through the archives throughout the following week and eventually even joined the forum (in May '03). On top, 8BT was my first ever webcomic... but by far not the only one. I think I discovered about 90% of the webcomics I read now through either the site itself or the forum.

I was hangin' around the MTG News Forums (http://forums.mtgnews.com) when a thread came up showing a reference to Magic: The Gathering at Bob and George (http://www.bobandgeorge.com). After reading its archive, I was hooked, and joined their forums.

Over the next few months, I read a few references to something called 8-bit Theater. Eventually, curiosity strung up my cat and threatened to hang it if I didn't go. I went through the B&G fanlinks, just in time to see the F-bomb. One more archive session later, I was hooked to this as well. Yay! :D

It was a bright sunny night. I was on the internet alone, bored, and depressed. Decided to look for something funny. I go to google, and typed in RPG Parody. Found this wierd webcomic. Wasn't sprite based or video game based. Was like hand drawn. Main character was named Hero or something and had a friend named cherry. Anyway, I saw a link to nuklear power and started reading. I've been reading since they used boatdoken. That be my fist issue.

My friend told me about it. I looked at it for awhile then stopped when it became too much of a hassle to use my dad's comp every time I wanted to read it. Then started regularly reading again after I got my new comp, because I couldn't stand not understanding all the quotes my friend was throwing at me. Hilarious stuff most of the time. Great comic, I love it.

I remember i was on a forum about 2 years ago, and me and my friend were arguing on it (even tho we were in the same library). That kinda annoyed some of the ppl who were on it, and one went so far as to call us one person and posted a link to the episode where Garland says his name is Garry or w/e... after i read that, i decided to start from the begining, and that got me hooked

One day I come home from work, and I found my husband in front of the computer. Dead. Minus his head.
The autopsy found the he had actually laughed so hard that his head popped off. So, out of sheer morbid curiosity, I looked up what he had been reading at the time of his demise. Guess what it was? Yup.
Now I read the site in the hopes that one day I, too, will laugh until my head pops and I can join my husband in the great RPG in the sky.

So I was searching some flashes at NG and I found LegendaryFrogs Chocobo mix. I went through the preloader and read it was based on 8-bit theater. I searched 8-bit theater at newgrounds and found the flash movies. There was a link to the comic and I clicked on it. I started reading, thought it was pretty damn funny and I told some friends too (none of them post here). That was back in 2003. Then after reading the comic for a while I joined the forums.

Mm, browsing the GameFAQs forums, and since I was playing almost NOTHING but FF1 at the time, that's naturally the board topic I perused most often. Anyway, as I was looking through my favorite topic of all, the "Stupid Question, Stupid Answer" thread (Why couldn't all of the SQ,SA threads be that purely funny and noob free?!), one guy made a mention of 8BT. I hadn't a clue of what the farg he was talking about, so I asked. Now, being that FF1 was a Nintendo game, it didn't have as big a fanbase as, say, SSBM (the top Nintendo-based game at the time... I think...). I therefore did a search on Google, and well, here I am!

Oh, and to the guy who said that he read 300 episodes in 2 days, did everything (and I do mean EVERYTHING) look pixelated to you? One guy on GameFAQs said that after reading a long series of 8BT strips, he saw everything in 8-bits for awhile... And I am very jealous of him...

To tell you the truth, I had first seen 8-bit D&D and nearly wet my pants laughing, errr, DnD freak here, but anyways, it said it was based on 8-bit theater. So I went back to the homepage of flashplayer and found it, after the first episode I was nearly winded from laughing so hard, and I watched all three. After that I sort of ignored the site link for a while, shame on me, but anyways, today, after religiously watching it for the 200th time I finally came here and registered.

Several years back, I was browsing through the links section of another web comic (I do not remember the name of this comic as it was not one that I normally read). Among these links was a link to 8-Bit Theatre. The link was a simple text link with nothing to distinguish it from the other links with which it kept company; however, I found the title to evoke a rather pleasing mental image (I've always had a certain fondess for the word "theatre"), so I clicked on the it. The premise of the comic struck me as rather interesting, so I read through the archive. Needless to say, I was quite impressed, and have kept up with the comic ever since.

Dr. Swordopolis visited me in a dream, and said the only way I would be able to learn teh mysterious ways of Zodiakenshido would be if I were to travel across the expansive expanse of sea, time, and expanding space, to a small location in a realm known as 'cyberspace' whereupon I would meet the holy messiah of the style. There it would be my destiny to learn the arts from him, and reach my full potential, that I might return back across those very same expanses, and return to my original place with expanded consciousness and extended knowledge of the forbidden styles. So I came here... and I've been stuck. Anyone know how to make a sword-chuck? Help!?

How did I come across 8-bit theatre? Well it all started on a crisp autumn evening last year, when a good friend of mine had pressured me to join him for a game of D&D. See I had never played D&D before so I thought I would give it a try, which is weird because form what I;ve heard its weird for an 18 year old to just get introduced to the game. Well anyway, my good friend was telling me about the rules and making a character and such, when his mom came down and said HEY GUYS COME LOOK OUTSIDE and we went outside and there was some crazy red light in the sky, I still don't know what it was, maybe a solar flare or something, it looked like the meteor thing in FF7 comming down. I played the game so long ago I don't even know what it was, but it was like that. But small...er, and Red, I believe the FF7 one was green?

Anyways we watched that shizzle fo ra bit then went back down to his wood panelled basement. From what I've heard one cannot TRULY experience D&D untill one plays in a wood panelled basement.

Anyways, We got playing and I was having a good time but then we got in a fight with this baby fire dragon, which I don't think is super tough, but we were all like lvl 1 or 2 at the time so it was a pretty big deal for us all. Actually it might have been a baby fire WHELP, not a dragon at all... I'm not sure.

Anyways, I rolled a 1 on my first attack, and my friend goes wooo that sucks you horribly miss and rusty sword. So I'm all like damn that sucks man what do I do now and he goes welll you have to see if you critically miss. So I roll again, and got a 1. So he goes haha your screwed your sword broke you might as well assume the fetal position and cry yourself to fiery death. At this point I got pissed and stormed out.

Anyways when I finally came back and had calmed down a little, I think I went for a little jog and kicked a fire hydrant to get out the anger, he said hey look at this itll cheer you up. And lo and behold on his computer screen was the first ever comic of 8-Bit theatre. And in the next three days I read all the way up to comic 375.

And THAT my friends, is how I, was introduced to 8-bit theatre

Well...It was almost 2 years ago, and my friend told me about a super comic about FF. In that time I was trying to get all the roms from FF1 to FF6, and it interested me a LOT. So, I enter the web and fell from my chair laughing... ah...that incredible day and the frase "Well where would you suggest they put a suit of mystical armor of invincibility?" XD

I got here from a link to the comic when they meet the half-elven dual class ranger/ranger and the dwarven berzerker. "THAT TWICE THE AMOUNT OF RANGER THE HUMAN BODY CAN HOLD!"
I read from the beggining after seeing that one.

It's been so long I can barely remember. There were only about 20 comics methinks. WM had just been introduced. Anyway a friend told me about the site. I started reading from the beginning and didn't find it that funny. Then I got to the WM-BM episodes and I was hooked.

It's amazing how stupid you are when you think back at a later date. Like how I'm doing now, remembering how I found 8BT. I saw a link on someones sig on a gamefaqs board to the strip where fighter is in a shop talking about sword-chucks (or something shiny, anyways). I thought it was hilarious, but it never occured to me that there might be more. A week later it finally hit me that that strip probably wasn't just random crap and part of some ongoing collection. I looked on google for 8BT (spending ages looking, cause I ignored nuklear power as the address had nothing to do with the comic. As stated before, I'm am stupid. And a dumbass) and when I found 8BT I read all off them up to 100 in one sitting. At 100 (again for some stupid reason I refuse to go into) I assumed the series had stopped or something, because just happening along at the 100th episode would have been too much of a coincidence (which is *exactly* what it was). But I came back and was pleasantly surprised. Being stupid does have its perks - you get surprised a lot. And that's probably far more than any of you wanted to know about me.
Oh, and whoever said "and the rest is history" shouldn't. Everything you said before that was history also! I demand to know every last detail of everything thats happened to you since you discovered this strip up until now, for the sake of consistency!

I found 8-bit through Newgrounds. I saw their flashes, and fell in love with 8-bit! However, I never knew there was more than that, untill a friend of mine sent me to this site. When I saw how much there was, I was absorbed, drawin in as a moth to a flame, one might say. Especially Black Mage and Red Mage. I like them better than Thief I think, though it is very close, a bit to close to call, really.

So yeah, that is how I got into 8-bit theatre! It took me a month, but I finally read from episode 1 to 400 something that is the latest one!

I decided to browse around online back at my desk job, landing here and reading all the comics. I re-read it a million times, and suddelny I was going to Penny Arcade too, and then I hit every online comic I could find.

Though I don't read the comic anymore, as my taste for it has kind of gone sour, I come to the forums regularly because it's one of the few that I can look at without sighing heavily and pressing page down to skip over the "omg wtf lol u r retardid!" posts.

My reading 8BT is intrinsic to being. There is no possible universe in which A and B, where A is "I exist" and B is "I do not read 8BT" (the First Law of Webcomic-Dynamics). Therefore, finding this wonderful little webcomic at some point in my life was historically inevitable.

The above statement is my lame excuse for not remembering how the hell I found this thing in the first place. But damn, am I ever glad I did! :D

Let's see... It was first introduced to me by a friend of mine, who also got me into Ashes of the Fourth Wall and Bob & George comics. Of course, there was more than that to it, wasn't there? Yes...

You can't just be lured in by a comic. You have to be SUCKED IN, like a black hole! The sheer amusement and entertainment must consume you until you realize - too late - that there is no escaping its clutches!!!!!

As you might guess, I like Black Mage alot.

[COLOR=RoyalBlue]I actually found out about it from a friend when it was still at the 8bittheater site and began to follow it myself two years ago. I think the Episode No. was about 200, maybe before, maybe slightly after.

But then I went away for a year to Italy and had little time or internet availability so I missed a lot before I got back in July. Oh well, I'm hooked again by now.

And what's with the Italian 8-bit-theatre link? It's never werked fir mee.

I was first introduced to the comic over a year ago. My boyfriend (at the time) linked me to one of the ones he thought was funny. I kept the link, and one day down the road, ended up reading them all. Uhm, awhile back, I was bored.. So I started searching the website for more stuff other then the comic. I came across the forums and immediately went "HEY FORUMS!" so joined up. For a long while, I was (and still kind of am) what you call a spastic forumer/reader. I only posted/read once in awhile. I started posting a lot more recently, when I got to know a lot of the forumers and it became more interesting. I still need to catch up on some past comics, but I plan on doing that in the next couple days. ^.^

Lets see... I was cruising the Nintendo Power Forums and I stumbled open a very funny signature that a guy had recieved. It entailed a very funny conversation between Fighter and Black Mage. I clicked on it (and since it was linked I got transferred to the site). I read a couple comics and thought this was funny. Looking up Faq's/walkthroughs once again for FF1 since I had a nice christmas break (15th Dec-18th Jan) I thought I'd beat Final Fantasy a coupla times. Since the break begain I've beat it once with Fi/Th/WM/BM. I found the link to nuklearpower.com and read the entire archives in three days 1-493. Then with the 8-Bit Party soley because of the strip, I also bought origins today and am working on it with Fi/rm/Bm/Bm nextup is a group with at least 3 BM's just for the fact that nuke 27 times in a row would be badass too bad nothing would be alive for 9 rounds of it but still I'd like to beat all the fiends and Chaos with nothing but Nukes hehe. Well i FOUND 8-bit because of my friend Trey, how he found it i have no idea. The reason I was DRAWN to it however was because of the charectors. Each charector remind s me of someone i know or have rolepayed with at one time. Black MAge and Thief are my personal favorites, i even created a charector thats a combination of the two, named Thage. Essentialy the comic is one of the things that has held my gorup of friends togethor, as well as given us all fits of maniacle laughter.

I don't remeber how I first stubled upon the genius that is the 8-bit theater. I was most likly involved in one of my internet quests when I found this hole of goodness. After I began reading the magnificent text therein I was totally hooked. I have read throught the series many a time and still get a good laugh out of them. What kept me hooked was either Black Mages tendency to be extremly violent or the nerdness within. I once got in a discussion what kick ass items Jesus would give someone if life was a RPG. Here's my story:
A girl in my school was watching Meddros' flash animation Black Mage vs. White Mage on her free time. I saw it along with her, and I found out that it was based off something from www.nuklearpower.com. So I went there. I read the comics. I liked it.
And now, I'm using it for ideas to put in my comic. (with regards to Brian Clevinger, creator of 8-Bit Theatre)

I saw a quote from someones sig on a game faq message board. It was a composition of...

Fighter : YAR! I am a bear.

... and I was all wtf? yet lolololol. Then this next line provoked curiosity to the extreme;

Black Mage : I tried being reasonable. You all saw. I now have no other recourse other then to shove him in the lava.

Wow, I was reading 8Bt a long time before TLF did his stuff. I first stumbled upon the site back somewhere during the 270s; I seem to remember a spider web. Anyway, I left; deeming it unimportant, but came across it again by a "top 10 websites list" of some sort --- I can't remember where or when -- but it happened just before they first met Sarda. So, I spent the next two days reading it all through. After that, I was hooked.

From which Flash? Or do you mean TLF (does not mean The Legendary Frog....)

I got here through a complex process, involving Newgrounds. First I saw 8Bit D&D. I saw that it had been inspired by 8BT, and, having accessed it by means of the Final Fantasy Section, I saw the animations. After watching the first two (the only ones in the section) I noticed the "Other Submitions by TLF" dropdown menu, and watched the 3rd one. Needless to say, I laughed my ass off in all three. However, I noticed how in the third one the references to Nuklearpower.com were greater, so, I decided to come to Nuklearpower.com. The first comic I saw was Episode 367: Address Verification, Shmaddress Verification (http://www.nuklearpower.com/daily.php?date=040101). But, not getting the jokes, I read though the archives. I laughed my ass off the whole time. And I've been laughing ever since.

I was drawn here when a friend told me he had found a webcomic starring me and my mate. Yes, I am aware of how typical it is to hear someone say they think they're like an 8 bit character, but I don't. Apparently my friend was reminded of us by Fighter and BM, me being BM. Not something I'm hugely proud of...

Although, the guy like Fighter has now taken up the habit of trying to convince us all sword-chucks are a good idea and constantly telling us how great swords are.

First issue I read was just before 'battling' Bikke, although I didn't really read it, I was just addicted to the archives for mutiple lessons of IT.

Brian should post in here. Something to the effect of a "Dread 'Tooner Clevinger," and how he was held hostage for months as he was forced to become the NEW Dread 'Tooner Clevinger, and how 8Bit owns him, instead of vice-versa. I hate to add this again, but for the sake of adding to the census I as well was introduced by the newgrounds flash comic, which I found after the 8-bit dnd flash. I was hooked with "welcome to corneria" because it reminded me of my very first rpg, dragon warrior, back when I wondered things like "why did they go through all the trouble of including this character is all he's going to say is the name of the castle." Although I will admit that that was the only was I knew the names of any towns, not that that was important information or anything back in those days.

I was drivin to 8-bit because of how it shows my evil genius mwahahahaha!!! I love me and my evil plots to stop the cursive Light Worriors. If you noticed those fool have never won a real battle unless you count that confused Black Belt. I never die also. I mean those rotton imps that broke my window, messed up my plans, and tried to kill me and I'm still alive. Oh yeah! By the way Brian C if you need a voice of Garland ask me. You know since I did post at [Adult Swim] About 8-bit becoming a show, although it kinda didn't work :( .... Lots of people agreed it should of been on Adult Swim. I was the one that started it. You know: Redmage2112 ? The guy with the picture of Miroku? And the signature: "I want to bare your childeren". Me and TLF are flash buddies. We talk about ideas and stuff. Infact I'm making one FFWarcraft and the 8-bit stars promised voices. So please I mean.....I am Garland so take that into consideration!

I was on Newgrounds, waiting for a Final Fantasy Chocobo Mix flash to load up, when lo and behold, there's a pre-loader! A month after seeing it (and forgetting I'd watched it already), I paid closer attention and saw some reference to this "8-bit theater" thing. A hop, skip, and a google later, and I was spending a week or so catching up a couple hundred episodes.

O_o I love you 8-Bit Theater... It's got to be my favorite sprite comic ever... I haven't found one I like better. The characters are interesting, and they make me laugh... ^_^ Who doesn't like that? I had first heard about 8-Bit froma link on Mark Shallow's site, Adventurers. 8BT was still in its infancy, and honestly wasn't that good. A few years later, due to the funny 8B5-evil on the attack flash, I came back, to find the adventures freakin hilarious.

An old friend of mine who most commonly goes by the nom de plume, Xzean, introduced me to 8-bit Theatre in the Spring of 2001, if I recall correctly. For a while, I read once or twice per month, but in late 2002 I started reading more frequently, and these days I read each episode within the hour of its posting.

I forget what led me here, probably after travelling through fifteen different links on other hand-drawn webcomic sites. What kept me here was the sheer halarity of it. I stopped reading BnG over a month ago, but I still read this one!

also....

My brother downloaded a game in which there was several 8-bit references. He did a search on 8-bit Theatre and then gave me the link. I remember reading 300 comics in just two nights. XD

It probably took more than 2 nights, you just don't remember all the times you nodded off waiting for a page to load. ;)

I must of first came across 8 bit theatre back in 2002 or so, and I -think- the story was up to the "Invincible Armor" part of the story then.

I thought it was hilarious because I am kind of a console rpg gamer buff so many of the gags I get right away. A lot of the scenes made me laugh so hard I couldnt keep reading. Theres just so much insanity wrapped up into this story it doesnt fit on the pages.

I'm a little sad to see the original t shirt designs arent around anymore. I would of liked to have one of those "Black Mage Hadouken" shirts but couldnt afford it at the time.

I first heard about 8-Bit Theatre from a friend of mine a couple of years ago, who told me a little bit about the characters and described a couple of scenes (one of which was WM asking BM for a "non-destructive" use of his magic) but then I thought nothing more of it.
A couple of months ago, however, I was looking at the "References" page of the Homestar Runner Wiki and I found that 8-Bit Theatre used a reference to H*R in it at one point, a picture of Trogdor. So I came to this site and... bingo! I was hooked.

A friend directed me to Nuklear Power at the same time as he directed me to Newgrounds ('Twas a day for new things...) roughly Nov-Dec 2001. I think it was around the time just before our mighty Light Warriors entered the Temple of Fiends (Hard to remember, 'twas years ago).

I read the lot up to that point, loved it, but soon forgot about it I couldn't be assed waiting for more comics to come out. Roughly the middle of last year I returned and read up on all I had missed. But I was already a member of several forums at the time and didn't really want to sign up to another. However, now no longer a visitor to said forums, I decided to sign up here.
